The story itself:

What Makes A Good-Looking AFF Story: Hints and Tips

Side note: Highlighting looks ugly never do it.

Look the horror when it's combined with Comic Sans.

It burns my eyes.

BIGGEST PROBLEM: PARAGRAPHS.

PARAGRAPHING! WOOPEE!

I've seen many amazing stories in one huge BLOCK. It's damn right ugly and very hard to read. If you don't really know how to paragraph things it's easy. Start the next paragraph if there is a changing of time sequence like 'The next day' or 'That evening' or 'Later on'. Also if a certain subject changes or there's a new location then zoom-

Put it on the next line! That simple.

Oh and also, this is really really important that most people forget (or maybe never learnt if English isn't your first/mother language) whenever someone speaks you must put it on a new line!

Blah blah blah, character turned to his friend.

"I am an example speech and this is what I am saying," Character said, [carry on with story here]

Also something you should know about speech. If you are adding something after the talking, like who said it or what they did etc then the end of the speech must have a comma before the closing speech-mark. See above example speech for reference! I've put it in red so you can see it.

If you aren't writing who said it or anything after it should be like this with a full-stop/period instead:

"I am an example speech and this is what I am saying."

[carry on with the story here on the next line!]

Story layout?

If anyone of you have seen my stories the you'll know that I like to put this ~*~ at the beginning and end like this:

~*~

Hi I'm HunHan's story woohoo! Notice how I also left align when I write stories. Center-aligning is what you should really keep for the description.

~*~

I like to do that because it neatens it out. Where the chapter starts and ends. Some people like to just put a ~ on theleft before and after the story.

It splits it up nicely if you are planning to write an Author Note (A/N) too. Sometimes I got confused because I thought the author note was part of the story because there was no difference in format or no break from the story.

~

Visuals:

Keep it black again. Sure, change the font to anything (EXCEPT COMIC SANS MS OH SPARE US) but it's insanely hard to read anything if it's in

bright lime green,

or preppy cute pink!

Two exceptions that are alright:

The dark grey.

Dark blue.

But if you are going to choose a colour keep it that colour throughout the whole story. That's right, no changing colours randomly.

Use the same font too. Though I'm sure none of you would ever dream of using a different font for each paragraph.

One super useful tip that you must remember always:

KEEP IT SIMPLE.

MR. SIMPLE.

Magical Suju learning powers.

~

Now we are on to the Authors note.

Sure this is your space to do what you want but keep it in mind that this makes our head hurt when we read it and this just looks hideous and would distract us even before we've finished reading the story.

No, honestly, I've seen things like that.

Now excuse me I have a pie to eat.
