Pictures and Letters to a Mysterious Friend

Chapter Two ; Donghae ;

Donghae sat at the computer desk in his bedroom, staring at the blank sheet before him. He decided that today was the day he would start his letter no matter what, and he’d just address it when he finally got the name and address of the person he was sending it to. The start of the letter proved to be harder than expected, since he constantly went from writing in English and switching to Korean without noticing.

“Alright, I’ll just… write everything in Korean first, and then translate it into English. That’ll be easier.”

Donghae nodded to himself and began to write, starting with a simple introduction of himself and his friends, then a little about what he liked to do. After three hours, he had both letters completed. With an imaginary pat on the back and sigh of relief, he folded and sealed the envelopes and set them to the side to worry about later.

“Donghae-ah! Pick up your phone! Pick it up! Now!”

Laughing at his phone’s ringtone of Kyuhyun and Hyukjae yelling at him to pick up his phone, Donghae reached back and grabbed his phone to answer.

“Yah, what do you want?”

“Hyung!” Kyuhyun answered, a bit of distraught in his voice. “Hyung we have to go out to dinner! All four of us!”

“Arra, arra! Where do you want to go?”

“Let’s just meet up at the steak shop near Sungmin-hyung’s, neh? It’s closest to all of us.”

“Sounds good to me. See you there in ten?”

                “Deh! See you soon hyung!”

With a soft tap on the phone screen to hang up, Donghae groaned and stretched. Sitting in the same position for a few hours really upset his back and getting out was what he needed. After a quick shower and changing into some ‘nice clothes’ – really it was just skinny jeans and a polo that wasn’t stained or wrinkled, Donghae made his way to the steak shop for a dinner with the guys.

“Hyung!”

Kyuhyun’s voice came in more of a cry than anything, and he ran to attack Donghae in a hug.

“Hey, what’s wrong?”

“Soo and I broke up! She hated that I went to get my game but I couldn’t miss the premiere! Hyung, what if she doesn’t want to get back with me? What if I’m alone forever?”

“Yah yah yah, calm down Kyuhyun-ah. You’ll find love again; this one just wasn’t the right one.”

                “I guess so…”

Donghae gave Kyuhyun another hug, and then smiled more when Sungmin and Hyukjae ran up to meet them. Hellos were exchanged and they all decided that it was Sungmin’s turn to pay the bill, although Kyuhyun wasn’t his usual evil self. He’d been through break up’s before, but this one was worse. He really did like Soo and she liked him, but Donghae figured she just couldn’t take the whole Kyuhyun going missing to play video games and such anymore.

After finding their seat and ordering their usual meals, conversations began to rise about anything and everything. The main topics that were focused on tonight were Donghae’s letter and a performance that Hyukjae and Sungmin were planning.

“So what did you write?” Sungmin asked, his doe-like eyes wide to express his curiosity.

“Just talked about myself, and a little about you guys. What we like to do, some of my favorite things; just random stuff really.”

“Are you going to send some pictures too?”

“I didn’t even think of that,” Donghae said softly, then quickly pulled out his phone. “Should we take pictures now?”

The three other males shrugged and smiled a bit, agreeing that it was okay. They each took individual pictures with cute poses, then a group shot of all four of them smiling wider than ever. Sungmin looked through each picture and decided which ones should be sent, and Donghae agreed since he really didn’t know which ones to send and which ones not to, and Sungmin always had the best sense of what’s good and what isn’t.

The meal continued and went fairly well, and Kyuhyun even managed to actually smile and laugh a few times. Him smiling was Donghae’s main goal for the night, and he was happy that he could accomplish it. Sungmin declared that since there wasn’t any school tomorrow the four of them would spend the night at his house, mainly just to find out what kind of performance he and Hyukjae had planned.

-- A Couple Hours Later --

“Okay okay, is everyone ready?” Sungmin asked, wearing his best “musician’s outfit” as he put it, but really it was just the same thing Donghae had on earlier before changing into a loose white t-shirt and sweats with Kyuhyun.

“Yeah, we’re ready! Just go!” Kyuhyun yelled out, the evil in his personality clearly showing again.

Hyukjae laughed from his position next to Sungmin, and then dimmed the lights for his and Sungmin’s duet performance. It was a medley of a few American love songs that neither Donghae or Kyuhyun recognized, but it sounded beautiful and it was no surprise that Hyukjae’s dancing was perfectly in sync with the music. Donghae and Kyuhyun clapped happily when it was finished and the two performing bowed, both sporting huge smiles on their faces.

“That was great!” Kyuhyun exclaimed, quickly standing to hug them both.

“Thanks, we practiced really hard!” Sungmin responded, jumping a bit. “We’re going to perform it in the school’s talent show! Do you think we’d win?”

“Think?” Donghae asked between chuckles. “I know you’d guys win. You’re amazing!”

“Yeah! You guys will totally take first place again!”

Hyukjae laughed and showed off his gummy smile, nodding quickly. “Deh, everyone will love it! Now, I must sleep!”

Laughter came from around the room as Hyukjae dropped to the floor and immediately fell asleep, but everybody else decided that it was a good idea considering the late hour. Kyuhyun laid on top of Hyukjae like he always did and fell asleep, and Donghae and Sungmin laid their blankets next to each other and fell asleep. Dreams of happy things invaded all of their minds, yet Donghae’s was the happiest as it was a dream of meeting his perfect match, him secretly hoping that it was the person he would come in contact with through his pen pal letters.

Chapter 1: Awesome~ The first chapter was great! ^.^

Even though it was short-ish, it definitely showed the personalities of Donghae and Lilly well, and was a nice intro to the story.

I wonder what their first letters would be like, though? Do they send each other a photo of themselves on the first few letters, or will they do that later on?

Actually don't tell me. I want to be surprised! :p

After reading this, I can't wait for the second chapter~
