[TUTORIAL] How to Make an AFF-Friendly Background
curious delirium | graphics; resources; tutorials | closedAdmit it; backgrounds make a fan-fiction look interesting. But when it goes too far (too goddamned far) by putting a distractive .gif image, it triggers the devil inside of you and makes you want to kill that goddamned author. Also, it takes longer to load because of the size of the .gif image. So sometimes they’ll ask you to make one. But then how do you make one? There are so many different ones, but here are the basics:
Create a new document, size 294*560. (You can play with the height; the one that really matters here is the width.)
Add whatever you want in it; I blended in a picture of Yuya Matsua and duplicated the background layer and set the blending mode to “Color”; opacity 60% and added some text.
You can add a PSD, but at this stage it’s not too advisable.
You should also make sure that none of the contents touch the edges, since the whole idea of a background is to repeat seamlessly.
If you’re satisfied with everything already, it’s time to resize the canvas. (Image>Canvas Size or Alt+Ctrl+C)
Make sure the arrows look like that.
It looks kind of ugly, no? Don’t worry, kids, just use the Eyedropper tool to pick the colour of the grey background and fill the other part of it.
Is it beautiful now? Yes? Okay!
Now that everything is done, you can add a PSD. I’m using PSD#21 from jaehos @ tumblr. After you’ve smiled seeing the beautiful result you have, you can flatten it and save it. Here’s my result:
Did you find that helpful?
Comment? No? Okies. .___.
SNSD's Flower Power is on replay.
It's a constant eargasm-fest.
And I know this is irrelevant, but on Monday I'm going hiking with the other Year 9 students. I'm bringing a kimono and a bikini lol
Sorry. Inside joke.
Now... those other requests. /sigh/
Please look forward to them! :3
