“Kiara! We’re over here!” My friend shouted from across the room. The time was 3:15 PM, and I was staying after to rehearse for the musical.

“I’m coming!” I called back, and I jogged towards my group of friends.

They were engaged in a sing-off, and Chelsie was currently singing a chorus song- ridiculing it.

“SIIINNNGG PRAISES!!!!!!” She screeched as a finale, and bowed.  We clapped and chanted, “Chelsie, Chelsie!”

I turned my head when I saw the door creak open loudly. In came in the new guy, with a script in hand and his jacket coolly tied around his waist, his backpack slung over his shoulder. Chelsie got down from the table she was standing on and nudged me, “There’s your future husband, Kiara.”

I blushed and shoved her, “Says who? He’s incredibly hot, so he probably has a girlfriend.”

Chelsie opened to retort back, but Mr. DofGa cleared his throat to get our attention.

“Okay, people! We’re two weeks into learning this play, so I don’t expect you all to have learned all of your lines yet. However you should have read over the entire thing so you have a good idea of everything. Is that correct?”

“Yes!” We chorused together. Mr. DofGa was probably the coolest teacher in the school, if not the county. Us music lovers respected him a lot because he knew everything there was to music. He played the cello, clarinet, and on top of that he sang too!

“Okay, and without further ado, I’d like to introduce our new member of the Romeo and Juliet production, Jeremy Kim!”

Everyone clapped and hooted their welcome as Jeremy got up and waved hello. He looked so cool when he did, and I couldn’t help but blush when he looked at me in the eye.

When everyone had settled down, Mr. DofGa continued, “I’d like to remind everyone that auditions will be held today! I’ll give you guys an hour to select a partner and practice.” He paused and counted the number of people in the room. “I guess there are enough boys and girls for you all to be in a boy-girl partnership. I’d like you guys to do that and rehearse Act 2, Scene 2!”

I nervously looked around the room for a partner. Chelsie nudged me good-bye as she went off to work with her boyfriend, Charles. I was just about to give up and settle with Alex when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

I turned around and almost fainted when I saw Jeremy’s soft brown eyes gazing at me.

“Will you be my partner?” He asked.

I thought to myself, “I will Jeremy! I will be your partner, your lover, your girl-“

I snapped out of it, smiled, and nodded my head. “Sure. My name’s Kiara, if you didn’t know.”

“Cool,” he flipped his hair out of his eyes, “Let’s get going shall we, m’lady?”

I turned red when he took my hand and led me towards the door. “Do you want to practice here?”

“Okay,” I said. “Let’s get to work.”
