Foreword
Daesung’s parents separated when he was in 8th grade. His mom now has a baby with another man and so she talked to Daesung’s father about having Daesung move back with him. She explained that space was a bit tight now since the baby was born and her current husband was working on getting a bigger house. But that would take a while. So already in his last of high school Daesung has returned to back to his old house to live with his father.
He arrived at the airport from America and was waiting for his father to pick him up. It was October and it was getting a bit chilly. He buttoned up his grey tweed jacket and slightly removed his amber bangs with one swift flip. It had been years since he had been in his hometown and he was happy to be back. America was great but he had a hard time with the language barrier, and he missed his father very much. He also missed his best friend, or was he still able to consider him his friend since they haven't spoken since he left. The reason why Daesung never tried contacting him was because he was still slightly embarrassed, but looking back at their friendship he would have never kissed him. Rush of memories and regret passed through Daesung’s mind as he stood in the cold, but soon his father pulled up seconds later in front of him and Daesung rid himself of those thoughts now wearing a smile upon his face. His father got out of the car and gave Daesung a loving hug.
"I missed you" his father said holding Daesung by his shoulders. He had a mixture of happiness and melancholy in his expression, but Daesung still kept his smile afraid that they would both start tearing up.
"I missed you too appa" this time Daesung reached over and gave his father's should a comforting squeeze. His father smiled back and helped Daesung with his luggage. "Come let's go home, it's getting windy".
Daesungs father drove 30mins into town up to their old apartment. It was just like Daesung remembered it. They walked to the second floor of the building and entered the apartment. It seemed like he had been there last week because it looked almost the same. It had a comforting aura to it and Daesung wished he could have visited his father often, but his mother didn’t want Daesung hanging around him. She was afraid he would set a bad example of a man for Daesung, but know that Daesung is almost a man maybe he can teach his dad to be more mature.
"I fixed your old room for you. How about you take a look and get settled in." Daesung opened the door to his room and the light. "I hope you like green" he heard his father say behind him. Instead of his room being the pale yellow that he always hated it was now a bright green. "green is good" he smiled back at his father. Daeaung felt that somehow his father seemed a bit calm than the depressed and stressed man he used to be. Maybe some time alone did him well Daesung thought.
He saw is Doraemon poster was still where his desk. He was glad everything was basically the same and laid in his bed after putting his clothes away. He thought about his room and his house. It seemed like nothing changed, but then memories slipped into his thoughts about the day he found out he would move to America with his mother and her fiancé. He remembered his best friend Seunghyun and what a great friend he was. His feelings were still the same. He would never stop loving him. His first love.
