The man stood a few feet from her, but, as if her vision was enhanced she could see down the barrel of the gun pointing at her. She wanted to move, to run, but her body was frozen. As if the time had slowed, she saw, the shooter moving his finger slowly, pulling back the trigger. She closed her eyes, clenched her fist and braced herself for the worst. The sound of gunshot rang in her ears, but the impact and the pain never came.

She opened her eyes and saw that a tall, slender figure stood between her and the shooter. He staggered backward toward her. Instinctively she stepped forward to catch his falling body. However, he was too heavy for her and they both fell to the ground. The bullet had hit him right in the chest. His white shirt had turned dark red, as the blood poured out of his wound. Her hands were shaking, but she pressed down on the wound, trying hard to stop it from bleeding.

Tears fell down her cheeks. The man in her lap looked up at her with his doe eyes, It was the first time she noticed his face, his doe like eyes, his cheekbones, his nose, and his full lips. He smiled weakly at her. He lifted his bloody hand toward her cheek and caressed it gently, leaving a trail of blood on her face. He opened his mouth to say something to her, but before he could his hand fell to his side. His beautiful eyes closed, as his last breath was taken from him.
