Meeting the Dreamies
Build Me Up Buttercup (just to let me down)
Mark was glad that he had been able to unpack the majority of his clothing and belongings before he had to attend the building meeting that was going to be held in the early evening. His clothes were tucked away in the wardrobe, bed made, and acoustic guitar propped against the beige wall, just below a Frank Ocean poster he had taped up.
Jaemin had told him that this meeting was in Taeyong's apartment and was essentially to get to know one another and go over the building rules. Mark could not help but smile, as he shot the other boy a quick thanks.
Although Mark did not know much about Jaemin, from the brief conversations they have had so far, he had concluded that he seemed like a good guy. He was a quiet dude for the most part, but around Jeno he seemed to perk up immediately. The two teens had apparently gotten close pretty fast, bonding over their general dislike for the volume at which Haechan and Renjun went about their daily activities.
Taeyong's apartment was across the hall from Mark's. The slightly smaller unit was composed of a square living room surrounded by three bedrooms and a bathroom. His roommates Yangyang and Shotaro were foreign exchange students, placed in Taeyong's apartment for extra guidance.
Mark had quickly concluded that the meeting was basically just a formality, as Taeyong sat in front of a projected screen on his living room wall, discussing the rules of the residence building.
The laundry room is down the hall, create a cleaning schedule with your roommates, only one guest per person at a time, let the Don know about overnight guests, no alcohol allowed in the hallways, and quiet hours begin at 10:00 pm.
Mark could see Jaemin and Jeno cast a pointed look at Haechan and Renjun from the corner of his eye. Another boy, who he vaguely remembered was named Brock, thumped some dude named Liam on the back. And the girls across from him, Maria and Krystal, giggled and snickered into their palms.
The girls' outburst ultimately prompted Taeyong to send a fixed look their way and they quickly glanced down, cheeks red.
The rest of the meeting was pretty anticlimactic, as Taeyong continued to drone on about a few more rules and policies, most of them regarding academics and where the wellness office was.
Mark had zoned out at this point until Taeyong dropped a name that drew his attention away from a hole in the toe of his sock to the older man again. His head perked up, eyes trained on the blonde Don.
"Jaehyun and Yuta will be coming around tomorrow morning to wake and collect you all for the day's events. Other than that, you're free to go. Have a good night," Taeyong smiled evenly, making sure to hold eye contact with each person in the room. His eyes seemed to rest a moment longer on Mark, before he nodded and stood up to signify the end of the meeting.
