Exhausted and sleepy, Kris entered the room he shares with Chen carrying his son, the alpaca stuffed toy given to him in China which he named, Ace. He lay on his bed and checked at the clock on his night stand, 12:30am, his birthday is over now. He glanced at his right side and saw Chen sound asleep already.

“You’re getting old again Wu Fan” he mumbled to himself, “Hey Ace, did you enjoyed the birthday party held for us a while ago?”

“Yes daddy, I did. It was a blast” he said in a little cute voice that is so-not-him

“Haha. Really? Hmm. I wish your umma was there, but your uncles treated you nicely right? Ja, Appa will just take a shower”

Like a little baby, he placed Ace on his bed and wrapped him with his blanket, ‘just in case you will get cold’ that’s what he told him then got up and started removing his shirt then his pants when he heard someone who is yelling but in a slightly inaudible manner

“Kyaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!”

He looked around and then at Chen but the EXO-M’s very own little troll is sleeping like a log, “Who’s there?” he asked but no one answered. Shaking his head, he proceeded on his business when he heard the same voice again, this time talking to him directly

“Ya! Don’t you ever dare strip in front of me you disgusting guy!”

“Disgusting eh?” he said in his thick Canadian accent with furrowed eyebrows. “I’m too tired; I think I really have to rest. I’m starting to hallucinate” he told himself so instead of taking a shower, he simply laid on his bed with only his boxers on and hugged Ace and closed his eyes when it started again.

“! !” quickly he opened his eyes, wide and stared at the cute stuffed toy that he was hugging, “! ” it said again

Kris stared at Ace for a long time then poked its belly, there isn’t even a device like other stuffed toys that makes them talk, Ace is just made up of cotton and only cotton, “Ya, are you the one talking?” he asked

“Is there anyone awake other than us?” it answered. Bewildered, Kris unconsciously threw it away, “Ouch!” it yelped when it landed on the floor

“W..who are you?” he stuttered

“I think it should be me who should ask you WHO DO YOU THINK ARE YOU TO STRIP IN FRONT OF ME AND HUG ME IN THE BED WITH JUST YOUR BOXERS ON!” it angrily replied while lying upside down, “And will you please fix me, I’m getting dizzy in this position!”

He his lips and laughed loud, narrowing his eyes on the stuffed toy…

“Hyung, why are you laughing on this time of night?” Chen sleepily mumbled

“Chen… Ace is speaking”

“Huh? You’re just sleepy..”

“Listen, wait.. Hey Ace, why don’t you talk?”

“Lift me up!” Ace answered

Kris, grinning like an idiot looked at Chen again who is now sitting on his bed and looking Ace on the floor, “Did you hear him?”

“No. Sleep hyung, you’re tired and hallucinating. Keep quiet will you?” Chen pointed a finger then went back to sleep

“Weird” he said when he stood up from his bed

“Kyaaa!!!!! For Pete’s sake wear something!” Ace said

“I’m sleepy, shut your mouth” he answered when he picked the stuffed toy

“Idiot!” Ace answered

“How dare you call your appa like that?” Kris asked and shook him

“ya! Ya! Ya! Stooooppp I’m getting dizzy!!!!”

“Then stop calling me an idiot. I think you need to learn some manners!” Kris said,

Every day, Kris will take the alpaca with him wherever he goes except to the men’s room which Ace strangely refused, considering that he is a man for ‘his’ Appa. Instead, Kris will let Lay or Luhan or any of s to hold ‘him’.

He will also teach Ace to speak politely to him and punish ‘him’ when ‘his’ bad behavior arises.

“Ya, what are you?” Kris asked one time when he was alone in the practice room with ‘his son’

“I’m an alpaca stuffed toy, stupid” and with that Kris will shake ‘him’ again until it pleaded with utmost formality and politeness and respect for ‘his’ appa to stop.

“AIsh… What kind of attitude you got. You know what?  You won’t gain friends if you will continue being like that”

“I have a lot of friends.. I have my sosh…” ‘he’ trailed then gone quiet

“Are you still there? You have your what? Sorry, I dazed a bit” Kris looked again from the poster hanging on the practice room back to the alpaca

“Nothing appa” the alpaca softly murmured, looking at the same poster where ‘his’ appa had been staring… I miss you girls ‘he’ sadly said to ‘himself’.

