Surprise? HAHAHA. I've been writing a lot on my free time pero not as fast as I used to. Anyway, enjoy~

For their condo premises kasi, bawal umakyat ang delivery person so the lobby assigns a maintenance guy to deliver heavy items to their doorstep. They were talking via the intercom as hindi pa siya ready makipagmeet sa mga tao since she hasn’t worn her bra yet. At home kasi, mas comfy siya without using bra over her pink sando.

“Ah, pakiiwan na lang po jan. Thanks po.” she answered hastily at tumayo na siya from her yoga mat. She changed her clothes to a decent oversized shirt with a bra underneath.

Once she was sure that the delivery person wasn't there anymore, she stepped outside para ipasok ang water niya. Her arm muscles flexed as she lifted the round 5-gallon container.

Almost a year of living alone and she can confidently say na she improved her stamina. Lalo na nung naglilipat siya ng mga furniture niya and she had to do it alone. For the delicate items like countertop na may glass finishing, she hired the store’s delivery person to help assemble tapos nagbayad na lang siya ng extra.

Nonetheless, simpleng buhat ng tubig, fixing ng cabinet nails and setting up easy DIY stuff, she can do it herself. Napansin niya nga na medyo maluwang na yung pagkakapako ng isang side ng bedside table niya so kinuha niya yung hammer and nails niya from the farthest cupboard. Namili siya between uno, dos and kwatro na pako. She knows there’s a lot more but so far, those sizes are enough for things she needs. She decided na kwatro would be enough.

It was 8 in the morning at madidinig na ang pagpupukpok niya sa kwarto niya that weekend. Then she moved to another section to lock the nail.

Inulit niya ang pagpupukpok 2x more then stood up to test the sturdiness of her newly fixed table.

Binuhat niya muna ang foam at unan niya papunta sa balcony upang maarawan, put the covers on her laundry sack for large items tapos nagremove ng mga curtains.

Sumasakit na kasi ang likod niya sa dining chair niya when she writes so she opted to buy an office chair.

On cases like this, she learned na trial and error works.

She silently patted herself in the back.

Her fourth advice, “Learn to do mundane tasks of the other gender. Stop gender bias.” is something she was slowly building and improving toward her self-improvement and growth.

She accepted that stigma as normal for the majority of her life.

That is until she had no man to rely on but herself.

And that is why it is essential for a woman to learn stuff na “pang-lalaki” daw because you never know. You might even excel on it better than your partner. Besides, it doesn’t hurt that you know how to take care of yourself.

Too drained to cook, she used her phone to dial Star Cafe to order her coffee and pastry fix as she also relaxed her body as she waits.

It was supposed to be her regular chores day.

“What the hell happened to you?” nagtatakang bungad ni Winter nang pinagbuksan siya ni Karina na basang basa pa from her chest to her shorts. Pati mukha at buhok nito ay halatang nawash up din all over.

“Seriously, what happened?” nag-aalalang tanong nito sa dalaga. It wasn’t that hard to guess that Karina lives alone dahil ilang beses na din nagdeliver si Winter doon at laging ito lang mag-isa ang naabutan niya except when Somi was over.

“I don’t know.

But she can’t possibly call them for obvious reasons. Nung nagawan niya ng paraan na liitan ang leak using a goma na napulot niya from her carpentry kit, she grabbed her phone to seek her options.

Mas lalo naman na walang masasagot si Somi since she still lives with her parents. For some reason, she thought of asking Jaemin.

After kasi ng reunion e everyday na sila magkatext. They haven’t pushed through with the hangout plans kasi tomorrow pa daw free ang lalaki. Anyway, nahiya si Karina sa naisip niya kasi parang ang kapal ng mukha niya and too forward to do such task for her. Kahit na feeling niya ay type siya nito based on their chat interactions sa Messenger.

“Let me see.” Winter’s soft voice pulled back the soaked woman to reality.

“Ha?” flustered na sagot ni Karina then looked at Winter unconvincingly. She smiled in uncertainty as she fidgeted on her phone. “I’ll just call a plumber.”

“I know how to fix sink kaya…lodi ko si Super Mario at si Luigi no.”

Nag roll eyes si Karina sa kanya. It was evident sa expression ng mukha ni Karina na wala siyang tiwala sa plumbing skills nito. Valid din naman ang hesitation niya. Apart from she knows Winter as barista/pâtissier na marunong magdrive at sumasali ng fun run, wala na siyang ibang alam. Kapag nagkakasama kasi sila ay mas focus nito ang harutin siya than talk about them.

Chapter 6: It's just sad to think na some pretty girls like Rina here na hindi sila pangseryosohan. They feel like once nakuha na nila gusto nila sa kanya, they will leave her lang. I hope Winter or Jaemin shows her the treatment and love she deserves.

Thank you for the update, Rhi!

Chapter 2: Guidelines, self-help books-- I had more than a fair share of indulging in them, but this fic, with a stubborn conviction, I would classify as a revelation book.

Firstly, How to Not Have a Jowa, in my plausible assumption, reckon more towards and beyond the common way of scrutinizing or looking at the imminent situation to show how different straying factors connect to undermine our vigorous desire to live a more satisfying life without the need for a companion, a life partner that is. The writer's perspective in this fic encompassed authenticity and divulged assertiveness on certain life experiences, not just in terms of love but in general, in a way that was either surprisingly startling and most importantly, giving you a hopeful positive attitude.

The character's working on her insecurities not only showed her flaws, but the human's tendency to grow out of her previous or perhaps ongoing consciousness towards herself. The writer subtly introduced and engaged us in this short but fascinating take of how she gleaned her insights centered on living a wholehearted and thrilling life, again: independently.

Most self-help books have those moments where you got a "huh, that doesn't quite resonate and apply to me" vibe and force you to proceed on reading more so you can find more situations you can relate into. But that was not the case here. It's more like a eureka type of vibe— that "ah ha!" moments that were susceptible to scaffolding the elements where the character functioned not just as a manual on fixing an out-of-balance life, but a set of a powerful example for a fully engaged and connected life. A revelation, indeed.

Note: This is exclusive for the first two paragraphs of this chapter. I haven't read the rest yet.

Kudos, tor!

Chapter 1: This story has a different approach than most of the stories written by the same writer. I can't pinpoint it yet, but I like how the writer creatively meandered to this type of writing: light, fresh, and youthful concept.

The acclimatized introduction of the character was disregarded in a new provided route by imperceptibly showing their characteristics as the story progresses. It did show how the writer exceptionally advanced and developed her writing skills. It might be difficult to compare this from others, concept and style-wise, but the expansion of growth was adamantly evident.

It's always good to read lighthearted stories, so friendship banters were greatly appreciated. The usual exchange of conversations brought more natural and prevalent normalcy to the feeling of being at home: comforting, refreshing, alleviating, a breath of fresh air. To know that the main character also had her own apprehension and being skeptical to what other people, especially her friend, always say about her physical attributes, felt like a pat on someone's (reader's) back. Again, comforting.

The main character's self-realization and discovery might inspire how people should treat and appreciate themselves and intuitively react to how people identify and only grasp a little understanding of how basic human decency works.

Let's bring it forward to how the main characters' first meeting was a good attempt for humor. It was adorably chaotic. The mix and match of how their characteristics connect was satisfyingly appealing.

"Be with someone who makes you feel beautiful without having to try." was a substantial and needed encouragement to everyone.

This story is not just pure fictional. It tells a quarter of someone's realistically deliberating situation; an inspiration and a confident endeavor of how women should support each other.

Excited to see how this story will progress.

Kudos, tor!
