A/N: This chapter is a bit longer!:) The OCs are actually based off of people I know (Shout out to Sambam and Mariah if you're reading this:) guess which one you are!)

“I wish I could say that I was joking, but I can’t….you have to warn him Kai! I’m worried about him. He won’t answer my calls anymore….”

Valentina’s voice sounded ragged and full of desperation. Kai couldn’t remember the last time the girl’s voice wasn’t full of happiness and bubbly lovey dovey crap. Oh yeah, he does, it was before she met Luhan, the devil’s advocate. The devil being Kris in this situation.

“So you’re saying that Luhan told you that Kris told him that Tao better watch out?”

“Ugh…yes” Kai could hear Valentina’s frustration through the phone, “he said, ‘Kris is pissed, tell your brother to watch out if he values his life or anything important to him’.”

“Hhhhmmm….” Kai feigned being lost in thought. He couldn’t see why Valentina was so worried. Tao was a big boy, he could handle himself.

“Alright, alright. I’ll inform Tao about Kris’s ‘death threat’, meantime go take a break and relax from all this worrying. Call your man candy, he’ll calm you down.”

Valentina couldn’t help but giggle at Kai’s comment. She was so love struck, way too easy to appease.

“Whatever Kai…..just let Tao know I love and miss him…please?” Valentina pleaded. The sadness in her voice was evident. You could tell she missed her younger brother.

Valentina and Tao were inseperable, even if they weren’t blood related. But ever since Tao found about her new found love, he had completely removed Valentina from his life. You never mixed with the enemy and you definitely never fell in love with them. Valentina was guilty of both offenses. And now that Tao was with Jael, he avoided Valentina even more. Kai genuinely pitied her.

“Don’t worry, I will.”

Kai couldn’t keep the smile from working its way onto his face as he best friend begin playing with his hair, further messing up his already disarrayed locks.

“Did you talk with Tao yet?” she asked him, fingers still slowly combing out his hair.

Kai instantly tensed up, “Now, you too? Hmph, why does everyone keep pestering me?”

He was disappointed in the fact that he couldn’t have cuddle time with Laeling without her constantly bringing up unwanted topics of conversation. Sometimes he couldn’t help but compare her to his mother. Well she kinda was sort of like a mother, since she was the reason he was even a vampire in the first place. Yep, that’s right, Laeling was the one who ended Kai’s miserable life as a human. He found that description to be more of a pleasant one, then ‘damning his soul’.

“This involves more than just a few people, Jongin. This involves the rest of the vampires that exist. Do you want to call Kris your king? Or do you prefer Tao, your best friend?”

Kai chuckled, “HA. Call Tao my king? You must be kidding me….that will go straight to his already bulbous head.”

Laeling’s mouth stayed taut in its straight line. “Be serious for once. I’ll never hear the end of it from Valentina until you give Tao her message. She’s already called me four times, asking about him.”

Kai grunted, and slowly begin to arise from his comfortable position. He lifted his head from Laeling’s lap to search for his phone.

“Psshh, will it make you less grumpy if I do it now?”

Finally, she smiled. Her eyes disappearing in the process, one eye slightly smaller than the other. It was something Kai found extremely adorable and for a second he was completely fine, even happy, with calling Tao if it let him witness that wonderful smile.

Laeling was his best friend. But he couldn’t help but wish she was more than that sometimes. He found that he thought that more than often, lately.

He was about to inform Laeling that Tao wasn’t answering until he heard a soft feminine voice on the other line.

“Hello?”

He knew it was Jael from just one word. Her voice was hard to miss. Nevertheless, he asked, “Is this Jael?”

The voice perked up a bit, “yes, you’re calling for Zitao correct?”

Kai knew she knew the answer, and he couldn’t help but chuckle at this. Sometimes it seemed like Jael said things just so that she could make conversation. It was one of the traits he really liked about her.

“Of course, or I wouldn’t have called him.”

Her cuteness didn't save her from his bluntness though.

“Ok, give me a sec.”

He briefly heard ruffling and the sound of muffled voices. He could only make out Tao asking who it was on the phone.

“What?” the obvious disinterest in his voice was evident.

“Your lover is so much more polite. You should take lessons.”

Tao sighed, “Cut to the chase Jongin, you never call me.”

He was right. Kai hated talking on the phone, it was too awkward. He only liked phone calls with Laeling. But he had his reasons for that.

“Well alright then. Your dear sister wanted me to inform you that Kris is now aware of your ‘enticed’ state and has declared that he will get the throne, and will do anything to make sure that happens. She wanted me to warn you. It’s pretty serious, dude.”

There was a brief pause on the other line. Kai could hear Jael asking Tao what was the matter.

“Ah, so he knows then. Well, do me a favor.”

There was a slight edge in his words. Kai instantly did not like the tone of Tao’s voice. He only that voice when he was mad. Tao never liked using enough energy to actually be mad, so the fact that he was already perturbed worried Kai. His best friend was a very stubborn person. He was past what one would call zealous. He never stopped until he got what he wanted.

“uh…yeah?” Kai answered, hesitantly.

“Relay this message back. I’ve already decided that Jael is fit to be a queen and if he tries to stop this, I’ll be out for blood.”

Kai gulped.

The prologue is done!:D So i really like the way I've developed the charaacters but I'm more curious on what everyone else thinks:)

The next thing I will post will be the first chapter of the sequel, and I can't promise when that will happen lol. I have to finish it first. But it's going to be on the long side and it will be back to first person unlike this prologue.