Day after day, Kris and Ace will find a bond that no one else can notice even them until one day, out of curiosity, Ace asked ‘his’ father.

“Appa” yeah, that’s what ‘he’ call him now or else he will get punished again. One time Kris put ‘him’ inside the fridge after they fought when Ace called a girl who asked for Kris’s autograph a . And when Ace called EXO and the other groups’ fans, peasants, saying that they exist because of their idols and that they are very irritating at times, Kris punished ‘him’, placing ‘him’ inside a snowman that he made outside their dorm.

“Yes?” Kris asked

“Where is my umma?”

“Huh?”

“I mean, is there someone who owns your heart?” ’he’ asked while sitting on top of the computer table while Kris is answering fan messages on EXO-M’s fanboard

“Hmmm… Ne…” he answered

In a way, Ace felt that something has pierced ‘his’ heart when ‘he’ heard ‘his’ appa’s answer, “Why are you not with her? Is she in Canada?”

Kris bid his fans good bye and logged out from the fanboard then took Ace on his arm and allowed ‘him’ to sit on his lap. “No, she’s a superstar that I cannot yet reach or I don’t know if I could even reach her”

FLASHBACK

Starting a life in a foreign country where he knows no one, even the language is the toughest time for a Seventeen year old Chinese-Canadian Boy, Wu Fan after successfully passing the global audition held by SMTown in Canada.

Every day from daybreak to midnight, he will practice and learn everything he has to learn with the hope of debuting soon. Sitting with his fellow trainees and friends who soon became s – Kai, Suho and Chanyeol, Wu Fan stared at Soonkyu, no, Sunny and thought of the first time he went to SM. He knows no one and speaks not even conversational Korean when a cute little girl came to him,

“A trainee?” she asked in her perfect English

“Yes” he answered

“Follow me” she said and led him the way up to the training room

“Are you a trainee here too? How did you know that I am a trainee and I speak English?” he asked while following her

She faced him and walked backwards, “I’m a trainee myself and I will debut soon. I heard you talking to the guard while I am on my way here and he basically can’t understand you. I can’t bear the sight of you when I came to the lobby 2 hours later. You look seriously stupid and it annoys me seeing people like you so I came to take you to your practice room and will you please learn the language before you come to a foreign land if you don’t want people making fun of you simply because you don’t understand them. Plus, you might look good if you will try to have a fair skin color”.

END OF FLASHBACK

Smiling, he looked on his son and continued, “I always hoped to see that little girl who helped me on my very first day until I learned that she is Soonkyu, a year older than me and I always see to it that I will pass on their practice room every day just to see her even if just for a glimpse. And then hoped to be on the same stage with her… and everything happened like magic, I got the chance to debut and be on the SMTown concerts with her but still she’s too close and yet too far…”

“So you still like her until now,even when 4 years have passed already?” Ace asked

“Yes”

“But isn’t it that she has bad attitude, she smiles and acts so cute to everyone when the camera is on but is actually mean and rude off cam?”

“Huh? How did you know about that?”

“Well, you take me wherever you go, right?” then ‘he’ told him about the times when he will leave ‘him’ to perform on stage and Ace will hear some people passing on their waiting room talking about Sunny Lee, SNSD’s member who is missing in action right now. Saying that she went on a vacation that is why she is not around or maybe her uncle, Lee Soo Man, SM’s own CEO sent her to a rehab for her attitude problem but nonetheless life without her is the best since she’s a nasty spoiled brat.

“I don’t care. I honestly don’t. Every human has his/her own downsides and I believe there is goodness deep inside her heart, she just needs someone help her bring that out”

“You think so?” Ace asked softly

“Ne. That is why there is a Second Chance when everything didn’t go well at first. And when second chance isn’t enough, there is still a third or a fourth and so on and so forth. And for me, I don’t mind giving her that.”

“Do you think you love her despite her personality?”

“Just consider her being like you; no matter how many times you misbehaved, even to me, and even if it’s only me who can hear and talk to you like a lunatic, I still keep you right?” He smiled and the alpaca’s head tenderly
