Immortal

Immortal

It was just like another night for her, another calm yet cold night. Nothing's going on... or maybe not yet. She walked to reach the large window of her room, staring outside at the night sky and caught a glimpse of moonlight. The moon was full, and it always reminded her of him.

She still remembered the very first time meeting him, in the quiet library. It was almost dark, but the sky still had some orange stain on it. Chaerin had to return the book that she lent a week ago, luckily the library wasn't closed yet. She went to the farthest shelf on the right, to the national history section. Chaerin tried her best to put the book back to its place, the highest rack, but because the book was too heavy it slipped from her hands and fell on the floor causing a pretty loud noise. Thanks god there's nobody here, Chaerin thought.

But she was wrong. Little did she knew, there was someone who had been watching her since the first time she entered the library. As she picked up the heavy books she heard a chuckle. Chaerin looked up to see a guy who leaned on the shelf, smiling to her. He's gorgeous, she thought.

"You need to be careful," he said.

Chaerin just simply smiled at the strange guy in front of him. She then tried to put the book back, but she can't reach the rack. Chaerin heard a chuckle escaped from his mouth again.

"You need help?"

Before Chaerin could even saying a word, that guy grabbed the book from Chaerin's grip and easily put it back on the rack.

"Done," he cleaned his hands from the dust.

Chaerin smiled and felt thankful, "Thank you."

"No problem."

Just then they heard a loud noise came from the main door. Chaerin gasped, felt worried and afraid that the librarian might forgot that there were still some people in there. Junhyung frowned, "What is it?"

"I... I hope they aren't forgetting us."

They rushed to the entrance and... they found out that they really got locked there. Chaerin got panic and started to walk back and forth, "Omo what to do??"

"Hey, just calm down. We'll find a way out okay," he smiled.

"O-okay."

"I'm Yong Junhyung by the way."

"Chaerin. I'm Lee Chaerin."

"Well then Chaerin, let's see if these huge windows will work."

Junhyung walked to one of the library huge window. He took out a little pen-knife and tried to open it. Chaerin felt a bit surprised at him bringing a pen-knife.

"Uhm I'm sorry Junhyung-ssi, but I don't think that will work."

He lifted his head to her and gave up, "You're right."

"So?"

Junhyung sighed, "Well I guess we'll be staying over here for tonight."

Chaerin hugged herself, feeling a bit scared.

"Don't be scared. I'm here. It's not like I'm going to let bad thing happens to you anyway."

She felt herself blushing so hard, not because of his words, but because of the fact that she was now all alone with a guy she barely knew.

Junhyung sat on one of the table that located behind the farthest shelf, he jerked his head asking her to come beside him, "Come."

Chaerin followed his instruction, she watched her steps since the farthest shelf area was really messy, books were everywhere. Unfortunately she slipped on one of the thickest book there. Chaerin fell backward and bumped to a mirror behind her. The mirror crashed to pieces and made a loud noise. She could felt a pain that stung her right arm, and she could smell the scent of her own blood in the air.

"Damn. It hurts..."

Chaerin examined her arms to see if there's any pieces that left but turned out that there was none. She sighed in relief, at least she's not hurt that bad. But the blood was pretty much, she started to get panic on making it stop bleeding. Just when she turned around she saw Junhyung stood right behind her. His face was strict, different from Junhyung she knew before. He seemed scary, with only a moonlight that came through the window, it was pretty dark. Chaerin could see Junhyung's eyes that seemed lighter than before. His eye's color changed. Junhyung walked closer to her, his eyes were looking at hers intently. Chaerin could do nothing but felt scared of his sudden change, she somehow couldn't avoid his eyes. She backed off slowly, Junhyung kept walking closer until she got pinned to the wall.

Chaerin could feel his heavy breath. He smelled like a lavender, she thought. When he moved even closer, the moonlight spotted his face, and Chaerin saw something shiny on his mouth, somewhat looked like a... fang?

She felt really shocked and could hardly believe on what she saw. She could even hardly let out a words.

"J-junhyung..."

He grabbed her hands tightly. Junhyung leaned in even closer and brought his face to her neck. He brushed her neck with the tip of his nose, feeling the smoothness. Then he sniffed all the way from her neck to her injured arm that now lifted up in the air.

Chaerin gritted her teeth, now feeling completely scared by his actions. Unconsciously her tears flowed down her cheeks.

