The rain came down hard, pounding against the slick surfaces of the windows, some of which were as large as the walls.  Sheets of water poured down them, creating the effect of an expensive water feature.   Jaehwa stepped closer to the windows, pulling her loose wrap sweater tighter around herself, and folded her arms.  Staring out at the lush, green landscape of a variety of trees and plants surrounding her house, she listened to the calming sound of the rain.  It echoed through the walls and around the open, modern floor plan.   She had closed her eyes to better calm her mind and relax, when, after what seemed like several minutes, she heard something above the sound of the rain.  It came and went in a few short seconds, and she listened harder. It came again.  Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat.   Her eyes shot open just as she heard glass breaking.  She flung herself backward, away from the shattering windows in front of her, and felt a stinging pain in her hand as she landed on a shard of glass.  She barely flinched as she raced through the living room, away from the gaping holes in her wall where the windows used to be, and dashed up the slightly curved, white staircase to the second floor.  Footsteps entered the living room behind her and she could hear several pairs of boots stepping on glass and a man barking orders.   "She was just here!  Find her!  You two, check upstairs; the others, follow me!"   She stood behind the wall at the top of the stairs, catching her breath, and pressed her bleeding hand against the sleeve of her sweater, trying to staunch the blood flow.  The cut wasn't severe, but she didn't want to take any chances in leaving any blood behind and giving a sign of her whereabouts to these people; the sooner she could stop the bleeding, the less messy it would get.   When she heard footsteps on the stairs, she dashed to her bedroom and yanked open her dresser drawer, pulling out her handgun.  She always kept it loaded.  She flicked the safety off and cocked it, quickly moving behind the open door, gripping the gun with both hands.   Taking a slow, deep breath to steady her nerves, she waited for a few long seconds before the men poked the muzzles of their guns through the doorway and stepped into the bedroom.  They wore basic body armor which consisted of bullet-proof vests, and were hunched over slightly, prepared for any sudden attack.  And that's exactly what she gave them.   She waited until both of them were in the room with their backs to her before she leapt out silently from behind the door.  She lashed out with a kick to the back of the closest man's leg and he dropped knees, caught off guard by the assault from the rear.  The other
