THIS IS A SEQUEL TO "A MOMENT"

It’s been years since Youngmin left for abroad, years since you were left, broken and crying in the airport.  A whole day, you couldn’t help but cry whenever you would see pictures of Youngmin in your room. One of Youngmin’s (ex) band-mates would always drop by your house. No Minwoo. You were at least a year older and he always called you noona. As years passed, with Minwoo by your side, you slowly seemed to forget what Youngmin has done to you. You lived a new life without him. As harsh as it may seem, you knew he wasn’t going to go back here…and to be honest, you don’t care anymore. And, you know what happened when Youngmin was gone? You fell in love with Minwoo. You weren’t expecting that he would like you back, but during that one faithful day, under the rain… He confessed to you.

You felt a drop of rain on your nose. Minwoo looked up and mumbled, ‘It’s going to rain.’ Yet, the both of you did not move. You suddenly remembered the time when you and Youngmin played in the rain as if you were little kids. You felt your eyes cloud with tears. Suddenly, water poured down from above. With the rain, your tears fell down.

“Noona… Why are you crying?” Minwoo asked softly.

You shook your head, “I’m not crying, it’s just the rain.” Minwoo scoffed. He was not to be fooled by the rain trick. He cupped your cheeks and looked straight in your eyes. You knew that he wanted to you to tell him the truth and he wasn’t buying, “It’s just the rain” excuse. You sighed and tried to pry from his hands but he held you firmly in place, he didn’t want to break eye contact with you.

“Tell me what’s wrong, noona. I promise to make you feel better.” It was a sincere statement.

“I… just remembered Youngmin.” You admitted and sighed, “We always ran around the rain together.”

Minwoo rubbed his thumb on your cheeks. He gave you a gentle smile, “Maybe, I could change that.”

“Wha—“ You were caught by surprise when he leaned to kiss you. His soft lips pressed to yours. You felt a tingling sensation, just like the time Youngmin kissed you.

You wrapped your arms around his neck as he did to your waist. You kissed each other under the rain. Minwoo pulled away and smiled at you, “I…love you, noona. I always have. I was just afraid to admit it.”

You felt as if a large thorn was taken from you, but a hole was left to be mended, but you didn’t mind. You knew you were going to be okay, “I love you too, No Minwoo.”

It’s been a year since you two were together. You and Minwoo, that is. You were just strolling around the campus when you heard a few students talking in hushed voices.

“Did you hear? The Jo family was coming back.”

“What? NO WAY! I thought they were going to stay there for sure.”

“Turns out there were some problems with their business so they had to come back.”

“Do you think the Jo twins would come back here at our school?”

“Maybe not, they would probably still have a low profile.”

You looked at Minwoo, who was staring at those whispering girls. He seemed nervous that the Jo family was back. But, why? You shook your head at the thought and squeezed his hand. Minwoo looked at you.

“Noona, let’s go.” He said. You raised an eyebrow at him but he simply ignored it and you entered the school since lunch was about to be over.

The bell rang, signaling the end of classes. When you came out of your classroom, you saw Minwoo was already waiting for you. He took your hand and helped you with your books. Pretty much everyone knew about your relationship with Minwoo, and sometimes, there were some envious girls who tried to pry you two apart but they weren’t all too successful. You two were walking home, Minwoo was going to bring you to your house before he goes to his house. You passed by the Jo family’s mansion. You could hear two familiar, identical voices.

“Hyung, let’s go out.”

That must be Kwangmin.

“No, appa might get mad.”

That must be Youngmin.

“But, Hyuuung…” Kwangmin whined.

“I’m afraid that I might see her again.”

“You mean…”

“Who else am I referring to?”

Minwoo tugged on your arm when you stayed to listen to your conversation more. You didn’t want to leave just yet. Was Youngmin talking about you?

“Let’s go.” Minwoo hissed and forcefully pulled you away from the Jo family’s mansion. His grip on your arm never faltered. He brought you to your house finally. You two were silent the whole time.

“See you tomorrow.” You said and leaned up to kiss his cheek. Minwoo smiled and nodded then turned to the direction where to his house was. Was it bad that you couldn’t help but think about the Jo twins’ conversation?

The next school day, you were walking towards school when you heard some girls from your school talking about the Jo family once again. You heard something like,‘They’re going back to school today’ making your heart thump, you didn’t notice that you were already at your school when Minwoo hugged you from behind.

“Noona~” Minwoo sang. He grabbed your hand and led you to inside your classroom. Minwoo noticed that you were awfully quite and always in deep thoughts. But he did not bother to ask you anymore. He bid you a good-bye before going to his own class. Why was there a vacant sit next to you? You sat at the back, but you never had a vacant seat next to you before. Your teacher came in, with a familiar blonde boy following him. Your eyes widened.

“Everyone, you all probably know him, but it’s proper to introduce him first.” Your teacher patted his shoulder.

