Standing alone in front of the university building and surrounded by people he didn’t see, Jaejoong looked up to the clear sky and sighed heavily. The last weeks had been particularly tiring. He didn’t recall doing so many things at the same time and he couldn’t say it had been easy.
Now that it was done, though, he felt a bit empty.
Today, it was his so called “last day”. Last day of exhaustion and labour from those few weeks, but first and foremost, the last day of his already long student life.
His last exam took place on the morning. From now on, it was well and truly the end. The conclusion of fifteen school years and five university years on a random yet beautiful sunny day. Of course, he might have some parties, ceremonies and such, but it was only a detail, everything ended today.
Such a strange feeling, he thought. As if he was flying at the heart of another world, a parallel universe. He almost forgot everything, from his courses to his own name, when he walked out of the classroom. It was perhaps the first time he didn't have this soothing impression when he handed in his paper.
For a while, after walking out of the exam room, he spaced out.
Thus, he lost his keys in the university garden, forgot his glasses in the refectory, left his bag with the dirty dishes on the table and dropped his jacket near the garbage… his mind definitely didn't want to work after all those endless nights of study without as much sleep as he wanted. Clearly, his memory and been a bit disturbed too after focusing so much on his lessons, but at least he succeeded. Now, he had to deal with the after-effect.
He body was a bit numb and he was still in his strange state of anaesthesia when he walked back home, dragging his feet and dreamily watching his surroundings. Fingers firmly locked, he played with the keys in his right hand, checking on them from time to time, to be sure they wouldn’t be lost by the time he got in front of his apartment.
He didn't care about the people looking at him strangely as he was walking happily, spirit far from their down-to-earth thoughts. He felt free, empty as well, but he wanted to see the bright side to enjoy it. What more could happen now? Nothing. The day was already special enough for the next three months.
He couldn't have been more right.
When he finally arrived in front of the door he found the landing occupied. Huddled up, head on his kneels, someone remained sat on the floor, surrounded by two suitcases. What was this again?
With precaution he leaned toward him and shook slightly the sleeping guy. He was careful and the move was gentle, but when he pressed his arm, he saw the man falling on the side, completely leaning against the door, but without waking up.
Jaejoong blinked twice. What a strange person.
