Songbird; a year of us

Songbird

"Yeobo," Kibum snapped, harsh voice covered in a playful tone, yanking Jonghyun's dirty jeans off the arm of the couch, "How many times in the last week alone have I told you to--"

"Over a hundred, yeobo." Jonghyun rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand, and set his guitar to the side of the couch. "How can you expect me to remember? My memory isn't what it was forty--"

Jonghyun glanced down at the jeans he was holding, and his breath caught in his throat.

.

"Babe? Can you um," He swallowed, "Hand me those jeans?"

"They're dirty." Kibum deadpanned.

"I know, Little Bird," Jonghyun replied quickly, and the nickname rolled off of his tongue, natural and effortless. "I like dirty jeans, remember?"

His hands was closing and opening, outstretched and waiting to close the material in his palm.

Eyebrow cocked, Kibum handed the jeans to him, "I've always had the better memory."

Jonghyun slipped the jeans on, ignoring how they were stiff at the frayed bottoms, and he buttoned them, glancing up to Kibum with a soft smile on his face. "I know."

"And I always will be." The blonde quipped with a grin. "Now, are you going to lounge around all day?" He asked, picking up an empty bottle of dark beer from the coffee table.

"Depends if you're going to wear my shirt and only my shirt all day." A lazy smirk spread across Jonghyun's plush lips and Kibum felt heat rise to his face.

The flush on his face that smoothed down into his neck and chest wasn't from embarrassment.

"Depends on if you want me to." Kibum retorted, catty as always.

The smirk just became wider, and Jonghyun could hardly believe that he used to be an angel, because that was downright y.

"Come here." His voice was a low purr, and Kibum obeyed (which was more than surprising to Jonghyun).

Jonghyun's hands slowly moved up Kibum's bare thighs, the too-long shirt pushing upwards in the process and Kibum's fingers twined into the back of his shaggy hair, locking in tight.

Their lips brushed again and again, and they both just wanted to enjoy the moment together. The dim light from the lack of sunshine coming in through the windows. The warm air of the room. Kibum's solid weight on Jonghyun's legs.

Calloused fingers from years and years of pressing into metal, sharp strings slid up his legs and they curled around his slightly curved waist.

"If you get dressed, we could walk down to the park." Jonghyun's lips moved against the younger’s, slow and languid and so perfect.

"But it's raining." Kibum laughed, and their noses bumped together as his fingers clasped behind his neck, warm against his palms.

Christ, Jonghyun loved his laugh.

"So? Who says we can't just walk to the park in the rain?"

"Um, everyone."

"Are you scared to get wet, Little Bird?" Jonghyun grinned, both rows of teeth showing and his nose gave a slight crinkle with the expression.

"Terrified." Kibum let his fingers curl around Jonghyun's shoulders, fingertips pressing into his tanned skin, and Kibum's own skin was very pale and pure in comparison.

And then they were kissing again, soft and slow and everything was cloudy and dim, like the world outside, and the room they were in. The air settled around them like downy feathers, and their mouths were eager and familiar.

It was all lips and tongue, until Jonghyun grew tired of that game, and he nipped at Kibum's full, lower lip and earned himself a squeak of surprise that the younger would never admit to making in the first place.

Jonghyun shifted their bodies until Kibum's slender shoulders were pressing into the couch, and he was staring, wide eyed, up at him.

"Maybe we should just stay here so you don't have to get out in the rain." Jonghyun whispered, and his lips barely moved against the shell of the blonde's ear.

His voice dripped with sarcasm.

Kibum rolled his eyes.

"I think this is reverse psychology."

"Is it working?" Jonghyun only smirked wider.

Kibum's thighs were hooked around his waist and he was pressing up into his groin which was making the playful air tenser around them.

"Not at all." His voice was a purr back into Jonghyun's ear, and it sent a shudder ripping up and down the older man's spine.

Jonghyun pulled back then, a little breathless and his cheeks had an unfamiliar tinge of pink to them. "Maybe you should put on some clothes so we can leave."

"You should let me wash those jeans first." Kibum replied, smooth as ever.

"Never." Jonghyun removed the smooth and slender ankles from their locked position in the small of his back and couldn't help that his eyes strayed to the boy on his couch, flush on his back.

It dawned on Jonghyun again that Kibum was flawless.

Down to the hangnails on his fingers, and his sometimes chapped bow-lips, and the small scar below his eye.

Everything about him was perfect.

Long limbs, and even longer fingers.

Smooth legs and elegantly curled thighs and his pouted lips and his straight teeth and impossibly dark, catty eyes.

