Chapter Two

Talking to the Moon

Myungsoo searched for answers in her eyes because that's the only thing he needs right now. But her eyes gave nothing away. Her eyes were taking away his soul slowly, as well as taking his breath away. They continued to stare into each other's eyes, neither one of them wanting to break it. They were too scared, too scared that if they break it, they might fall into an abyss.

They could have kept staring at each other but a small, lovely old lady asked Suzy, "Are you okay, dear?"

Suzy sat up slowly, Myungsoo helping her. He was use to it and maybe what Suzy said earlier was right; he shouldn't spoil her by helping her all the time. Suzy gave the old lady a weak smile. "I'm fine." Her voice was hoarse. "Thank you for asking."

Myungsoo looked at her with a worried gaze and at that exact moment, Suzy turned to look at him. Unlike before, her eyes were soft now and it was screaming out apologies.

"Are you her guardian?" The man from before asked.

Myungsoo nodded twice without saying a word.

"You should take her home. She probably needs some rest." He added.

Myungsoo nodded again and wrapped his arms around Suzy's shoulder in a protective way. He felt Suzy shiver with coldness and he couldn’t help but feel guilty and pained about it.

"Are you okay?" He asked her calmly.

"Never better." She replied.

Myungsoo helped her in the car before going back to get their left belongings.

He looked at Suzy straight in the eye as he said, "Don't try to do anything..." He paused. "Please." He begged.

Suzy gave him a reassuring smile and nodded towards the beach, ushering him to go. She watched as his body disappeared as he went further and further away. She sighed heavily to herself and forced her tears back down. She had no idea why she did it but she felt like she had to. She took in deep, long breathes, trying to calm herself down. She needs to be prepared for the questions that will be thrown at her later on.

In no time, Myungsoo came back with the stuff. He put them away at the trunk of the car and quietly slipped himself in the driver's seat.

"Everything alright, Angel?" He asked her.

"Never better, Sunshine." Suzy didn't look at him when she replied but she could feel his cold and worried eyes digging into her flesh. "I'm fine. Really." This time, she looked at him.

Myungsoo hummed in response and they drove in silence. Suzy watched the road ahead of her, and so did Myungsoo. She would take secret glances at him now and again and he would do the same. One out of the five times they did, they would catch each other. It was like a game. The more you catch each other, the more you have to do it.

Suzy took a deep breath before she said, "Myungsoo." Myungsoo hummed. "I want to die."

Myungsoo didn't say anything and waited a minute. He calmed himself down and kept a straight face.

"Why is that?" He finally asked.

"I'm happy right now."

"You're happy right now so you want to die?" Myungsoo asked. He really didn't get what she was trying to say.

"I want to die feeling happy." She turned to look at him. It never gets old, looking at his profile view. His sharp features were stunning and these were one of the reasons why she surrendered her suicide. She would miss him too much. "I don't want to die unhappy."

"Why didn't you continue... with your plan?"

Suzy couldn't help but chuckle, "You knew it was a plan all along?"

He nodded sharply, "You're not the type of person who makes quick decisions."

She found herself smiling. "You know me so well."

"Why didn't you continue with your plan?" He repeated the same thing, only this time it was more fluent.

"You."

There was a pause and Myungsoo swore he heard his inner self sobbing. "Me."

"Yes. You."

"Why me?"

Suzy closed her eyes, "I'm your only family."

"Is that it?"

She shook her head, "No."

"What else?"

She opened her eyes, "I'm being selfish."

"You are, indeed." He agreed, slightly amuse. "Why did you pick the beach?"

"It was less obvious since I could swim and all that."

"But it's one of my favourite places."

Suzy bit her lower lip, feeling guilty. "I'm sorry I ruined it for you."

"You're alright."

Suzy heaved a sigh, "Please don't lie."

Myungsoo scoffed, "You should know by now, the things I say are true."

