Clover

Description

"I never had good luck, nor did I believe in it at all. But, I guess that all changed when I met you, my clover. But, one day you'll leave me right? Because I am just the dirt."

"I still remember that fateful day, 15 years ago. That day, I was the one who handed you that clover."

"I knew it from the moment I met you. You never loved me, did you? You loved him, and yet, here you are, with me."

A boy who endlessly trips over nothing, falls, gets back up just to get crushed and stomped on all over again. That's me, Kim Kibum, or, how I like to call it — Key.

I never had good luck. From the average person's point of view, I would be one of those people that are cursed with bad luck. But, for me, however, I never believed in any of this luck thing. That is, until when it was the summer when I was 8. That is, when I met her, the girl that handed me the clover. And surprisingly, that stupid good luck charm of hers actually worked. But growing up, I realized it wasn't all these clovers that she was giving me that was my good luck charm, but, the real good luck charm was her herself. Jung Nara.

Foreword

"Wow," The little gasped in amazement. "That was... a really awesome fall," She remarked.

Stupid little girl, if you're just going to laugh and insult me, then I'd rather you shut up. Do you seriously think slipping and rolling down a whole flight of stairs is all that awesome?! Ugh, what a !

And to top that off, do you think ending up in returning to the hospital room and not being able to go outside and breathe in some fresh air is such an amazing thing?

"Oh, look at you," She went on. "You're covered in scratches... want me to help?"

"No," I flatly answered, turning down her offer coldly. "If you really want to help, then go away."

And she did.

But came back 2 minutes later.

"Here, here," She exclaimed, waving something green and leafy in my face. It was rather small, but I could definately make out what it was. "It's a four leafed clover."

"And?"

"It's for good luck!"

"Pfft, really now? Good luck?" I mocked, laughing to myself. Oh, dear lord, please tell me this girl here seriously does not believe in that.

She nodded, furiously, sticking with her answer. "Have it."

I was still surprised with how stupid she was, still believing in this whole good luck scam. She probably still believes in Santa Claus and the tooth fairy, I snickered to myself. "If you insist," I said, giving in. "But, let me warn you. These ugly green, four leafed things you call clovers... don't actually work."

The wind was mild and the trees were bright and stood proudly, and I still remember, up to this day, that her eyes were sparkling when she said this one line. "It'll work, I promise. Just remember to treasure it forever."

And from that day on, everyday, at the exact same place, inside my hospital room, the room closest to the cloverfield, next that big oak tree, she came to visit me everyday.

And everyday, she brang me a new clover, telling me to treasure it forever.
