Bipolar Moods & Marriage Proposals

Bipolar Moods & Marriage Proposals

“Jessi?” Tiffany plops down on to the bed beside the unmoved brunette whose eyes were currently fixated on a new book.

“Hey…”

Tiffany pouted at the measly response. “Jessiiiiiii~”

“What?”

“You’re not paying attention to me…”

“Tsk. Of course I am…”

“You’re not. You’re ignoring me.”

Jessica scoffed, still not looking up from the book. “You’re being melodramatic again, Fany…”

Tiffany sat up and glared at her so-called fiancée. “Are you saying I’m too sensitive?”

“No,” Jessica’s eyebrows furrowed as she finally glanced at the girl. “Geez. Where’d you even get the idea?”

“You said I’m melodramatic! That translates to ‘overemotional’, which means you’re saying I’m too sensitive!!!”

“You’re twisting my words! I only meant you’re exaggerating things!”

“Still means you’re saying I’m too sensitive!!” Tiffany huffed.

Jessica’s jaw dropped at this bizarre situation. As she recalls, she was just happily basking in the silence of her room, just peacefully internalizing every word written on the book… and now, she was completely lost.

How did we get to this conversation again?

Still seeing no major response from Jessica, the younger girl pouted once more, her mesmerizing eyes staring into Jessica’s as if working a spell.

And indeed, just like a spell, the knots on Jessica’s forehead immediately smoothed out. Her expression softened at seeing those adorable eyes and enticing lips.

Jessica let out a sigh. There were seriously no loopholes when it comes to Tiffany. The dark haired girl always gets what she wants.

Without a second thought, she closed her book and threw it on the corner of the room.

“I’m sorry for ignoring you and saying you’re melodramatic,” she said quietly. “…or ‘too sensitive’.”

Tiffany turned away and pouted even more.

“Fanyyyy~”

“…”

“You’re not paying attention to me, baby…”

“Hmph.”

“You’re ignoring me,” Jessica cleverly mimicked again.

A small smile almost crawled on Tiffany’s lips. Almost. “You deserve to be ignored, you book nerd. You won’t even hear me out.”

“I’m sorry… I’m all ears now. You have my full attention.”

Tiffany looked back at the older girl. “Still doesn’t change the fact that you ignored me for that stupid book.”

“Stupid?! That book wasn’t—” Jessica stopped herself as Tiffany’s gaze turned sharp. “I meant, the book wasn’t just stupid, it’s full of crap… And I’m really sorry, okay? It distracted me for a little while… but you will always be my biggest distraction.”

“Really…?” Tiffany’s voice came out as a gentle whisper, much like a child’s.

“Of course, honey.”

Tiffany smiled and cuddled her fiancée after a brief peck on the lips. “You’re so sweet.”

Jessica sighed in relief and she mentally patted herself on the back. Nice save.

“So… what was it that you wanted to tell me before you disturb—” Jessica flinched as she felt a hard nudge to her rib. “I meant, before you graced me with your lovely presence!”

Tiffany sat up excitedly as she remembered what she came to talk about. “I was just thinking!”

“That can’t be good,” the brunette commented spontaneously, earning her a glare and a hard smack on the arm. “I’m kidding!”

Tiffany narrowed her eyes for a second before shrugging off the comment. Her expression brightened as she got back to her previous thoughts. “As I was saying… I just realized that it’s a leap year! Today’s February 29!!”

An eyebrow raised as Jessica realized that Tiffany would probably ask the most typical question about it. This childish girl interrupted her sacred reading hour just for a stupid question.

Jessica suspected Tiffany just wanted to keep her away from her book.

She wasn’t about to voice out her opinion, though.

She let out a breath and decided to see where this conversation would lead them to. “Okayyyy… so what?”

“I was thinking about how awesome it is… If a person was born on February 29, technically, she only gets older every four years right?”

Yup, that darn typical question.

Jessica sighed once more. “Theoretically in numbers, yes… but c’mon, Tiff… you STILL get older physically even if you decide to celebrate your birthday every four years.”

“It’d be cool if you get older slower, though… Everyone would be like 80 and you’d still be 20! Like a vampire, oh my gosh!!” Tiffany clasped her hands delightfully at the thought.

Jessica rolled her eyes at her wife-to-be who was most probably having a seconds-length of daydream about that blasted shiny vampire in a book. She swore she even saw stars flickering on the girl’s eyes.

Tsk. Never mind. I’m still hotter than that dude.

“That would be so daebak, right, Jessi??”

“Yeah, yeah,” Jessica answered flippantly. “But I wouldn’t want to be born on the 29th.”

“Why?” Tiffany asked curiously.

“Because people say the leap years bring bad luck, hardships, etc…”

“Aw… that ,” Tiffany’s face fell, her mood suddenly shifting 360 degrees.

Damn. Jessica mentally berated herself as she noticed this.

“But you wanna know something cool about the 29th?”

Tiffany looked up, her eyes hopeful. “What?”

“Apparently, it’s become a tradition for women to propose to their boyfriends, instead of the guys usually doing so…”

“Woah!” Tiffany beamed. “Is that true?”

Jessica nodded and smiled. “Yeah.”

“That’s sooooo freakin’ cool!!” Tiffany lunged herself at Jessica, both of them falling back to the soft pillows. “Thanks for telling me, Jessi!!”

Jessica chuckled at Tiffany’s bipolar-ish mood. It always warmed her heart every time she sees the girl’s carefree smile. Her smiles always made her feel like floating on a cloud.

“Jagiya…”

“Yes, Fany baby?”

“I take back my answer…”

“…to what?”

“…to your marriage proposal to me.”

!!!

“Let’s get engaged again after four years!! I wanna propose to you, instead!”

The smile was instantly wiped out.

WHAT!!