Suzy stayed silent after that. It was true; he never told her lies. Whenever he did, it was fairly obvious. That's probably one of the reasons why he doesn't lie that often. Another reason could be that Suzy hated liars and Myungsoo knew this fine well. He never liked upsetting people, especially those close to him.

They travelled in silence and they were both losing their energy. It's been quite some time now since they were driving and Suzy didn't even notice until now that darkness has already fallen. She checked the time and it's been three hours since they left the beach. She was surprised and confused as to what was happening. They only live half an hour away from the beach.

"Where exactly are we going?" She asked him, quite scared.

"Stargazing." He answered simply.

"Stargazing? But the sky isn't clear." She pointed out.

"Who said we're going to stargaze outside?"

She raised her eyebrow. "Then where?"

A smile played on Myungsoo's lips. "You'll find out soon."

"How much longer? I'm hungry." She whined.

Myungsoo made a turn and parked the car near a tree. "We're here."

Suzy looked around her. There were only a few cars and the place was mostly deserted except for a glass dome in front of them.

"Are you coming or not?" He asked impatient.

Suzy flashed him a smile before getting off. She forgot about this place. They haven't been here in quite a long time and seeing it again makes her so happy and excited.

Myungsoo handed Suzy his hoodie but she only stared at it.

"Take it, you fool." He said. Suzy frowned at him. "I'm wearing one too, if you haven't noticed." She looked at his body and he was actually wearing one. But still, she could only look at him. "Oh, for crying out loud Angel." He walked over to her and wrapped the hoodie around her. She offered him a warm smile before giving him a big hug.

She buried her face in Myungsoo's hoodie and breathed in his scent. "Myungsoo, I'm sorry." She muttered.

"What?" He asked, hugging her back tightly. "I can hardly understand what you're saying."

Suzy pushed him away slightly and she looked up at him, "I said I'm sorry."

"You're alright." He said as he patted her head. "Now, let's go in. I'm hungry too."

Suzy nodded and they both made their way inside the planetarium. There weren't many people there; there's hardly anyone there these days. Only the people who work there was present and they all welcomed them with warm smiles. Myungsoo and Suzy were well known visitors in this place. There was a time when they came here every day without a fail and since then, it somehow became their second home.

"Welcome!" Mr. Nam greeted them. "It's been so long since I've seen both of you!" He gave each of them a quick, welcoming hug before leading them to the show room.

"We've missed this place so much!" Suzy was on the verge of crying. "It's been so long."

Myungsoo looked at her and gave out a small laugh, "Are you actually going to cry?"

Suzy hit him hard but playfully on the shoulders and this caused Myungsoo to whimper a bit. "Shut up."

Mr. Nam laughed at the two playful 'siblings'. "What brings you here out of the blue?"

"Just..." Myungsoo took a quick look at Suzy and she turned away. "We needed to clear our minds, I guess."

"Well, you've come to the right place." Mr. Nam winked at them and gestured them to go in.

They took their usual seats, which was bang right in the middle, and made themselves comfortable.

"Do you need anything?" Mr. Nam asked them. "Are you hungry? I can get you some food."

"Yes, please!" Suzy beamed at the mention of food. "I would love some, thank you!" She was now somewhat hyper.

Mr. Nam nodded and looked at Myungsoo, "How about you, boy?"

Myungsoo nodded and gave the man an eye smile, "Thank you, Mr. Nam."

"Any time." Said Mr. Nam and he disappeared through the doors in less than two minutes.

Both, Myungsoo and Suzy, started to look up. The stars were shining above them and it just felt so real. They continued to stare at the stars, waiting for Mr. Nam to arrive with their food quietly. They were watching billion or more stars shining and Suzy is fascinated by them.

"Hey, Sunshine." Suzy began. "Have you made a constellation yet?"

Myungsoo chuckled, "Why, yes I have. Have you?"

Suzy nodded, "I've made a clover so far."

Myungsoo grinned, "Funny because I have as well."

Suzy looked at him and smiled meaningfully. "Interesting." She lifted her finger up and connected the stars together. "How many leaves?" She asked.

