[CONTENTID3]A few months ago, Seo Soojin came to CUBE with the intention of debuting as quickly as possible after her previous label so graciously mishandled her debut. Soojin refers to situations like these as -ups. Her previous company didn't enough funds to support their trainees which resulted in multiple of their scheduled debuts being delayed and one of their most talented trainees to call it quits. Seo Soojin wasn't willing to wait for them to get their together. Their loss.

Soojin values brutal honesty. Honestly, she knew her cheeks are too round and her eyes often appeared too puffy and the mole underneath her left eye irks her to no end. Although her appearance is lackluster, she has the skills of an idol. She knew she could sing well and dance more than well and that would have to more than enough to compensate for her less-than-perfect face. Honestly. Unsurprisingly, her instincts were correct.

"I'm very excited to tell you that you will be debuting in CUBE's next girl group."

Those were the exact words that CUBE Entertainment's CEO said to her just nine months into her trainee career. Soojin was relieved because she would hate to be wrong.

The news that the CEO delivered lifted a gigantic weight off of the girl's shoulders. She no longer had to be wary of others trying to outshine her performances. She had proven herself capable of becoming an idol in this cutthroat environment infested with trainees. Trainees who were attention-starved, broke kids, with big dreams. Naturally, their ambition also made them desperation. She knew because was in their shoes. Twice. Twice, she was a trainee. And she would be lying if she never tried to befriend a dance or a vocal coach hoping they would give their regards of her capabilities to the higher-ups.

However, Soojin has seen some girls take it much farther than that.

Stealing other girls' heels so they wouldn't be able to showcase their ability to dance in those foot-killing devices during evaluations. "You must've misplaced them. I'll help you look for them later," they promised, batting their eyelashes—a weak attempt to feign innocence.

Forming cliques to bully the trainee that showed the most promise. "Look at her. All alone. Doesn't she know how to make friends? Does she think she's too good for us? Pathetic," they snickered, ignoring the fact that they were the sole reason for such loneliness.

Bumping into other girls intentionally to hopefully injure their competitors. "Sorry," they would say to your face, with their fingers crossed behind their backs. Don't believe a word they say. It's every person for themselves.

Whatever tactic it is, chances are Soojin has witnessed it before and experienced more than enough pain for five lifetimes. The quiet girl wouldn't be able to stomach it if she ever committed such petty sabotage, so she stayed out of everyone's way—a self-tested method Soojin has patented to avoid as many unfortunate run-ins with other ill-intentioned trainees as possible—and built walls around herself. Sure, it made her lonelier but it also made her stronger. She refused to take part in or become a victim of this toxic behavior. Inadvertently and ironically, it caused her talent to stand out even more during her trainee evaluations at her new company. Everyone's heads turned when the shy, reserved trainee from the back of the room transformed into a whole different person during her performances. Who was she? How did I miss her? Her movements were fluid, silky smooth. Her sultry gaze captivated those who evaluated her performances. She was the type of person they want to see on stage.

So here she was, scheduled to debut in CUBE's new upcoming girl group, in the words of the CEO himself, "Whenever we find the other members." Whatever the hell that means. At least she knew she was debuting. She'll take what she can get. CUBE was responsible for the creation of 4MINUTE, one of her favorite groups to this day. She'll have to put a bit of faith in and hope that her debut wouldn't take too long.

Ever since she switched to a different label, Soojin hasn't made any other friends besides her two roommates—Soyeon and Minnie. Soyeon and Minnie were two girls that were scheduled to debut with Soojin. Hence, the company decided that they would dorm together for the time being. Seeing as they have debuted yet, Soojin—being the genius she is—concluded that there were going to be more than three members in this group. If you couldn't already tell, CUBE is keeping everything about this group a secret including the number of members they plan to have in it, and Soojin was not too happy with this fact.

Soyeon was the same age as Soojin but had ten-fold the amount of the experience. Soyeon has the participation and domination of multiple survival shows under her belt and it showed. Soojin saw the way Soyeon moved during practice. The shorter girl was a force to be reckoned with and she made sure everyone around her knew it with the way she carried herself—with grace and assertiveness. In the dance room, she commanded the attenti
