Prologue

“Yah. Fany, are you sure about this?”

“Of course, I’m sure.” I looked back at my best friend. Jessica warily looked around her for any signs of circus workers. I don’t see why she bothered. There were none around us. I carefully walked alongside the lining of the large circus tent, trying to not create any large noises.

Jessica played with her blonde hair as she crept alongside me. “Tell me why I let you do this again.”

“Because you love me.” I flashed my eye-smile at her.

Jessica stayed expressionless. “Mhm. But do we seriously have to sneak around so you can get an autograph from that one short circus worker?”

“It’s Taeyeon,” I hissed. “Being short just adds to her many charms. And I don’t just want to have an autograph. I want to have a small talk with her too. Besides, we sneaked into the circus anyway. Why not sneak around some more?” I twiddled my fingers, already imagining the kinds of conversations Taeyeon and I would have.

“You know we’re going to get caught one day sneaking into the circus every time,” warned Jessica.

“We’ve been doing this for a few months already. The security here . We’re totally fine,” I assured Jessica.

“Yeah but-”

“Oh my god! I found her!” I squealed trying to keep my voice as quiet as possible. I started to frantically point at the short goddess who was talking to a group of girls a few meters ahead of me.

Jessica hurriedly placed her hand over my mouth. “You’re so loud! Even when you’re whispering! Do you see that?” She pointed at the sign on the circus tent that said “Do Not Enter.”

I nodded.

“Great! Let’s leave!” Jessica tried to drag me away. But like hell I was going to leave when Taeyeon was right in front of me, in total reach.

I pulled Jessica’s arm away from me and started to walk toward Taeyeon. Jessica ran toward me and tried to tell me to stop. “Come on, Fany. Don’t you remember what the ringleader always says? ‘But remember; don’t wander in too far because what comes in…never comes out.’ Doesn’t that tell you that this place could be dangerous?”

“Relax. It’s just to scare little kids so they don’t wander away from their mommies.”

“Aigoo. It’s way too hot to deal with you anymore.” Jessica started to fan herself with her hand. I wiped the sweat off my brow. The heat of the summer was starting to get to me. It was probably worse for Jessica.

I continued to walk toward Taeyeon and Jessica reluctantly followed me. I crouched behind one of the many large boxes lying outside on the ground. I’ll have to say, I made a pretty good ninja. It was pretty surprising that I still wasn’t caught yet. Security really must .

I peeked my head out to see Taeyeon staring…right at me. Her eyes widened once she clearly saw my face. Then she started to wave her hand. Oh, was she saying hi to me? I waved back at her, a large smile on my face. Taeyeon frantically shook her head and mouthed something to me. She pointed at the direction of Midnight Circus’ entrance.

…Was she telling me to leave? Hah. If you haven’t noticed already, I’m a pretty stubborn person. There’s no way I was going to let this chance go by this easily.

Suddenly, I heard Jessica’s high pitched squeal. I looked behind me to see the ringleader, finely dressed in a blue suit, tightly grabbing Jessica’s skinny arm. “And just what do you think you’re doing here?” he asked in this deep, yet somewhat alluring, voice.

“…Hi?” I forced a weak smile on my face. I gulped. I was in trouble, deep trouble. And for some odd reason, Midnight Circus’ introduction continued to ring in my ears.

But remember; don’t wander in too far because what comes in…never comes out.

A/N: S: Hello! Thanks for reading this story. As of right now, this fic will not be updated frequently as I'm trying to finish another fic "Hope For Tomorrow". I'm posting up another new fic too. Kill me. V is also creating another story too: "Heaven vs Hell". Haha we're now joining the other authors with too many stories. I just wanted to post this up just so I remember it and I HAD to write it. I was getting so much inspiration. LOL Thank you once again!

I got my inspiration from Sunny Hill's MV "Midnight Circus" (If you haven't watched it, go check it out! So amazing!). Sunny Hill is pretty underrated and just recently got popular thanks to "The Grasshopper Song" so I wanted to give my tribute to them since they became one of my favorite k-pop groups. :P So Sunny Hill members will probably be in here.
