Chapter 2

You're not coming home (HIATUS)

We weren’t sarcastic - We were hilarious..

We weren’t annoying - We were just cooler than most..

We weren’t es - We just didn’t like some people..

And we weren’t obsessed..  We were just best friends.

Ji Young never remembered a hug feeling so awkward before, his arms thrown around Junsu, squeezing him tightly, Junsu just standing their, probably an obvious shocked look on his face along with Young Bae whose eyes were so wide it wasn’t normal, seeing as he wasn’t the type to just throw hugs at people, Ji young hadn’t given a proper hug since him and Junsu parted ways years ago, even Young Bae hadn’t received a hug like the one Ji Young was giving Junsu right now.

An awkward silence had filled between the three, and it took a clearing of someone’s throat to get Ji Young to quickly pull away, his eyes shifting back and forth uncomfortably the moment contact was lost and his arms crossed tightly over his chest.  He shifted backwards towards Young Bae who looked oddly amused at the situation, his glances going between Ji Young and Junsu, Ji Young couldn’t bear to look Junsu’s direction, a dominant blush covering his entire face.

‘Ji Young, It’s nice to see you again too.’

Junsu finally spoke after what felt like was the most embarrassing silence in Ji Young’s life, his eyes slowly following the ground until his they met with Junsu’s, that happiness he had seen earlier seeming much more brighter, Ji Young’s mood lifting a little as he smiled sheepishly.

‘Alright then, the awkward greeting have been made.’

Young Bae spoke rather loudly, both Junsu and Ji Young turning their attention to the bright man who reached out and took both of their hands.

‘Best Friends need to make up and talk now! Time to stop gawking at each other and actually sit down!’

Young preached, dragging the two towards the small café.  It didn’t seem very populated, but it seemed perfect for the situation the three of them were in as they entered and took the nearest seat, a nice older looking lady greeting them instantly.

‘Oh my, what fresh faces we have.  What can I get you young men?’

She asked as the boys settled into their seats, Ji Young unable to take his eyes completely off of Junsu, it had been years, and even with a new hair style, make up or whatever he had on his face, he still reminded him of the old best friend he use to do everything with.  It almost felt unreal that he was sitting right across from him.

It wasn’t until Young Bae had nudged him hard in the side did he turn to look away, looking at the older women who smiled warmly towards him.  He bowed instantly out of respect and quickly picked up a menu, scanned it before handing it over to Young Bae.

‘Just a coffee and your special sweet please.’

He spoke, his head instantly whipping back towards Junsu who had handed the lady his menu and ordered only a water, it was expected for a new rookie, they were always on diets.  Ji Young couldn’t help but smile now as Junsu turned his way again, their eyes meeting for the second time.

‘You seem more happier to see me than I thought you would be.’

Junsu implied, laying both elbows on the table, his body leaning forward, head tilting a little, Ji Young’s smile quickly faded the moment he realized just how too happy he was.  Young Bae didn’t look to happy either.

    ‘You’re such a ing liar..’

Ji Young in a breath of air carefully, placing that smile on his lips again, he wasn’t here to remember the bad things that happened with Junsu, he was here to remember to good.  Junsu rose an eye brow slowly, his own gummy smile slowly showing as Ji Young opened his mouth the speak.

‘Today is a new day, what happened years ago can be forgotten.  Right now, all that matters is three best friends are reuniting after years of being apart!’

‘You promise that if I ever vanish one day and we don’t see each other for years you’ll still remember me and consider me your best friend?

Junsu leaned against Ji Young’s bed post, both eye brows risen as he watched Ji Young scribble multiple phrases in the small black notebook.  Junsu’s lips twitched slightly when Ji Young hadn’t answered his question, obviously not paying attention to him.  Junsu’s face scrunched up annoyed now, his body climbing over the bed rest and sitting directly in front of Ji Young who had yet to look up from his task.

    ‘Ji Young did you he..

‘Yeah.  And the answer would be yes.  But why would you go away in the first place?’

He asked, his head never lifting once, Junsu smiling for a moment, but letting it fall to a frown as his head hung.

‘Maybe one day something will happen to where I have to leave..’

