Reflections
Description
In New Seoul, the Queen rules the lower folk with an iron fist. Stripped of rights and freedom, the people have rebelled many times throughout her reign. However, rebellions are quickly crushed as she brings the leaders to the dreaded Hall of Mirrors...
An anechoic chamber, this hall is a maze with ceilings, floors and walls covered with mirrors. Any sound is absorbed by these special mirrors. It's so quiet in there that one can hear their own organs functioning. Surrounded by their reflections and with no sound but their own thoughts, it isn't long before victims begin to hallucinate. Spending over forty five minutes could make somebody go insane. Nobody enters the Hall without coming out changed...apart from the Queen herself.
As conditions in New Seoul deteriorate, a new resistance rises out of the ashes of its predecessors and this time it's more than a few riots; it's war. However, it doesn't seem like one they're going to win - that is, until a young woman appears from nowhere and helps to turn the tables.
Foreword
Hey. So this was my newest contest entry! It is an entry for HYOYEON || Writing Contest.
The prompt I'm using is;
There comes a time when you look into the mirror and you realize that what you see is all you will ever be. And then you accept it. Or you kill yourself. Or you stop looking in mirrors. - Tennessee Williams.
This is inspired by this post on tumblr and the following songs; [x] [x] [x]
Enjoy!
Note: I live in Ireland so some spellings may be different than the ones you are familiar with, eg Color = Colour, Traveler = Traveller etc.