"What're you looking at?" Kibum snorted from below him, knocking Jonghyun out of his own mind, even though he knew exactly what he was looking at.

What he was always looking at.

Clearing his throat, Jonghyun busied himself with straightening a blanket on the back of the couch, and Kibum sat up on his knees, peaking over the top of the couch.

"Do you want to go to the park today?" Kibum asked, straight teeth on his bottom lip.

Jonghyun wanted to kiss him.

He decided to save himself the distraction, and to kiss him later.

"Do you?"

"Yes."

"Then get dressed and we can go." Jonghyun cracked a grin.

It wasn't just raining, like Jonghyun said.

No, just raining would be an understatement.

It was ing pouring.

Jonghyun kept a tight hold on their shared umbrella, letting the rain fall and slide off the sloped sides around them.

They walked through puddles, and after a while they didn't mind that the water was soaking into their jeans and their shoes.

Another thirty minutes passed, and Kibum snatched the umbrella out of the older's grasp and he tossed it aside, and they were soaked to the core in a matter of minutes.

Water dripped down the smooth collumn of Kibum's pale, slender neck and he slicked his hair back away from his eyes, "Was this your idea? To get soaked?"

"Basically, yeah." Jonghyun grinned impishly, kicking at a puddle of water, sending the spray towards Kibum, who laughed in surprise.

"You're such an ." He shoved him back, and Jonghyun just only grinned wider.

"You're already wet!" Jonghyun protested, pushing his own wet hair from his eyes, smirking at Kibum.

The blonde gave a heavy roll of his eyes, and pulled at the cloth of his shirt that was currently sticking to his chest, the pale purple color having grown darker with the rain water. "Let's find somewhere to dry off. We're going to catch a cold out here."

Jonghyun rocked back on his heels, and reached out, taking Kibum's hand, and he laced their slippery fingers together, and they found a small, closed shop with a large awning over it, covering them from the rain.

The concrete was cold, and Jonghyun rested his elbows on the tops of his knees, glancing over at Kibum every few moments, admiring the way his teeth tugged at his lower lip, and the water that dripped off the smooth slope of his nose.

"Are you cold?"

"Mmh," Kibum tipped his head to the side, lips pursing in thought, "A little."

As if on cue, Jonghyun's arm came around his slender shoulders, and Kibum grinned wide.

"Are you trying to seduce me?"

"I'm trying to make sure you don't get sick." He snapped back, playful, and gave him an affectionate kiss on the cheek, lips warm against his chilled skin.

Silence fell around them, then, and unlike the lack of uttered words between others, this kind of silence was comfortable. It was soft around them, with no obligation to break it.

Eyes closed, and fingers twined and breathing steadied and the sun came out, and the rain around them stopped.

Their skin, with the drastic complexion differences, were warmed by the sun, and their hair dried in awkward styles, stuck up and waving in all the wrong places.

Jonghyun thought that Key was beautiful, in this state of disarray.

It was a messied kind of perfection that made his heart want to stop and start at the same time.

"The birds came back." Kibum smiled at the mass amount of birds that returned to the wet ground, pecking for food. "We should feed them."

"We could get some bread or something." Jonghyun offered, watching their wings flap and they chirped at each other.

Birds seemed to enjoy sqwaking at each other, he noticed.

"Crackers." Kibum nodded with certanity.

After a walk through the left-over puddles of rain water, and after Jonghyun handed over the dampened money, they tossed out the crumbled bits of cracker to the throngs of the birds, and watched them squabble and fight over the food.

Kibum tossed another handful, and the group spread up and pecked at seperate piles that had fallen near them.

Both were sitting on a bench, and Jonghyun couldn't help but notice the grin that had spread across Kibum's features as he tossed the crackers to the crows across from him.

"Yeobo," Jonghyun started.

"Hm?"

"You know that my memory isn't what it used to be..." He continued, and he delved his hand into his pocket, searching for something, and his left eye closed in slight concentration.

"Oh, I know." Kibum rolled his eyes, but didn't pay Jonghyun and his movements any attention, tossing out another handful.

"But I just um," Jonghyun swallowed down the sudden nervousness in his stomach, and he brought the small box out of his pocket, turning it over in his hands. "I wanted to give you this."

"Wait, what?" Kibum brushed his palms off on his jeans and turned his attention to Jonghyun now, and he shook his head, beautifully sloped eyes going wide at the glint of the necklace, a silver chain that glittered with the light of the sun, and the rays bounced off the small, metal wings that were attached to the chain.

"Um, happy anniversary, Little bird." A sheepish grin, "I didn't forget."