He spoke, not noticing how Ji Young had paused his writing, his head lifting up slightly, Junsu’s saddened face disturbing him.  He instantly reached out and quickly pinched the older man’s cheek.

‘Nothing is going to happen.  We are supposed to debut together, remember?  We made a promise and you can’t break it!’

Ji Young reassured patting his hyung’s shoulder, the smile only half lifted as Junsu shrugged his shoulders.

‘If you say so Ji Young.’

‘Hyung, don’t worry nothing will happen, I’ll make sure of it.’

‘You’re new group seems to be doing well. I’ve seen you guys everywhere recently when out and about!’

Junsu spoke, taking a sip of his water, Ji Young having to blink a few times before nodding his head up and down quickly, Young Bae wrapping his arms around Ji Young’s shoulder.

‘Yeah, our leader here knows how to lead well so we get by pretty good! Though we are all still trying to get along better.  Seems a little hard seeing as me and Ji Young are so close, the other members sometimes seem distant.’

Young Bae practically babbled on, Junsu listening with eager eyes his head nodding up and down.  Ji Young couldn’t seem to find any words to say now, his best friend sitting right in front of him, all those words he had been collecting up for years to say to him, and now that he was actually here..  All Ji Young could really do was let Young Bae do all the talking..

    ‘My leaders from America.’

Ji Young glanced up from his now empty plate, the words America catching his attention,  Junsu was all smiles.

‘He’s pretty cool, he comes from Seattle, Washington and says it’s so different over here than in America.  We also have a guy from Boston, he’s freaking huge I tell you, taller than us combined.  And then there’s the one that’s Thai, Chinese and American all in one, he comes from California, he looks like a prince! But he only speaks English, he’s trying really hard to learn Korean~  I’m actually helping him learn.’

Junsu spoke, all with a smile that caused Ji Young’s heart to beat harder for a second, his mind focusing on not trying to show any pain as Junsu spoke about his new members.  He couldn’t help but wonder if they had debuted together, would it be the same way, was it possible for them to all be close.

‘Sounds like you guys are all almost a close family.’

Young Bae spoke, his voice a hint of jealousy, he couldn’t hide it like Ji Young could, Junsu’s face fell a little, but a uncomfortable smile remained as he spoke.

‘There all a bunch of babies, me and Jay have so much work to do when it comes to dealing with them.’

Junsu spoke, his fingers fidgeting with the edge of his water glass, that same awkward atmosphere returning.  Ji Young felt determined though to not let it remain long though when his thoughts jolted to the one thing he knew he had on him in the small bag he had thought to bring along.

‘Junsu hyung!  I just remembered!  I have something to show you!’

He stated rather pleased as he snatched up his bag off the ground, that discomforted look on Junsu’s face vanishing as Ji Young pulled out the small leather book.  Ji Young paused for a moment with it in hand, his lower lip being bitten before he his lower lip and handed it over to the older man, more than happy to see the excited look on Junsu’s face.

‘I have never stopped working in it.  It’s almost full, I might have to get a new one soon.’

Ji Young smiled his own smile as Junsu flipped open to the front page, the flood of memories evident on his face as he skimmed through the old entries that him and Ji Young use to work on all the time, though after a few pages he skipped to the very back where the new entries of lyrics were found and began to skim read through them, Young Bae moving a little closer to him, his body leaning down to whisper to him.

‘It’s still got that foot print..’

He mumbled, Ji Young’s lip twitching out of irritation as he elbowed him, the foot print on the front was nothing but a mere painful memory he could careless about.  Junsu closed the book slowly now, a hand running over just the spot Young Bae had been speaking about.  He didn’t say a word about it though as he passed the book back over to Ji Young, who took it with hopeful eyes.

‘I really like the song called Heartbreaker.  Sounds like something that you could go solo with someday.’

‘What if one of us ends up going solo instead of being in a group?  You know the big man saying he doesn’t want us in a group.’

Junsu splayed himself out in the grass, the park air running smoothly by as it rustled the boy’s hair and sent cold chills up Ji Young’s spine.  Young Bae crawled to Junsu’s side as he too lay flat on the ground, face up towards the sky that was cloudless and blue.  He was the first to speak,

‘Going solo sounds fun, but I don’t think YG has those kinds of plans in mind.  I think he’s creating this perfect boy group in his mind that will dominate peoples hearts like 1TYM did when they debuted.’

