I could see in her eyes that she was scared. But then why did she gave me the knife? Did she want to die? Perhaps she thought I was joking. Or she thought that I wouldn’t do it. Her eyes became a little wet. Was she going to cry?  Her hand went slowly and carefully up to my hand and the knife. I put the knife closer on her neck when I noticed what she was doing. She let her hand fall down again.

“You can’t kill me, can you?” She said as carefully as she could, afraid that I would kill her. I didn’t know what would happen if I’d kill her, I would have to do everything on my own. I can’t save Mai on my own. ‘Maybe I just have to let her live and kill her after this.’ I thought. I answered her question with a question. “You don’t want to die, do you?” She shook her head carefully, still afraid. “Then why did you give me your knife?” I asked. “I know that you can’t kill me.” She answered. Yet again I put the knife more close to her neck. “That isn’t right…” I said. “Then why are you waiting so long?!”

Then I saw it. She was lit up by the moon. She was so beautiful in the moonlight. I stared at her for a while. ‘No, you can’t... Just save Mai and kill this demon girl’ I said to myself. “I just can’t kill you right now.” I said, knowing I would never be able to kill her. “We… I… have a bigger problem now, that I can’t handle on my own”. I took back the knife as she gave a sigh. “First Mai, then you.” I said. “Do you mean you are going to kill me after we save Mai?” She asked. I nodded. “That’s the idea.” I said, She must be thinking that I’m really mad at her. Maybe I was, but I was more mad at myself. I broke the trap. It’s all my fault, not her’s. If I had just killed her in the first place, then I was still sleeping with my head on the table and my weapon under the table, with Mai next to me; also sleeping.

I wished I never met Sayumi. I’m only mad at her these day, and in a few hours I’m going to have the biggest problem I’ve ever had. “So that’s your plan? Save Mai and after that I’m dead?” She asked. Again I nodded. “Okay…” She said “Then go to sleep now, you need your energy for making a plan tomorrow.” She walked back to the place she lied down earlier and lied down again. I sat on the bench and fell asleep.

I woke up because of the sun. It blinded me. I already had opened my eyes but I could only see after a few seconds. I lookes at the grass, but no one was there. Sayumi wasn’t there anymore. “I knew it!” I thought. She just ran away. I shouldn’t have told her that I would kill her. Now she couldn’t help me anymore. Or did something happen to her? I got nervous thinking about it. But why? I got the feeling again. Loving feeling?- ‘No, that can’t be’ I thought. ‘She’s a demon, you have to kill her’ I said to myself. “Sayumi?!” I yelled, hoping no other demons could hear me.
