A Dreamer's Wish
We Started a New Verse like Poetry
Placing my hand over my heart,
I breathe in and out at this exhilarating feeling
Will I get to do this on my own again?
Will I achieve the dream my entire body wishes and yearns for?
Reaching my hands for the sky,
I weave it back and forth as the sunlight shines through the gaps
Will I get there one day?
Will I make it through the openings and shine as well?
Lifting my head up,
I take in the scent of the rain that surrounds me
Will I pass this obstacle?
Will a rainbow appear at the end of my showers?
Taking a deep breath in,
I let the tears I’ve held back fall
Will this pain ever go away?
Will this want ever leave me alone?
To dream and to wish
To want and to need
Life without dreams is a life with no meaning
Life without dreams is a life with no disappointment
Life without dreams is a life with no worries
Life without dreams is a life with no direction
Back and forth goes the dreamer and her wish
Do you know what it’s like to want something this much?
To want something you can’t achieve?
It hurts.
Physical pain is felt when what you wish for cannot be yours.
Is this what life is meant to be like?
Are we taught to dream and to wish only for them to break before our eyes?
Is it?
Remember,
Neither successes nor failures are definite.
Tell me, what kind of life are you brave enough to lead?
Will you choose what’s safe and tiptoe through the days of your lives
Or will you,
Keep your hands close to your heart
Your head held high
And your eyes confident
Chasing the dreamer’s wish?
