난 breakin’ my rules again

Breaking all the Rules again (One Shot)

Three years had passed since the lawsuit; Yunho was getting tired and stressed out due to the tide of schedules that were coming their way. ChangMin couldn’t help but grow worried about Yunho.

The elder was always coming down with flu, and he didn’t know exactly what to do for Yunho except to stay by his side to look after him. There were nights where Yunho would lock himself up in his room to cry himself to sleep. The younger would just stand outside the door waiting for the leader to calm himself down, to stop crying. It would come to a point of time where it became a habit. The younger would sit outside his room and wait till he’d stop sobbing, make sure that Yunho was fast asleep then return to his room.

I wish I could see you again.

Schedules were so tight HoMin had to fly all over the country just to satisfy the fans and SME hardly gave them any rest except a measly two days off which seemed short lived.

The nights went by as a routine, and finally ChangMin, unable to take his hyung’s sadness anymore barged into his room claiming his seat beside the elder and turned to him. His face determined to talk this out.

“Hyung, I need to know this.” He said firmly as Yunho buried his head in his hands, unable to stop the sobbing noises that came out from the back of his throat.

Meekly, Yunho looked up, his eyes red, his cheeks wet from the tears. “What is it?” He said wiping off those tears.

“Do you miss JaeJoong hyung?” ChangMin asked, hoping the answer he got would help.

Yunho looked at him for a while, and then broke into tears again making the maknae more flustered. He threw his arms around Yunho and held him tight, his own tears threatening to fall. Damn it ChangMin, don’t cry!

“Hyung.” He tried again.

“Yes.” Was Yunho’s silent reply. “I miss him.”

That was all ChangMin needed. He was sick and tired of the separation and he was mad at SM for splitting them up. On top of it, he was mad at himself for not being able to do anything. THIS. I’M DOING SOMETHING.

-----

“JaeJoong hyung?”

Kajima….

“Hyung!”

Kajima Yunho yah…

“HYUNG!”

JaeJoongs’ eyes flew open, his breath in short gasps and he turned to see a worried YooChun standing beside his bed.

“Oh… YooChun ah…” He muttered wearily as he got out of bed.

“Were you dreaming again?” YooChun asked.

“No.” JaeJoong lied and headed towards the bathroom. He closed the door and stripped to absolutely nothing and the shower. His mind still in a whirl of thoughts.

It’s been three years and they didn’t get to talk to HoMin even once and even if they wanted to, their numbers had probably been changed by the evil money eating company. All hope seemed lost.

He sighed heavily, his eyelids falling shut and the scene of their last stage together made him shudder. How he’s eyes failed to meet Yunho, how he felt like he’d betray them. He wanted tell it all to YooChun but those words never came out. He hated himself for being so distant.

Three years was enough torture, and if splitting was anything to go by, it was like stabbing a knife through your heart. He found himself crying, sobbing like a baby as his tears started to fall unconsciously, dripping into the water of his tub.

When he realized that he was crying, he angrily slapped the facet until the water became ice cold. Maybe, hopefully, probably it would drown out his sorrows.

-----

“I’m going for a jog.” Yunho said plainly to ChangMin who looked even more worried.

Yunho looked in no condition to even lift a dumbbell and he was going jogging?! “Hyung!” ChangMin called after the Leader as he headed out the door.

Then ChangMin set out on his plan. If he didn’t succeed, the word ‘Evil genius’ might just as well go down the drain together with his plans. He had to succeed. He must. He pulled out his phone and hit the dial button.

“Yes, yes, T.O.P hyung?”

-----

“Junsu, stop gorging down your food.” JaeJoong complained as Junsu continued to shovel his ramen into his mouth.

“But I’m hungry!” Junsu complained with a mouthful of noodles and swallowed it. “Hyung, why aren’t you eating?”

JaeJoong had not touched his food at all; in fact, it still looked very much intact.

“Hyung, why are your eyes red?” YooChun asked suddenly, concerned. “Were you crying?”

JaeJoong snapped his head to the side and stared at YooChun blatantly. “NO.” he said firmly, and pushed himself out of his chair.” I’m done eating.”

“BUT YOU HAVEN’T TOUCHED YOUR FOOD!” YooChun called after him. Junsu stood up immediately and strode over to JaeJoong who turned and glared. “Leave me alone!”

“Hy-ung….” YooChun started.