“Annyeong haseyo. I’m Jo Youngmin.” He gave a 90 degrees bow and smiled. Everyone broke into whispers. You couldn’t believe it. The Jo twins were back. Does that mean…

Your teacher announced where he was going to sit, and just as you’ve expected. It was going to be next to you. Your teacher called you name, you raised your hand and Youngmin went to sit next to you. There was an awkward atmosphere between the two of you. It has been years, and you two haven’t had any chance of communicating with one another during those times. He glanced at you and smiled slightly, “I’m Youngmin.”

“Don’t act as if I don’t know you.” You said, but it came out fiercer that you expected.

He snickered and held out a hand, “I want to start over, if that’s okay with you.”

You couldn’t believe your ears. Jo Youngmin was asking you to begin once again, as if… he was hoping for something that hasn’t crossed your mind in years.

The bell rang, signaling that it was already time for lunch. You went out of your classroom quickly. You wanted to avoid Youngmin. All those flashbacks from the past were suddenly coming back and you didn’t want to cry now. Minwoo greeted you as you came out of the classroom. Just then, you felt a hand on your shoulder.

“Hey, are you—“

Minwoo’s eyes widened, “Hyung?”

“…Minwoo?”

“So, it’s true.” Minwoo said and pulled you to his side. Youngmin looked down at your intertwined hands. He coughed awkwardly.

“You’re together?” Youngmin asked. You couldn’t help but notice that his tone of voice suddenly changed. Minwoo nodded, proudly holding up your hands. He told Youngmin that it has been for a year. You still couldn’t help but notice that his reaction towards you two being together was sad. It was as if he wished the two of you weren’t supposed to be together, but instead… It was suppose to be you and him. He looked over your shoulder to see his brother waving his arms up in the air.

“Um, excuse me… I have to go now. I’m happy…for the both of you.” Youngmin said. He immediately went to his brother and they left to eat lunch together. You looked behind to see that the twins have disappeared. You had the urge to follow him, but Minwoo was determined to let you stay in your place.

“Come on, noona.” Minwoo mumbled, tugging you to the usual eating place. You’ve always thought you couldn’t forgive Youngmin for doing that to you. Just leaving you behind like that. But, somewhere in your heart, you secretly yearn for him. Is it bad that all you’re thinking about is Youngmin when you’re together with Minwoo? You agreed to start over with Youngmin, only to be friends but somehow… you wished you were more. You were starting to become confused. Endless thoughts were crowding in your brain, it started to hurt.

“Are you okay?” Minwoo asked you suddenly, interrupting your thoughts. You gave him a little nod before continuing to eat. You would talk once in a while but after that, you would become quiet again, being lost in your own world.

On the day that you and Minwoo were strolling around the park, you spotted the twins sitting on a bench, talking. They probably needed to be away from their house. Being part of the Jo family was stressful, especially when you’re the one who was going to be the heir of the business. Minwoo ignored the twins, but he didn’t want to hurry up, just like he used to do. You looked at the twins and smiled at them. Kwangmin smiled back but Youngmin… he just looked at you. As if… he didn’t want to see you or Minwoo. He looked hurt as Minwoo squeezed your hand, making you look at him.

“Want some ice cream, noona?” Minwoo asked. You nodded. He took you to the ice cream cart and bought ice cream. Out of the corner of your eye, you could still see Youngmin staring at you with those eyes. Kwangmin was talking to Youngmin but his hyung wouldn’t notice him. Minwoo took your hand and the two of you walked away from their view.

“Tell me, noona…” Minwoo spoke up while you two were silently eating your ice cream. Everything wasn’t the same when the Jo family came back.

“What is it?” You asked.

Minwoo looked hesitant to ask you. He looked as if he was debating with himself. He finally asked you the question you were dreading the most, “Do you still love him?”

“Huh?”

Minwoo’s grip tightened, but it didn’t hurt. He couldn’t look at you in the eye, “Do you…still love hyung?”

You knew he was referring to Youngmin. You opened your mouth but nothing came out. You looked at Minwoo, he turned to look at you, and hurt was evident in his face.

“I know… these past days you’ve been thinking about hyung.” Minwoo said softly, “And, I want to know… If you love him more than you love me.”

“Minwoo… I…”

“Noona, please just answer me. I don’t want to hurt anymore.” Minwoo said. You felt tears cloud your eyes. You blinked the tears away but they just keep on pouring. Just like before, the rain made a sudden appearance and you two were wet. You pulled your hand away. Minwoo glanced behind you, you followed his gaze to see Youngmin and Kwangmin standing there, watching the two of you talk.

“What do you want?” Minwoo asked, his tone was obvious that he was crying already.

“Are you crying?”

Minwoo ignored the question and looked straight into your eyes, “Answer me, noona. Do you love him more than you love me?”

You closed your eyes. Your head started to hurt again. You hate it when you think too much.

“What? W-what do you—“ Youngmin mumbled but you started running away from the guys. Kwangmin was first to follow you, yelling, “WAIT UP!” Minwoo followed, and Youngmin was behind. Your thoughts were blank, why did it have to come like this? You ran, until you were out of the park… And, you were blinded by a light. Next thing you know, everything was black and you heard two voices…

“NOONA!!”

“NOOOOOOOOO!!”

Before you were gone.

“She’s dead.”
