Give Me 120 More Years
Description
This story has been biting me ever since I've decided the plot for my next story after Defence. So I've decided to post up at least the forwards part of the story. Everything I'm writing now is bound to change some time in the future, keep that in mind.
This will be a first story in which I will also be adding some fantasy stuff. If you've read my other stories you'll know that I don't work with fantasy elements much. However, do enjoy =D
I'm basing this story off a hmong song. I'm going to post up two versions of the video: The english subbed one and the fanmade one.
***Take note that the names I use in this story are just to represent the images of the characters. I'm a fan of all these idols so don't take anything I write personally.
What else inspired me to start this story?
There was a play/musical at our club's annual 24th conference a year ago. The play had a big impact on me and I was in tears by the end of it along with many others.
The play revolved about the hmong culture. It was about two people who were deeply in love with each another. This play was so creative, it mixed the past and the present together. In the past this couple fell in love, however, because of circumstances the guy couldn't marry the girl and was forced to marry another woman. The girl was left with heartbreak and nothing else. The guy tried to come back for her but she refused to open the door for him. During that moment she took pills and killed herself. Her sisters and parents came back home to find her in his arms.
This play transitions to the present where the two are now with the same last names. Let me inform you that in our hmong culture two people who have the same last names cannot fall in love, it's taboo. They fight and bicker. However, the girl and the guy keep on having unexplainable dreams about their past. The play transitions back and forth from the present to the past and past to present. The two characters get closer throughout the play. When the girl becomes so heartbroken about her past she cries so much, blacks out, and gets hospitalized. There she dreams that she is in another realm alone draped in a white dress. She sees her sisters crying as they walk pass and just as they pass she sees him walking by singing a sad, lonely song. She tries to hug him but cannot reach him.
It comes back to the present where she wakes up in the hospital. Now, the ending of the play is the most complicated. As she leaves the school he chases after her and they come to a bus stop where he takes her hand. Because they are two people with the same last name would they overstep that boundary for love or would the two of them walk on their separate ways?
The president of our club stated something which stuck in my memory like glue. He said, "Back then they weren't able to be together, but in the present the two are already together. They have the same last names. They're already one family."
***This play was very sad and memorable. The actors and actresses did great with their roles. It was truly a touching play. Just thought I'd share since in this story Nana and Onew will both go back to the past then come back to the future with struggling feelings.
Foreword
It's something that comes and go without the eye seeing
It's something invisible that we only feel
It comes in many different forms, shapes, and sizes
It's something real, so treat it right when you know it's there
When it slips out of our grasp there aren't many chances that we'll be able to retrieve it back
"This is...our last lifetime together..."
