Admirer
Description
Based on the true love story of Robert and Elizabeth Browning.
Let me give you some background information:
Elizabeth was a poet who was quite famous in the 1800's, and she had many admirers. But, one caught her eye, a man named Robert who sent her letters everyday saying that he loved her work and that he desperatly wanted them to meet.
Eventually they met, and they fell in love almost immeadiatly. They had to keep their relationship a secret, however, for Elizabeth's father and brothers resented Robert, saying he was a poor gold-digger.
Soon they decided they could wait no longer- they ran away together and got married in Italy and had a child who they called Pen.
Elizabeth had been sick all her life, and in 1861 she died in her husband's arms.
"Smilingly, happily, and with a face like a girl's. … Her last word was—… 'Beautiful'". That's what Robert had said.
