Chapter 4

Chaos ; the aftermath after the Big Bang

Ok Taecyeon’s POV

“Taecyeon don’t walk too fast.”

I sighed and re-did my scene. It wasn’t that hard, all I needed to was to look cool and charismatic while walking, so it shouldn’t be too difficult. Then why was I so nervous? Oh right, did I mention who my female partner is? No, it’s not Yoona, that girl couldn’t make me my pants even if I wanted to. It’s Aya, the rookie singer, but she sure didn’t act like one. She’s way more mature than I imagined her to be and I like it. I like girls who take control over their men. It’s y. She’s y, I mean…

“Taecyeon stop spacing out we need you here!”

“Okay.”

Okay? What kind of an answer is that? I caught her snicker in the background. Great, I had just embarrassed myself without Wooyoung’s help. That must only mean one thing; I am going crazy. Yes, that’s the only logical reason.

“Standing here alone, I see.”

I got startled when I voice interrupted me and I looked around, looking into the chocolate brown eyes of the Aya. I started stuttering, desperately trying to come up with something brilliant to say.

“Nice weather today, right?”

She gave me a weird look and walked away while I mentally facepalmed myself. Nice weather today, right? Smooth, Taecyeon, smooth. She probably thinks I’m some crazy psycho now. I sighed and gave up trying to impress her. It wasn’t going anywhere and it didn’t seem like she was interested at all. The producer called us back and we started filming again. The atmosphere was even more awkward now because of my ‘brilliant’ comment earlier and the production crew must’ve felt it too because they started getting cranky.

“Aya, you have to look fiercer. Where’s the charismatic look I wanted? There you go. Now come on, we don’t have all day.”

The shoot finally came to an end, and I sighed in relief. After bowing to the staff and thanking them for their hard work, I made my way to the dressing room where my manager was waiting. Aya caught up with me and asked me out of the blue if I disliked her because I looked a bit uncomfortable.

“Ah, no, that wasn’t because of you. It was because I was kind of embarrassed talking to you earlier. It didn’t really go exactly how I wanted it to be.”

“Then how do you want the conversation to be?”

I stopped walking when I realized I was talking to her without stuttering and stumbling over my own words. We were having a normal conversation and she didn’t think I was a crazy psycho. When I realized this, I started panicking. What if I messed up again? What if I made fun of myself again? What if…

“Taecyeon sshi?”

I looked down at her and gave her a sheepish smile which she returned with a small, genuine smile. I relaxed a bit and we went back to our conversation.

“Oh and you can call me ‘oppa’ if you want to.”

“Sure, oppa.”

“Katy, I need to talk to you.”

She casually walked out of the recording booth as Seo Mi skipped in, a cup of bubble tea in her hand.

“Seo Mi, no food in the booth!” I heard Teddy yell at her, a finger pointing accusingly at the cup in her hand. She pouted cutely and placed the cup on the table outside before walking back. I chuckled as the scene, earning a weird look from Stella.

“You wanted to see me?”

“I need to discuss your future schedules. J Tune Camp sent a request for you. They want you to feature in one of their new songs and as you know your comeback is coming up soon.”

I didn’t get any response so I assumed she was following along.

“Sajangnim told me that you could if you wanted to, but if you feel like there’s too much pressure with the comeback and everything, then—”

“I’ll do it.”

“Are you sure?”

She nodded, and I saw a hint of excitement evident in her eyes. I nodded and took out my phone, calling sajangnim to inform him about it. I let her in the recording studio again at the same time as Seo Mi walked out of the recording booth.

“Maknaes, could you guys run down to the cafeteria and ask Kush if he has seen my notebook? I can’t find it anywhere.”

“Which notebook?” Maylee asked as she stood up from the sofa, heading towards the door with Seo Mi behind her, quickly finishing her bubble tea.

“The blue one with Seo Mi’s drawing on it.” He shot the accused girl a look and she sheepishly grinned at him before she made a dash for the door, challenging Maylee to see who could reach the cafeteria first. When the two maknaes were gone, the others resumed to recording.

“There’s something off about the beat.”

“I think we should switch out this song, it doesn’t really fit the album.”

“The lyric seems… How do I say it? ed up?”

I rolled my eyes at Stella’s profanity. At times like these, I doubted her leader skills but then other times she could really surprise me and be a good leader.

“Oppa, who exactly requested for me?”

I shrugged and truthfully told her that I had no idea. It surprised me that she even accepted the request; Katy was never known to be the straightforward type to take initiative and she was shy when meeting new people. Trust me, I should know that.

“I just wanted to try breaking out of my shell. Try to be comfortable around strangers,” was the answer I got when I asked her why she had accepted the request. I was proud of her for at least trying and I tried giving her some encouraging words but I was never the type to be good with emotional stuff so I ended up patting her awkwardly on the back.