Junhyung heard her sobbing and finally back to his normal state. He backed off and pulled his hair in frustration, he punched on the shelf hardly, making it shook and made several books fell down. He growled in pain.

Though she felt scared of him, but seeing him like that got her worried.

"J-junhyung, are you... okay?"

He lifted his gaze up to her, Chaerin saw his eyes back to normal already. His breath was short, he held on his own neck, and he seemed so much in pain.

He tried his best to speak, "I-I can... explain..."

Junhyung took off his jacket and wrapped it around her injured arm, slowly making it stop from bleeding.

He sighed, "Better like this. It was so distracting, you know... the scent of your blood."

"I-I can't understand. That was... You were, I don't... know..."

He looked at her intently, "You think I was here by accident?"

She just simply nodded, "I thought you were here before me?"

But Junhyung shook his head, "Nah, I followed you."

"Y-you followed me?"

He walked closer to Chaerin, "Actually, I've been following you, Lee Chaerin."

She backed off, and once again got pinned to the wall by him. Junhyung rested one of his arms on the wall, while the other hand played with Chaerin's hair.

"Chaerin-ah... Do you believe that there are other creatures besides human that exist?"

"W-well, practically not."

"Then you have to start believing. Because vampires are exist..."

"You mean, you-"

"... I am one of them."

Feeling completely shocked, Chaerin wanted to push him and released herself, but he was much stronger.

"You have an attracting smell to me," he smirked.

He finally let her go, Chaerin quickly got herself out of his embrace.

"You scared of me?" he said with a smirk.

Junhyung followed Chaerin who was now sitting on one of the table. She kept a distance from him, afraid of a sudden change of mood that might take over him anytime soon.

"You were scary," she nodded. He couldn't help but chuckled.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you."

"Tell me more about you. I mean, what are you exactly?"

"Vampire. Two hundred centuries old, and... well, what do you want to know?"

"Are you real? I mean, you drink blood? Are you immortal? Do you have super power?"

He laughed at her, somehow found it's cute seeing her being all curious. "Of course I'm real, I do drink whenever I'm thirsty, yes I'm immortal, and superpower... well, you could just say I'm much stronger than human being like you."

"So you were trying to... my blood?"

"I was kind of losing my mind, but I didn't mean to, I swear. To be honest, you caught my attention because of your blood scent."

Chaerin shivered, she couldn't imagine how it would be if he really bit her. Actually, he could jumped over her and bite her anytime soon now.

Junhyung looked into her eyes, "Are you scared now?"

She gulped, "N-not really. You... seem different. I mean, you seem like the type who won't bite some random girl... Well, I don't know. You actually look normal now."

He chuckled, entertained by her cuteness.

Silence were hovered all around. Both of them sat there without saying a words, feeling awkward. Chaerin decided to broke out the silence, "So uhm... Why did you follow me then?"

He turned to her, now his eyes capturing her not wanting to let her escaping his gaze, he heaved a sigh before letting out a words. "You know Chaerin, a heartless creature like me... isn't supposed to feel anything. I can't love, I can't feel sorrow, I don't know what is fear, I'm immortal, and... feeling empty. We're all just like a beast who blood to make living."

She watched him carefully, examining and tried to read his expression.

"But Chaerin... you, somehow, made my non-existent heart beats."

.
.
.

The knock on the window snapped her back from her mind, she was surprised by Junhyung who was now standing outside her window. She wondered how he reached there since her room was on the third floor.

She reached the window, unlocked and opened it making a way for him to enter her room.

"It's the third floor, you silly," she said.

He grinned, "Well, it's not like I will die from falling down right?"

Junhyung sat down on the edge of her bed. "So... what are you doing?"

"Hmm... nothing," she made her way to his side and sat beside him.

"I'm bored."

"Isn't it going to be more boring spending your time here with me?"

"No. I want to spend the night with you actually."

She felt herself blushing from his words.

"Chaerin-ah, what about we practice the dance for the senior prom?" Junhyung stood up in excitement.

She hurriedly shook her head, "No no no. I can't dance. Besides, who said that I'm going to the senior prom?"

He grabbed her hands, lifted her up from her sit. Junhyung rested one of his arm on her waist, the other grabbed another hand of hers. "Who said that you're not coming? I come, you come too."

He pulled her even closer. Completely lost to his strength, Chaerin could do nothing but to put her hand on his back and the other held one of Junhyung's hand. He leaned closer to her face, "Besides, you'll miss a great moment if you don't come to the senior prom," he said with a wide smile that came across his face.