He replied, Junsu his bottom lip, his hands going behind his head as Ji Young joined them in the grass, but only sitting with his legs crossed and head tilted back.

‘You think he’s going to make us as big as that one group SM is rumoring to make?  The rotational 13 member one?’

Junsu seemed more curious then ever as Young Bae and Ji Young laughed in unison.

‘I hope to god not, I couldn’t stand having that many people to try and remember their names and getting close too them like they would probably want us to.  I mean it’s not a bad idea..  Just not something I wanna do.’

Ji Young spoke this time, leaning back on his arms so that the wind blew his face a bit more than it was.  The cool air felt good on his skin.  Junsu sat up now.

‘Well I hope with whoever else we do debut with, hopefully not with too many people, we’ll all get along great!’

Junsu stated cheerfully, his hands being thrown in the air and his body falling back into the grass again.  Ji Young rose an eye brow to question his odd happiness all of a sudden, but before he could voice anything, Young Bae had spoken up and all his thoughts just drifted away, because how could he ruin such a perfect mood.

‘Us three are already close so I’m sure who ever else is in our group, we’ll get along with them too.’

‘Um Young Bae..  Can I speak to Ji Young alone?’

Junsu asked, his voice a little shy, timid as they exited the coffee shop, Ji Young halting his movement, Junsu reaching out to take his hand, tugging him towards a secluded area.  Young Bae only shrugged his shoulders, leaning against the nearest wall where he would probably stay till Ji Young returned.  Glancing over his shoulder, Young Bae gestured him to just go.

‘He’s not going to eat you,’

Young Bae joked, Junsu chuckling slightly as he pulled Ji Young along down the crosswalk, the area of business slowly dieing into what seemed like a rural part of Seoul, the part where only cars came to part and then people walked the rest of the way.  Junsu found the most suitable place to stop them both, a nice little shady grass area with a tree that hung high above them.

‘I was going to say it to you the day I left YG, but you never showed up.’

Junsu began, his hands already in a knot in front of him, his posture different from his normal comfortable stance.  This made Ji Young shift awkwardly in place as Junsu gripped his hand a little tighter.

‘So I told Young Bae to only tell you that I said good bye.  But if you had showed up.. ’

Junsu trailed off for a moment, it looked as though he was trying to remember a certain memory, a thought, Ji Young couldn’t help but step closer, an aura drawing him in for some reason, it was a little strange actually from how sudden a new feeling came over him.

‘I could of told you years ago why I had to leave the company.’

Junsu continued, Ji Young just barely tipping his head to the right, that sentence confused him a little.  Junsu HAD to leave the company?  Last he checked, it was his choice in choosing JYP.

    ‘You HAD to leave?’

Ji Young asked now, his confusion getting the best of him, Junsu catching him off guard a bit with such a soft look that appeared on his face.

‘I had to leave, I know it seems weird cause I did have a choice whether a wanted to stay or not..  But if I had stayed, I would of risked ruining a friend ship that could have lasted forever, that still somewhat lasts today.’

Junsu spoke, his voice calm, with a hint of shakiness to it, Ji Young couldn’t help but pick up a year old habit of telling when Junsu’s emotions changed, or when they began to change.

‘Junsu.. You aren’t making any sense to me right now.’

Ji Young replied, Junsu sheepishly smiled, he had to bite the inside of his cheek now when Junsu began speaking again.

‘Now that we barely get to see each other because of our companies, I feel like if what I’m about to say won’t ruin much because eventually our friend ship might fade cause we won’t have time for each other anyways..’

Ji Young exhaled a little frustrated, he kind of wanted to know where this was going, Junsu just standing there with his head down, he almost felt afraid as to where this might be going actually, the part about their friendship fading anyways, it pissed him off a little on the inside because he knew himself he was going to allow that to happen, but again, when Junsu opened his mouth to speak, his jaw couldn’t help but fall open.

‘The reason I had left Yg entertainment and went straight to JYP was because.. I had fell in love with you Ji Young.’