“STOP ING DISTURBING ME! WHY DO YOU CARE IF I DIDN’T EAT? HUH?!” JaeJoong screamed from across the hall and Junsu cringed in shock as JaeJoong flared out at them for the first time.

“Jae… Hyung…” Junsu tried.

Then JaeJoong threw his fingers to his temples to massage them. “Look, I’m sorry I screamed at both of you, I’m just…. Going for a walk.” He said flatly and walked out the door.

YooChun turned to Junsu who still looked flustered. “We need to do something.”

----

“Hyung, I need a very big favor of you.” ChangMin began as the man over the line picked up.

“ChangMin? Is that you? Long time no talk~”

“Yeah, Yeah, enough of the greetings, hyung, could you get give me Jae hyung’s handphone number?”

“Why?

“Don’t ask, do you have it?”

“Yes. Wait a sec.”

ChangMin paced up and down the room until the man on the other line hit the  ‘unhold’ button on his phone.

“Hyung.”

“Yeah here it is, 820-xxxx-4658, I thought, you had it?”

“He changed it.”

“Oh…. OH! The lawsuit thing!”

“Hyung.” ChangMin said flatly.

“Sorry, asking too much.”

“Thanks hyung, bye.”

When Yunho got home, ChangMin was on the other side of the door and the Leader jumped in shock. “CHANGMIN! YOU SCARED THE OUT OF ME!” He cried.

The maknae just rubbed his temples and pushed a piece of paper into his hands then stared at him for a few seconds. Yunho, questioningly opened the crumpled piece of paper to find numbers, more like a hand phone number written on it.

“ChangMin?” He asked then he looked up at the younger who cleared his throat and played with his thumbs.

“It’s JaeJoong hyungs.” He said and heard Yunho’s breath hitch.

“I-“ Yunho began but turned to look back at the piece of paper in his hand, seemingly having JaeJoong’s number then he shook his head and walked past ChangMin not bothering to meet his eyes.

“YOU COULD SAY THANK YOU, YOU KNOW HYUNG!” ChangMin called after Yunho. “HELLO?!”

As Yunho sat in the confines of his room, he un-crumpled the piece of paper in his hands and stared at the number for a while.

Maybe, I should call.He thought. Maybe I shouldn’t, I don’t know. What if it wasn’t him on the other line? What it I called the wrong number? What if…… It was his number but he didn’t want to talk to me. He debated with himself for a while, finally deciding not to call but as he got out of bed, leaving the piece of paper on his bed, he lingered at the doorstep and looked back.

Should I?

I miss him. Then he turned to the door and turned the knob.

THIS, WHO AM I KIDDING.

Yunho all but ran over and grabbed his phone and the piece of paper and keyed in the exact numbers written on them then he stuff the phone to his ear, praying the person who picked up would be JaeJoong.

First ring, second ring, Yunho got impatient.

“Come on, pick up pick up!” Yunho chanted to himself.

Fourth ring and Yunho was a mess.

Pick up JaeJoong!

“Hello?” a husky voice answered the phone.

Yunho gasped softly to recognize that voice. That voice of his other half. He sounded even lovelier after three months and Yunho found himself crying yet again.

“Hello?” The voice on the other side of the line asked again.

“Jae-“Yunho began and there was a pause so Yunho tried again. “JaeJoong?”

“Yun-“ He finally heard before the line was cut off.

----

JaeJoong stood frozen to the spot as the voice he recognized hit him.

“Hyung?” Junsu noticed and waved a hand infront of him. “Is something wrong?”

JaeJoong just stared blankly for a while before turning to Junsu and mouthing. “Junsu, I think I just heard Yunho’s voice.”

“YOU WHAT?!” YooChun called from behind and ran over to JaeJoong who was still clasping his phone.

“I think I heard Yunho’s voice.” JaeJoong repeated blankly.

YooSu looked at each other and looked back at JaeJoong who was still in a daze and shook him. “Hyung, you must be dreaming.”

The elder shook his head furiously and turned. “NO, I swear I heard his voice.” Then his phone rang again and JaeJoong jumped almost dropping it onto the floor before fumbling, pushing the answer button.

“He-hello?” He croaked.

“JaeJoong….It’s me. Yunho.”

For a moment, JaeJoong sat there motionless his face going blank again, then he realized that it was indeed Yunho he was talking to.

“Yun-“He began.

