Having trouble picking a prom dress? I can help!^^
For chapters like clothing and stuff, it's pretty hard to do since everyone has different skin tones, different body shapes, different expectations etc.
EVERYONE is unique!
Therefore, in this chapter, i'll be using the "askers / requesters" body figure to do this chapter.
1. Decide on what kind of dress you want.
There are hundreds and hundreds different types of dresses , eg . Strapless , Floor Length , Cocktail , Short , One Sided ++ more.
Obviously, you can choose what kind of dress you want for yourself, BUT, I will teach you how to choose professionally to make sure the dress matches your body figure as much as possible!
As for this requester, her body figure matches most with floor length dresses.
Don't know what your body type is? Read this:
If your hips and waist are about the same size (hence, you do not have the S line), and your thighs are a tiny bit bigger than your calves - you have a SLENDER body figure
If you have a very thin waist, your hips are quite large and your calves are just slightly smaller than your thighs - you are an HOURGLASS body figure
If your chubby with big waist, big thighs and big hips (sorry if that sounded offensive ><; you know i don't mean it!) - you have a body figure of an APPLE
If you have a slight waist with a big hip (so a crooked"ish" S shape line), medium sized thighs and small calves - you are a PEAR
If your just stick thin skinny with a tiny waist - your body figure is PETITE
If you have big s with no waist, big bottom, small thighs and small calves - you have a BUSTY body shape
2. Choose Dress by the Colour of your Skin Tone
Is there a specific colour that complements your skin tone? If not, follow this simple rule:
Pale Skin = Wear Pale Colours (however, do not wear white)
Tan Skin = Wear Darker Colours (however, do not wear black)
Two colours are excluded in this rule;
If you have pale skin, do NOT wear white - it'll just make you look like a ghost.
If you have dark skin, do NOT wear black - I personally don't think it looks good.
Another rule:
If you're buying a floor lenth dress - you can stay with 1 colour or go fancy and purchase a dress with 1-3 colours but NOTHING MORE - or you'll look like a clown.
If your buying a dress that's up to the knee or a little shorter (so just NOT floor length) - stick with only 1 colour.
3. Where in the world are you?
I'm not stalking, it's because, sometimes different places have different style of dresses in season;
So buy a couple of fashion / prom / formal magazines and get studying!
Go online and check out a few of the latest seasonal clothing in your country!
If I'm right, this requester is in a hot and dry season right now, thus I would recommend her to wear something that complements the sky , sunrise or the sunset. These colours would be hot pink , red , orange , light yellow , light blue , dark blue and / or coffee colour . However , because she has tan skin she cannot wear most of these colours (because of the rule I've written above^^) So, out of all these colours, she can only wear hot pink , red , dark blue or coffee colour.
I personally think that dark blue or coffee colour floor length dresses look best , but the choice is hers. :)
4. BE CONFIDENT !
Seriously girls. 2 words can be really , really important and helpful !
You may here this all the time , but if you seriously follow the tip , no matter what you wear , you'd still look as beautiful . Why? How? Because you're confident in what your wearing !
Dresses I would recommend for the requester:
Simple:
Elegant:
Pattern:
y:
Pretty:
Anyways, have a good time at your prom and make sure to be confident!
Maybe upload a picture of the prom dress you got when you buy it? Also, if you don't mind, please do share some pictures from your prom.
I love knowing I had helped ^^ .
