Lesson 5: How to spend your weekend

(Banglo)

(Warning: Profanity)

It was a Friday night and the city of Seoul was truly beautiful dressed in its night attire. Draped under the black sky, it was illuminated in an abundance of artificial lights that twinkled and outshined the stars. The sidewalks were filled with animated vendors and smelled of authentic Korean food- painting the air with colors and watering ones palette. If one listened close enough, underneath the peaceful streets lived the night dwellers and the steady pounding of a heavy bass. The small trace of alcohol could be found along with the carefree laughter of youth at its highest. All of this leaked from the tall building by the name of Seoul Night highlighted in neon hues.

Junhong shuffled nervously at the entrance in his carefully chosen attire. He was dressed in a white v-neck shirt under a stylish leather jacket paired with designer jeans and brand new vans. He eyed the doors with apprehension as if there was a hungry tiger lurking behind them, and it caused him to second guess himself.

Junhong was startled when his pocket vibrated and he pulled out a phone to view a text from his mom.

Have fun at Jongup’s house. Don’t stay up too late!

Of course, he was sleeping over at Jongup’s house. That was his alibi, but it didn’t matter because his parents were out of town anyway. He felt bad for lying to his parents, but it wasn’t enough to stop him from seeing Yongguk. Junhong put away his phone and took a deep breath to steel his nerves so that he wouldn’t screw up. He was always a terrible liar.

As he approached the door, a heavily built bouncer appeared in front of his path with his arms crossed and his face covered behind unnecessary sunglasses.

“ID,” He stated automatically.

Junhong searched in his pockets briefly before handing him the forged ID within the sweaty palms of his hands. The bouncer stared hard at him as he held the picture beside Junhong to compare. The pink haired boy tried to act nonchalantly by popping the collar of his jacket and crossing his arms while trying to maintain a calm exterior.

A few more seconds passed and the guard grunted in acceptance when he handed his ID back and opened the doors.

Immediately Junhong was blown away by the thunderous pounding of repetitive rave music and the cheers of carefree people. He walked uneasily into the club trying to adjust to the erratic strobe lights and the heavy stench of alcohol and sweat. It was all new to him and he was slightly awed by the foreign atmosphere. Junhong stayed away from the chaotic dance floor, not yet ready to be consumed by the wave of people and edged his way to the bar where it seemed more or less civilized.

He barely had time to sit down when the bartender passed him a colorful drink.

“I didn’t order anything,” Junhong tried to explain.

“Yeah, well that guy over there just paid for you- so drink up,” The bartender said.

Junhong looked towards the direction the bartender indicated and spotted a seedy man flashing him a smile. He smiled back wearily and took a small sip of the concoction. The drink was sugary and masked the strong alcohol well; it almost tasted like candy. He felt the cool liquid burn down his throat, giving him a pleasant sensation that caused him to relax. To his surprise, he took a liking to the feeling and drank it with more fervor until it was all gone. Pouting about the fact that his drink was gone, he entertained the idea of searching for Yongguk. His eyes scanned the rowdy crowd and he quickly dismissed it.

Without his knowing, Junhong was handed another drink with the same sweet flavor and he lapped it up eagerly. A group of pretty noonas approached him and coyly pulled him towards the dance floor. To his own surprise, Junhong complied and let his limps flow with the music. The alcohol was responsible for his compliancy, and moved naturally with ease. His dancing was followed by cheers.

Suddenly, the pounding music died down to a quiet pulse and a large stage was lit up. The fiddling of microphones could be heard over the speakers and the crowd became more quite as they turned towards the stage. A deep voice ignited the speakers as he introduced himself,

“Wassup, people. This is Jepp Blackman. Ya’ ready to have some fun tonight?”

The crowd exploded in an uproar as people waved their hands in anticipation and jumped up and down. Jepp Blackman…Why did he sound so familiar? Junhong looked closely at the man on stage and tried to look past his blurry vision. He had the same strong stature as Bang, the same face, hair, and the same ridiculously large gummy smile. It was definitely Bang Yongguk.

“Jepp Blackman,” He found the alias interesting and smirked, “I found you.”

Yongguk signaled for the DJ to start and a catchy beat began playing, “Alright, let’s go.”

Junhong held his breath and he swore his heart skipped a beat when Yongguk started to rap.

His voice was deeper than an ocean and felt silky smooth to his ears. The words came out with more aggression than he was familiar to, but he decided he liked it. Each word dripped with passion and his voice was colored with emotion; the lyrics were heartfelt and strong. Junhong was quickly seduced by Yongguk’s heavenly voice and he swears it was the best thing since cherry tomatoes.

He almost wished he never witnessed Yongguk’s performance- Junhong could have saved himself from falling for the 23 year old teacher.

Far too soon, the song ended and Jepp Blackman took his final bow on stage. He was bathed in wild cheers and praise as he walked away with a content smile gracing his face. Junhong’s eyes tried to follow Bang, but he disappeared amongst the sea of dancing bodies and he sighed in disappointment.

“You look like you could use another drink, kid,” The same greasy man took a seat next to Junhong and smiled.