“You’re not going to hang up are you?”

“….N-no, no!” JaeJoong meeped over the phone and he heard Yunho chuckle. The chuckle he longed to hear.

“Hyung! Is that Yunho hyung?!” YooChun spat from beside JaeJoong and the elder flapped his hand at YooChun to keep him quiet.

“Is that YooChun?” The voice over the phone asked.

“Ye-yes it’s him alright.” JaeJoong said as he pressed the phone closer to him. “Yunho, I miss you ….”

There was a silent pause.

“I missed you too JaeJoong ah~”

For the first time, YooChun saw a smile on JaeJoong’s face he hadn’t seen in years. It seemed legitimate. YooChun smiled along with him.

“Yunho ah~ I’m sorry I-“

“Shh… It’s ok. Listen. I know how to get us back together on one stage again.” Yunho began and JaeJoong heard smug in his voice. “Here’s the plan…”

JaeJoong put down the phone, a smile over his face and YooSu couldn’t help but scoot over to pry information out of their hyung.

Then JaeJoong finally turned to them an smile softly.

“Boys~ We’re going home.”

---

“Oh no Hyung, if you’re planning something stupid, count me out. I have my own plans. Eh?” ChangMin said with a smirk on his face.

Yunho grimaced at ChangMin expression but whispered into his ear and ChangMin’s jaw dropped to the floor.

“Hyung….” He began, his face looking all serious and Yunho prepared to hear the younger criticize his plan. “THAT’S THE BEST PLAN YOU HAVE EVER CAME UP WITH!”

At first Yunho couldn’t believe his ears and pursed his lips. “If that’s sarcasm ChangMin, I swear-“ and the younger cut him off.

“I’M SERIOUS!” ChangMin cried pumping his fist into the air. “THIS WILL WORK! But first…” He punched Yunho in the arm.

“OW! What was that for?!” Yunho whined.

“That’s for not saying ‘Thank you’ to me you idiot.”

“YAH!! Fine... Thank you.”

“Don’t seem legit.”

“Don’t push it.”

-----

-Phone call flash back-

“Here’s the plan.”

“Huh?”

“Listen JaeJoong, these three years weren’t as easy as you think it was without you three.”

“So?” JaeJoong asked.

“The thing is, we’ve been preparing this during the lawsuit had period, ChangMin and me.”

“What?”

“Listen, one of the representatives of our fanclub, Cassiopeia, has managed to persuade fans all over the world to donate us a sum of money.”

“Yunho.” JaeJoong began. “Are you…”

“I’m serious. Guess what, we’ve got ourselves an individual company.”

“Huh?!”

JaeJoong heard Yunho giggle over the phone, ChangMin in the background.

“Yunho if this is your idea of a joke I swear I’ll-“

“Do I sound like I’m joking JaeJoong ah?”

“No.” JaeJoong couldn’t help but agree.

“We’re preparing to terminate our contract at the end of this month.” Yunho told him as he shrugged over the phone.

“Yunho.”

“JaeJoong I mean it. I miss you too much to have you miles away from me. I need you and I need you now.” The elder heard ChangMin make gagging noises in the background and giggled through the phone.

“Someone’s feeling disgusted at your cheesiness Yunho yah.”

“YAH! CHANGMIN!”

“Yunho you were saying?” JaeJoong prompted.

“Oh yes, we get Cassiopeia to ‘kidnap’ you.”

There was a pregnant pause over the phone.

“YOU MAD BRO?!”

“I’m not mad! That’s the plan!”

“Ugh, you’d better do some explanation when we get back.”

Yunho chuckled over the phone. “I will Jae~ See you home~”

JaeJoong sighed over the phone and that sigh said so much more than they had ever talked. “See you soon Yunho~”

-End of Phone call flash back-

Three months later, Yunho and ChangMin had already cancelled their contract with SME and moved on with JaeJoong, Junsu and YooChun. Their career never seemed brighter. They had each other, they had Cassiopeia, Yunho even proposed to JaeJoong while on stage making the YunJae shippers go wild with joy and happiness. Nothing seemed better. They sang their hearts out as usual and their determination made them well-known all over the world. They held concerts together and travelled the world, the possibilities were endless.

Their very own company was set up, with Yunho’s father as the CEO of the entertainment. If you ever wondered what the name of the entertainment was called?

It was ‘W’entertainment.
