Areum’s POV

It was 7:05 AM once again.  My fingers clicked down upon the metal lever, watching as the words changed from ‘locked’ to ‘open’.  A cool breeze brushed against my face.  Forever the curious child, I stepped onto the platform of the balcony, hands gripping the icy bar railings as I stared up into the dawning sky.  My eyes looked expectantly into the far distance.  Anytime now.

Then he came.

A tiny speck appeared close to the faint orange horizon, its movements coming closer and closer until I could hear the giant flapping of wings beating against the wind as my guardian flew down into view.

“I’m home!” A cheerful voice yelled as soon as the tip of his shoes touched the cement floors, followed by the ruffles of black jeans, strapped jacket, yet a beaming face to contrast against his overall dark appearance. 

Areum smiled at the sight of her saviour, decked out in all his flying glory.  She stood transfixed in wonder as his gorgeous midnight wings began to shrink and fold away, the last remaining feathers disappearing behind his shoulder blades.  Even after ten years, she still could not understand the magic of it all, and the performance still never ceased to amaze her. 

“Areum-ah, why are you standing outside wearing so little?  You’ll catch a cold, pali and go back inside!” The black-haired man exclaimed when he saw her waiting diligently for his return.  The young girl stubbornly shook her head, before running forward and engulfing the pair into a tight hug. 

The man chocked out a surprised ‘oof!’ from the impact of their collision, but then affectionately returned her hug while grinning from ear to ear.  “What’s the occasion?” He joked as his hands ran through her hair, feeling the familiar long strands between his fingers.  Areum pulled back far enough just so that her flushed face met his.  “Happy birthday, Yoseob-oppa,” She whispered, waiting for the clock to chime as the sparkle in Yoseob’s eyes mirrored upon the fading stars of early morning. 

The grandfather clock strung, just as Yoseob leaned in to peck her unexpected cheek.

7:06 AM.

Orphan at age of 7, with no relatives or family members.  Was found and saved by Yoseob, after being nearly beaten to death on the streets, has lived in his mansion for ten years till today.  Kind and innocent personality.  Knows Yoseob by his demon nature, yet accepts it and always shows her adoration for him as her saviour.

Young demon who dreamed of living in the human world.  Guardian to Areum since she was a little girl, took care and protected her from harm.  Has cute-looking features, appears younger than he is in reality.  Smart, likes to have fun, but can also be cold and ruthless.  Fell in love with Areum since the day he saved her from death.
