Day 8
30 days of blissAugust 9, 2014
It's not even been a day since SinB and I had been dating, but I couldn't stop thinking about her no matter what I did. She had a schedule today; she apparently had a big opportunity coming up, so I didn't want to bother her while she worked. Now I know how she felt when my schedules were packed, it was impossible to manage. Every ten minutes, my position would change; I couldn't sit still. My phone was my best friend during this, I stared at my bookshelf, but none of my books sounded interesting to me. I loved reading, but with SinB on my mind, it was hard to focus on anything else. I got a text from Umji telling me to pretend the characters were SinB and me, and I just rolled my eyes and giggled. I'll save that for later. Since Umji texted me, I decided I might as well call her to see how she was doing.
"Why are you calling me."
"Because we were talking."
"Couldn't you have called Sowon? or Eunha?"
"Why, are you busy?" Umji seemed out of breath, and sounds were coming from the other line–I could've sworn it was Yuju.
"Yeah, kinda." The sounds were loud, it was hard to hear Umji. Then it hit me.
"Okay, thanks. Bye!" I hung up the phone so fast and stared at nothing for the longest time. I was now skeptical about calling Sowon, but I needed to talk to someone, so I decided to text her first.
YR: Are you alive?
SW: ??? Yes?
YR: You're not like, doing anything?
SW: No? Do you need something?
YR: SinB-ah and I are dating.
SW: you're what!? I'm your best friend, and you didn't tell me??
YR: Well, a lot happened last night.
SW: Oh, I see~
Memories of the recent call resurfaced, making me cringe.
Yerin: Not like that! We sat up on that hill SinB-ah likes, we just talked and lost track of time.
SW: That's sweet. But don't lose too much track of time.
YR: I know. I love her, eonnie.
SW: Tell her that. Not me.
YR: I want to spend my life with her.
SW: I know. So was that it?
YR: No, SinB has a schedule, and I can't think straight. I need a distraction.
SW: Yerin-ah, I love you, but you're letting your love for her control your life. That's not healthy.
YR: But you know why I...
SW: Don't rush things, you moron. It's been seven days and you're already dating? Take your time Yerin-ah.
YR: Maybe you're right.
SW: I always am.
The bright light from my phone disappeared when I closed it. Maybe Sowon was right, and I shouldn't be so hyper-focused on SinB. After chatting with Sowon, I picked up a book and started reading. I didn't pick any one in particular, but what I pulled wasn't a bad read–it wasn't the best one either. It starred a girl who became lovestruck by a man, they became very interested in each other very quickly. But any good story needed a little bit of drama, so I was sure it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. But it proved me wrong: hence why it wasn't the best book. There wasn't a plot beyond the two characters falling in love, and only minor obstacles went in their way of getting to each other. A lot of these romance stories ended the same. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, they can't express their love due to unforeseen circumstances and ends with the boy getting the girl. Those stories weren't bad, they followed closely to the hero's journey, something I was very fond of. But I was more fond of stories that didn't follow the typical hero's journey. Twists and turns make every story different, and every story unique. It's up to the author to decide how they write their story. My gaze met with a different book, 'Love reconciled.' Like this one, it wasn't a love story. I closed the book and put it back on the shelf since it
