Bloodline

Description

Vampirism is a curse. A curse that started long ago, and was passed on to different people just because of one bite. One bite, that can change everything. And there's only one solution that can break the curse -- to let the girl who is destined to make everything that is written in the book of prophecies happen exist after her twenty-first birthday.

Foreword

“Tell us.”

“Tell you what?”

“Tell us everything you know.”

The fourteen-year-old-girl frowned. “What am I supposed to tell you? Something about school? Well,” she pressed her lips together and began to think. Her eyes brightened up as if a bulb came out on top of her head. ”We did art project today! It was full of glitters and hearts and stars and everything under the sun! Do you want to see it? It’s in my bag! Wait—” she started to look through her bag. She grabbed a piece of paper, and proudly showed it to the three tall men standing in front of her. “Ta-dah! Here it is! Isn’t it pretty? I did well, right?”

The one in the middle, who looked like the leader, heaved a sigh. “The prophecy. We’re talking about the prophecy.”

“Prophecy?” The leader nodded. She rolled her eyes. “Hello? I’m just fourteen years old, I have only lived in this world for fourteen years. How am I supposed to know something about that prophecy you’re talking about? You see, this—” she pointed at her art project.”—is what I do on a daily basis. Art projects, with glittery stuffs,” she smiled innocently. “Want some? I can make you some drawings. I’m actually pretty good at making portraits. You shou—”

“Enough!” the man at the leader’s left said. “Enough with the nonsense. Now, tell us everything you know about the prophecy.”

“I told you, I don’t know.” She bit her lower lip, trying to suppress the tears that were about to flow from her frightened eyes. “Please, stop. . .”

The man on the right heaved a sigh. “We know you know something—” he looked at the girl straight in the eye. “—or even everything.”

Her lips started shaking as the tears blurred her vision. “P-please, mister. Please stop. . . I really don’t know what you’re talking about. . .”

The leader walked towards the girl, and held her chin upwards. His cold eyes met her frightened ones. “Stop playing games with me, little girl. I know that you know everything about the prophecy. I’m tired of your acting.”

The look in the girl’s eyes suddenly changed. From being frightened, her eyes became emotionless. She shoved the leader’s hand away, and started to wipe away her tears with a mischievous smile plastered on her lips. “Well, I got tired, too. So, I guess we’re even now.” She looked at all of them with a raised eyebrow. “And besides, I’m not a little girl.”

The other two flinched, after seeing the sudden switch of the girl’s personality.

“Now,” the leader started, as he walked in circles around the girl. “Tell us everything you know.”

“You really think I know something about that prophecy?” he nodded. “Do you believe in my abilities?” he nodded once again. She smirked. “Well, I don’t.”

“Just tell us, now.”

“You won’t get anything from me~” the girl said in a playful manner. “My mouth—” she pretended to zip . “—is sealed.”

“Fine.” The leader blurted out of irritation. “We don’t need you. We’ll just find another witch who can tell us about the prophecy.”

All three of them walked towards the door, but the girl stopped them. She smirked once again. “Ladies first, right?”

The leader sighed out of irritation, as he made way for the girl to leave first.

“No one knows,” she said out of the blue, as she held the door’s knob.

They all looked at her. “What do you mean?” the leader asked.

“No one knows.” Her face was serious this time; there was no trace of sweetness and innocence that she showed before, even the playfulness in the tone of her voice was gone. “I’m the only one who knows.”

“Then, tell us.” The man at the right tried to walk towards her, but she gestured for him to stop, and he did.

The leader looked at her straight in the eyes. “Please, tell us everything you know about the prophecy.”

She avoided the gaze of the leader, and looked blankly at the wall behind him. “Her mere existence can erase any trace of vampirism in this world. Yet, her blood can give one endless power that can destroy everything— and even everyone,” she opened the door. “Humans, werewolves. Witches,” she looked at each of them for the last time. She smiled. “And even vampires.”

With that, the door closed, leaving the three frozen with what they found out.