Park ‘Nova’ Saebyul’s POV

“… and I told him that no, he couldn’t have your number so he’s all whiny and now.”

I laughed at the thought of B-Bomb being whiny because Kyung wouldn’t give him my number. It so wasn’t the charismatic and mysterious boy I saw on television. Kyung had called me, telling me to block off all incoming calls from an unknown number, in case it was B-Bomb.

“What’s so wrong with giving him my number? If he tried anything you know I would’ve beaten the out of him.”

I could feel Kyung was rolling his eyes on the other line and I chuckled. Even thought we teased and bullied each other all the time and it looked like I hated him (which I sometimes do), we still took care of each other like we did when we were younger. It was amusing to see his overprotective older brother side kick in when situations like these arose.

“I know, I know. You would’ve killed him if you wanted to, but that’s not the point. The point is, I can’t stand watching my cousin getting all lovey dovey with one of my members it’s like… no! Gross!”

I laughed when he pretended to throw up.

“Alright, fine. Don’t give him my number then. Do whatever you want.”

“Hey, don’t be mad at me. How would you feel if I started dating, say, Katy? How would you feel?”

“Grossed out. Dude, stay away from her.”

“My point exactly. That’s how I would feel if you started dating one of my members.”

I rolled my eyes and sighed, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of being right for the first time. There was a pregnant pause before he finally spoke up.

“Listen, Byul, let’s make a promise, okay?”

“What kind of promise?”

“You promise not to date any of my members and I’ll promise to stay away from yours.”

“What if one of my members starts dating your members?”

“That’s a whole another story which we will talk about if that ever happens.”

“Hmm…” I pretended to think about it when in reality I had already made up my mind. Kyung was getting impatient so I kept “thinking” some more.

“Byul, today. Before I die. Before the day is over.”

“Fine. Deal. Stay away from my girls, or else I’ll come after you.”

“Good. Oh, and guess what. I was writing a new song yesterday, and—”

Silence. How dare he just walk away from a conversation like that? He dare hang up on me?

“Ya, Kyung. Answer me or you’re dead, you fu—”

“Hello?”

I immediately froze when I realize that the voice didn’t belong to Kyung, yet it sounded so familiar. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at the caller ID. Yup, I was still talking to “Kyung”.

“Who is this?”

“Saebyul sshi? Oh, hello, it’s Jaehyo.”

I could swear I died for like two seconds there. My heart stopped beating and I was frozen. Was I still breathing? I don’t know I was too paralyzed to check.

“H-hello? Saebyul sshi? Are you still there?”

I nodded then I remembered I was talking to him through a phone which meant he couldn’t see that I was nodding. Ugh, Saebyul you idiot.

“Yeah, I’m here. Whaddup?”

“Nothing much really. Just chillin’ at our dorm, we got a performance tomorrow but the guys seem too lazy to practice right now.”

Okay, why was he telling me all this? Did he think I would ask him to hang out together or something? For the next couple of minutes, I spent listening to him talking about the life at Block B’s dorm – how the boys would spazz whenever Chaos was on TV and Kyung’s hilarious attempt to protect me from B-Bomb’s greasy comments, how P.O. would ogle at Aya even though she was far too old for him, how Zico would go all crazy whenever Katy had a solo shot and so on.

“Huh, the guys must be a handful.”

“Yeah, they’re a bunch of crazy bastards and I’m surprised that we get along considering the constant fights that we get into.”

I laughed at his complaints. He sometimes seemed more leader-like than Zico, but I knew the Jamaican idiot also was a good leader if he wanted to be. He kinda reminded me of… me.

“What about the girls? They must be a handful too or what?”

“Well, yeah not really. I can handle them.”

He laughed and I felt my face heat up. What was this unknown feeling that I was feeling right now? It felt weird and good at the same time. I liked it, but at the same time, I didn’t.

“I never doubted your leader skills, Byul. Not after Kyung told me how you managed to keep track of all the girls when they decided to run away from your manager.”

I laughed at the memory of Chin Hwa’s face when he found out that the others had ran away from him and it didn’t seem as if they would return anytime soon. I had let them have their free time before I decided that it was time for them to suffer Chin Hwa’s wrath.

“Well, yeah. There is a reason why sajangnim chose me to be the leader, you know.”

He chuckled, “Of course it is. But listen, I gotta go now. How about we meet up sometime?”

“That would be… cool. Yeah, why don’t we do that?”

“Great, I’ll give you a call later. Bye.”

“Bye.”