Myungsoo chuckled, "Four."

Suzy looked at him, amazed. "Really? I only have three."

"Better luck next time."

"You're such a lucky sun."

Myungsoo ruffled her hair, "Better luck next time." He repeated. Suzy gave him a death glare as she fixed her hair.

Before they knew it, Mr. Nam was back with their food. He was holding a big grey tray with biscuits and drinks. He handed Myungsoo and Suzy their drinks and offered them biscuits.

"Thank you." They replied in chorus. They looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"It's like you can read each other's mind or have this kind of telepathy." Mr. Nam said as he handed them the whole plate of biscuits. "Enjoy your food."

Before he left, Myungsoo called him back. "Where's Rain?"

Mr. Nam shrugged and a small smile appeared on his lips, "Somewhere."

Suzy observed the two. She'd heard of Rain before but she never saw really saw him or seen a picture of him. Myungsoo told her that Rain was a familiar stranger and they've known each other for quite some time now. Some time ago, she found out that Mr. Nam was Rain's dad and she's been asking him endless questions about him but she never got a direct answer.

"I haven't seen him these past few days." Myungsoo continued.

"He's probably busy."

"Probably."

"I'll tell him you're looking for him." Mr. Nam told him.

Myungsoo nodded, "Thanks again, Mr. Nam."

"Any time, kid." That was the last thing Mr. Nam said before he left.

Suzy and Myungsoo ate their biscuits and drank their drinks in silence. They continued to gaze up at the stars and just think. It was nice and peaceful and it felt like they were the only people on earth at this precise moment. They felt like they had all the time in the world. They felt free and their hearts were at ease. It was like the event from this morning never happened. But at the same time, it felt like it was their last day on earth.

Suzy turned to look at Myungsoo, taking a sip of her drink before speaking. "Tell me something about Rain."

He continued to gaze at the stars, "What about Rain?"

"What is he like?"

"He's just Rain."

Suzy sulked, "Why don't you answer my questions properly?"

"It's a habit."

"Your habit is irritating most of the time." She folded her arms. "Can't you be more specific? How is he just Rain?

Myungsoo sighed and turned to look at her, "Why are you so curious about him?"

"Because he's your friend."

"And so?"

Suzy took another sip of her drink because became dry so suddenly. "So, I want to know more about him."

Myungsoo just looked at her; he looked at her straight in the eye. "He's Rain. Just Rain."

Suzy grunted, finally giving up. "I'll find out myself then."

Myungsoo couldn't help but chuckle, "You do that." He handed Suzy a biscuit and said, "Now eat this. We're leaving soon."

Suzy happily accepted the biscuit and shoved the whole thing in . She started to cough horrendously, worrying Myungsoo. He patted her back and handed her a drink.

"Are you okay?" He asked as he continued to pat her back.

Suzy nodded once, still struggling. "I'm fine." She said in between coughs. "Thanks." She finally calmed down and flashed him a smile. "Thanks, Sunshine!"

Myungsoo eyed her suspiciously. He doesn't know why but her smile was fake. "What are you hiding?" He asked in a calm tone.

Suzy was taken aback by his question but still kept her cool posture. "What makes you think I'm hiding something?"

Myungsoo waited for a few moments before shaking his head and saying, "Nothing."

She gave him a weird look and shrugged, "Ready to go then?"

He nodded and walked first, leading the way and having that protective stance. Suzy heaved a quiet sigh of relief. She somehow wriggled her way out of this one but she had an inkling feeling that Myungsoo won't let her fake smile go. She rarely put on a fake smile and it's amazing how Myungsoo is able to notice it so easily.

She pinched a small amount of clothe at the back of Myungsoo's hoodie as she trailed behind him like a lost child. She looked at the back of his head, trying to distract herself from over thinking but it didn't seem to work. So she just surrendered, looked at the floor and let herself drown in her own thoughts.

She smiled now and then, like a crazy woman, as she made small petty plans in her head.