He was probably in his mid twenties, and owned a sly, handsome face. Junhong barely registered this, nor did he notice the man’s hand rubbing provocatively against his inner thigh.

All the pink haired boy was able to do was blink and nod his head slowly, “Yeah, those drinks are yummy…”

The alcohol was starting to effect him, and he couldn’t keep up with what was happening anymore.

The man coaxed, “Don’t you think this club is boring? Do you want to do something fun?”

“Uh…Uh huh,” Junhong nodded again when the man started to lean closer towards him.

Junhong was suddenly jerked away by rough hands and his head spun when an angry voice started to shout at him.

“What the hell are you doing here, Junhong!”

The boy swiveled his head towards the pair of guests and waved merrily, “Hello Himchannie, Jepp Blackman-ssi.”

Himchan assaulted the ert with one of his famous death glares, “You stay the hell away from our love child.”

The man was about to object before Yongguk interrupted him, “Walk away before I punch your mother ing face in, you ing .”

The man looked at the two enraged men. Deciding he was outnumbered, he snarled before walking away, shooting curses at the pair as he did so.

Yongguk stared at the inebriated Junhong and was at a complete loss.

“How the did he get in here?”

Himchan frowned, “You tell me.”

Junhong swayed dangerously on his feet and Yongguk caught the boy in his hands before he had a chance to fall, “You are in a ing heap of trouble. Why’d you follow me here?”

“What did you say? Did you lead him here?” Himchan snapped.

“N-no! I only told him I rapped here on Friday nights! I didn’t think the kid would be dumb enough to sneak in,” Yongguk stuttered without preamble.

Himchan hid his face behind his hands, “Babo. Luring him in here like this…did you offer him candy too?”

“Shut the up,” Yongguk muttered.

“You smell good hyung,” Junhong whispered suddenly, causing Yongguk to shudder.

Himchan pretended not to notice and inquired, “Junhonggie, tell Himchannie where you live.”

“Appa told Junhonggie not to talk to erts,” Junhong stuck his tongue out at the fuming music teacher.

Yongguk laughed out loud, earning a mean glare from his best friend.

“I’m disowning him! You’re on your own. I don’t want to deal with either of you,” Himchan his heel to leave, “Good luck with the kid, Yonggukie.”

Yongguk was baffled as he tried to chase after Himchan with half-hearted apologies, but with Junhong’s dead weight to carry, the task was difficult and he soon lost him.

“,” He sighed before thinking over his options.

First of all he needed to get out of the club.

With a giggling Junhong in tow, Yongguk battled the crowd and headed towards the glowing sign that read ‘exit’. Upon opening the door he made a beeline towards his red Kia Forte and threw his student in the back seat. Unable to believe the situation he was thrown in, he slowly seated himself in the driver’s side and stared blankly at nothing.

Taking a deep breath he turned around in his seat to face Junhong, looking at him properly for the first time.

Junhong’s styled bubble gum hair played up the cute features of his face, like his large doe eyes, his button nose, and his small girlish lips. The leather jacket he wore did nothing to toughen up his chubby cheeks and baby face. It was cute. But then Yongguk’s eyes drifted lower, and he couldn’t help but noticed how Junghong’s jeans fit around his waist and hugged his . Or the way his v necked shirt dipped a little too low, revealing the milky white skin of his chest and causing him to have uncanny thoughts.

The boy looked good.

It was a miracle that the kid didn’t get before they found him.

“Where are we going, hyung,” Junhong hiccupped between each word.

Yongguk blinked a few times to digest his works and get rid of his previous thoughts.

“To your house,” Yongguk answered hopefully.

The pink haired boy tilted his head to the side and asked, “Where’s that?”

Yongguk dragged a hand across his face and tried again, “Give me your phone.”

“Ok,” Junhong said cheerfully, only wanting to obey him.

Yongguk searched through the contacts until he came across the tag Umma and pressed send.

“Hello,” A feminine voice answered.

Yongguk launched into an awkward explanation of Junhong’s situation, explaining that he was at fault for informing him about the club. He asked where to drop Junhong off, but to his dismay, Junhong’s parents were out of town and there was no family to watch over him.

“Oh my…I apologize for my son’s rash actions, I promise you that he’ll receive a fitful punishment. But, would you mind watching over him this weekend? The next plane won’t be available till Monday, and I don’t want my boy to do any more damage,” Mrs. Choi asked pleadingly.

Yongguk gulped and a long pause extended over the line before he sighed mentally, “Of course I can…No, it’s not a problem, I live alone. Don’t worry I’ll take good care of him till you return.

“You sound like a nice man, Yongguk-ssi. Thank you again,” Mrs. Choi hung up.

Yongguk tossed the cellphone back to Junhong, which bounced off the boys head and landed on his lap. The teacher started the car and began the short ride, all the while screaming in his head.

Yongguk glanced at his rearview mirror and saw a grinning Junhong, “What am I going to do with you?”

“Whatever you want, hyung,” The pink haired boy giggled.

He inwardly groaned, This is going to be a long weekend.