When the conversation ended I didn’t know what to feel. Happy? Excited? Regretful? Confused? Did I just agree to go on a date with Jaehyo? No, wait. He said just to meet up. As friends. Nothing more. Why am I overreacting? It isn’t as if I would fall in love with him or start dating him or something. Kyung got nothing to worry about. Even if I kept reassuring myself that Jaehyo was nothing but an acquaintance, I couldn’t help but to think that maybe, just maybe, had I already broken my promise with Kyung.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Seo Eun Mi’s POV

“Mimi ah, don’t worry about it. If she tries anything, we’ll send Saebyul on her.”

I laughed and relaxed a bit at the thought of Saebyul beating the living out of my rival. Well, I don’t know if we could be called rivals since she was the only one hating on me for no reason at all. Ever since we met for the first time, she kept giving me dirty looks. I didn’t really like the thought of violence, but in situations like these, just thinking about it calmed me down a bit.

“I honestly don’t think she’ll do anything that’ll get her in major troubles. I mean look at her, she looks as if she couldn’t even hurt a fly,” Saebyul sarcastically remarked and took a bite of the baguette.

“If you don’t stop eating that baguette I’ll have to confiscate it,” Chin Hwa threatened as he kept eyeing the baguette in her hand. Saebyul gave him a dirty glare and shoved the rest of the bread in , looking like a chipmunk as she chewed it before Chin Hwa could do anything about it. He shook his head and resumed to his paper works.

“Mimi unni, someone’s here to see you.”

I turned around and saw Thunder standing by the door, looking as awkward as he did the first time I met him. Saebyul raised a hand, as if to say ‘hi’ and walked past him, leaving him alone with a room full of strangers. Well, almost strangers. Aya and Katy smiled at him and Maylee nearly knocked him over when she lunged at him and pulled him into a hug. I felt a pang of jealousy when he didn’t pry her off like I wished he would do. Not that it surprised me or anything, Maylee was known for randomly hugging people regardless of her mood, but still…

When he finally got away from her, he made his way over to me, giving me a shy smile. I smiled back and tried not to look nervous but I think I failed a little bit at that part. We talked about everything and nothing until Maylee popped up from nowhere, telling me to get ready for our performance. I nodded a small ‘thank you’ to her and she happily walked away. I sighed in frustration. Would she keep bothering us like this?

“Seo Mi ah, you okay?”

“Huh?”

“You look a little lost.”

“Uhm, no, I’m fine. Thanks for asking.”

He kept eyeing me, not buying my excuse but eventually let it go and he didn’t question me any longer. He promised to take me to the arcade if we won on tonight’s show and I accepted the challenge. Rebels, I am counting on you guys to vote for us and buy our album to support us!

“I have to get back before the guys notices I’m gone.”

The thought of him sneaking out to see me made my heart flutter and I tucked my hair behind my ear – something I always did when I was nervous. I noticed him raising an eyebrow and suddenly broke into a huge grin. He hugged me and waved goodbye to the other girls before he was gone out the door and in came another person.

“Mimi, did I just see Thunder walking out of the room?”

I shook my head in denial, “He was here to see Saebyul. You know, because they’re cousins and all.”

She crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, not believing my lame excuse. We had staring contest for a few minutes before I sighed and gave up, knowing that as stubborn as she was, the staring contest would last forever until one of us broke the eye contact, and that someone would have to be me.

“Don’t lie to me, Mimi. I know you well enough to know that you li—”

I clasped my hand in front of to stop her from talking too much. I suspiciously looked around the room to see if the others had been eavesdropping on our conversation but they were all too caught up in their own business to even notice that I was talking to Nana.

“Let’s not talk about it here. I don’t want the others to find out about it just yet,” I whispered in her ear and she nodded in understanding, giving me a huge knowing smile and I couldn’t help but to grin too.

Maylee ‘Lia’ Song’s POV

“Good. You’re improving, but you still can’t beat me when it comes to rapping.”

I rolled my eyes at his sudden arrogant attitude and playfully pushed his shoulder.

“If there’s one thing I can beat you at its dancing.”

“Yeah… No. I still think I’m a better dancer than you.”

“Oh really now. Wanna battle and find out who’s the better dancer?”

He grabbed my wrist and yanked me back down on the chair, waving dismissing with the other hand.

“No, no, no, sit down. My legs hurt. Let’s do it another time.”

A cheeky smile appeared on his face and I laughed at his stupid excuse but accepted it anyway. Besides recording some new songs earlier today and dance practice later, I didn’t have any major schedules today, which I was glad for. I used this chance to practice my rapping because I wasn’t a phenomenal rapper like say, Tasha (which is a very bad comparison because she’s the Queen of Rapping, hands off!), Teddy, G-Dragon, CL or Nova but, not to sound cocky or anything, I was a tad better than other girl group rappers claiming they are rappers when in reality all they did was to speak fast.

I sat in one of the empty dance rooms, practicing by myself when Jiyong came by and wanted to “help me improve my skills” but I knew he only used it as an excuse for not writing or composing any songs this afternoon because he felt lazy. So we were now sitting in the lounge, papers with different rap songs spread all over the table in front of us, rapping until our throats felt dry.

