Description
Bae Suzy is an ordinary 16 year old, living in Lake Hanchu Village. Her father is a hunter, along with her older brother. Suzy has always longed for some sort of adventure, and often begged her father to allow her to accompany him when hunting. But she was always told to stay home to do her chores while men did their duties.
On the every 3rd of December a special event is to held for the girls, aged 15 to 18 - the Winter Blossom Ceremony.
The Winter Blossom Ceremony, is a competition which allows the Emperor to meet the most beautiful girls in the Kingdom. The reason being for the Emperor to select a new wife to bear his child. Only one son per woman, or girl I should say. Many girls in Suzy's village dreaded the Winter Blossom Ceremony due to the fact, that Lake Hanchu Village was the poorest, and furthest village from Central City; the place in which the Royal Family lives. Girls from Suzy's village never got a glance. Apparently, the a Hanchu is a powerful demon, which killed many members of the Royal Family long ago. Hence why, no girls from Lake Hanchu Village been chosen for over 50 years, though girls from Lake Hanchu Village couldn't care less.
"A waste of time for us," they say.
But just recently the Emperor aged 47, with 16 concubines, passed away. They say he was poisoned by his wife. They don't know which one. And so, the whole process started again and many girls were relieved. "No one wants a dirty old man touching them, no matter how rich," Suzy's mother had said once. Word escaped from the palace, that Emperor Myungsoo - the new Emperor - was much better looking than his father and was a gentleman.
Apparently.