He hummed a some kind of melody, started to move their bodies to the rhythm. Unsure with her steps, she occasionally stomped on his feet, making him chuckled. As minutes passed by, she was now starting to get used to the dance and her steps were much more better.

Junhyung smiled, "You're not really that bad. See?"

Chaerin shrugged and smiled sheepishly, "Well, because there's only you and me in this room. I... I have this some kind of stage fright and... I'm sure I'll ruin my every steps when there's everybody around," she sighed.

“No no,  you’ll be okay. That’s why we’re practicing it now.”

“Yeah but-”

“But we’re still going to come to the senior prom, no matter what.”

Completely defeated and couldn’t fight anymore, she pouted.

He chuckled, “I’ll kiss you if you keep pouting like that.”

“You won’t.”

“I will.”

He leaned in closer, making his face only an inch away from hers. Her hands were on his chest, trying her best to push him away, but she lost to his strength, he pulled her closer into his embrace. Chaerin could feel his breath and his lavender scent before their lips met. She finally gave in.

Her mind completely lost to the kiss, she closed his eyes and wrapped her hands around his neck. He deepened the kiss, and his hands started to rub her back. She needed to catch a breath now, but somehow she couldn’t release herself from Junhyung, who eagerly explored . Then she got panicked as she felt the taste of blood in , she pulled away from the kiss, now looking at Junhyung who panted for air.

She gasped as she looked at Junhyung’s lips which covered in blood, his eyes turned dark red, and she could see his sharp teeth .

Chaerin touched her own lips and could feel there was blood too. It was her own blood, not Junhyung’s.

“I-I’m sorry Chaerin-ah.. I didn’t mean to...” he backed off slowly and pulled his hair, tried to hold back the pain. Whenever he felt thirsty, he felt his head like cracking and his throat like burning.

“Are you okay?” said Chaerin, worried.

“I’m... okay. Just... stay away... for awhile... Ugh... Your blood...” he sat himself on her bed.

Chaerin walked closer, she lifted his face to face her. He looks extremely pale.

“Are you thirsty?”

He grabbed her hands shook it away, “I told you... to stay... away...”

“When was the last time you drink, Junhyung?”

“Ugh... It was... a month ago.”

A month ago? That's pretty long time, thought Chaerin. She was pretty shocked that Junhyung could hold his thirst for that long.

Actually she ever asked what will happen if he doesn't drink blood and let his thirst take over his body. A creatures like him, though much stronger and couldn't easily be killed, had a weakness point too. If they didn't take blood for a long time, their body would slowly crushed. She was scared that Junhyung might turned like that due to his trait, he only drinks blood with a certain scent. He was just too picky, and besides, drink often could attract people's suspicion because of the amount of prey that he might killed.

"Chae... stay away..." he finally stood up, made his way to the window and was about to leave her room, but Chaerin grabbed his hands.

"Jun, m-maybe... I can help..."

Then she remembered the words he said the first time they met.

'You caught my attention because of your blood scent.'

He likes my blood, she thought.

He stared at her for what seemed like eternity. Junhyung shook his head finally got what she meant, "No Chae, I can't do that. I might hurt you if I lose control. You're too fragile... I might even kill you..."

"But you need help! You can't find any other that match your taste than mine right?"

"Chaerin... you don't have to do that..."

She walked closer to Junhyung, hugging him tightly, "It's okay, Jun. Because I don't want to lose you."

Chaerin bit her own lips hard until it bled again, then kissed him on the lips. She could feel the taste of her own blood.

Junhyung pulled her closer and kissed her back, eagerly. She now got her hands wrapped around his neck. Chaerin panted for air as he pulled back from the kiss, he the last drip of blood on her lips.

He looked into her eyes intently, "Chae, you sure about this?"

She just nodded, then slightly tilted her head, sweeping the lock of her long blonde hair that covered her neck. It was now exposed, Junhyung felt slightly relieved that she wore a tank top making him had a better access to her neck.

He brushed the tip of his nose along her neck, his breath sent shiver down her spine. Chaerin gasped at Junhyung being such a tease. He kissed her neck down to her shoulder, and slowly removed her tanktop strap.

She felt the cold air brushing her sensitive skin. Her heartbeats were getting faster and intense as he stabbed the two sharp teeth into her blood vein. He could hear a small groan escaping , but his lust of blood already taken over him now. Chaerin slowly felt her eyes became heavier, and finally lost her consciousness in his embrace.