“Let’s go through this one more time, or hey, wanna do CL’s rap from The Leaders? Then I could to mine and we could share Teddy hyungs rap.”

I nodded and he proceeded to share the line by dividing the lines by using a familiar four colored pen with the colors red, blue, black and green.

“Hey, doesn’t that pen belong to Saebyul unni?”

He gave me a smug look, holding a finger to his lips and made a hush sound.

“She doesn’t need to know,” he whispered and went back to dividing the lines. I shrugged and took out my phone to check if Chin Hwa had sent me any updates on the schedules but instead I found a message from a certain Block B member. I furrowed my eyebrows because the message was marked as “read” when I was pretty sure I hadn’t read it.

“Oppa, have you checked my inbox?”

“No. If I wanted something from you then I would just have asked, right?”

He looked up from the papers when he didn’t get a response from me. Peeking over my shoulder, he read the message and went back to dividing the lines.

“Who’s U-Kwon?”

“Member of Block B with Saebyul unnis cousin.”

“Oh yeah, that Freeze song right? Hey baby naegero gakkaiwa ni chingudeul da jibe bonae.”

“Yeah, that one. Hey, how did you know that’s U-Kwon’s line?”

He shrugged, not looking up from the papers. “I didn’t. I only sang it because it’s the only line I remember from the whole song. Wait.” He stopped and looked up at me, raising an eyebrow, “How did you know I sang U-Kwon’s line?”

I shrugged, trying to brush it off but Jiyong wouldn’t drop the topic so fast. He spun my chair around so I was facing him and gave me a hard look.

“Do you like him?”

“What? No. I barely know the guy. The only reason why I know that’s his line is because I think he’s cute and so I learned his name. But then again, you know that I think everyone’s cute. Even you,” I said as I pinched is cheeks as hard as possible. He backed off with a yelp, slapping my hand away and rubbed his now light pink cheeks with pout. I laughed and sent a quick reply to U-Kwon, saved his number and grabbed the paper from Jiyong.

“Okay, leader, are you ready?”

“Hell yeah, I’m ready! Let’s do this!”

We spent another hour practicing until the other members of Big Bang came in and kidnapped Jiyong, telling me that they needed him for some group discussions, so I let them have him. He fake gasped and looked at me with a shocked expression as s tried dragging him out of the room.

“Yah, so this is how you treat your mentor? After all the things I’ve done for you?”

I opened my mouth and was about to defend myself when Seungri beat me to it.

“Maknae shut your mouth and I’ll treat you to dinner.”

“Deal.”

With a simple food bribing, they managed to convince me to let Jiyong go and he cried out loud when Taeyang and Daesung got him on Seunghyun’s back and got carried out. The whole scene was way too amusing for me and I couldn’t help but laugh, even after they were gone.

“Yah, why are you sitting here laughing by yourself?”

I turned around and tilted my head to the side, watching as the intruder walked over to me with his eyes glued to the phone in his hand.

“Well, well, well. Isn’t it the violator? Did you find anything interesting on my phone?” I asked him in a mocking tone, trying to catch him off guard, and it worked when he suddenly stopped and looked at me. For a second I could see that he was debating to whether lie to me or just tell me as it is, but he figured out that the latter would be a better option unless he wanted itching powder in his pants. Again.

“Sorry maknae. Your phone kept vibrating next to me and I couldn’t work with the noise so I kinda had to turn it off. Don’t worry, I didn’t read any other messages. Did you reply to him, by the way?”

“Yeah, I did. Why, wanna see what I wrote to him?”

Chin Hwa rolled his eyes and answered a call. “Hello?”

I gathered all the papers, sorting them alphabetically and stood up just in time to see Chin Hwa end the call.

“Teddy needs us in the recording studio now,” he dialed a number and waited for someone to pick up.

“Stella? Meeting in Teddy’s studio in five minutes. Get the girls. Maylee’s with me.”

Walking and talking on the phone at the same time wasn’t such a good idea because he almost tripped and fell on his own feet. I held the papers in front of me, trying not to laugh out loud because he looked a bit pitiful where he lay on the ground, his feet tangled in some weird position, and face flat on the floor. I fished out my phone from my pocket, ready to take a picture of him.

“Don’t even think about.”

Hmm.. This seems interesting.. I wonder what makes Nana hate Katy so much.. It's cool to see that Chaos is making progress in becoming an idol group. Going on shows and what not. What? The shoot was cancelled? Oh well, at least she gets to go to Japan again. I'm falling more and more in love with this story. And it's fun to see different point of views, but not being switched so much. Some authors do that to their stories. Glad you don't. =3 Looking forward to the next update! ;D
