Chapter 18

The Mafia's Doctor

Dara

"What are we doing here again?" I asked, staring at the same club we went to last night.

"It wasn't a successful night," Chaerin said, gently pushing me from behind towards the building.

"What do you mean "wasn't a successful night"?" I asked. "It was fun."

"Hehe...you admitted you liked it." Chaerin smiled.

"Not enough to do it again. I had a major headache this morning and I'm still tired of it."

"Well, it up, buttercup," Taeyang said, swinging his arm over my shoulders as he put himself between  Chaerin and me. His sudden weight almost made me lose balance in my heels.

"It's not a success unless I get some. If you really don't want to go back to that club, you and I can go back into the car and we can have ourselves a good ."

I was going to take Taeyang's arm off of my shoulders but Jiyong, who appeared beside me on my right, did it for me.
He quickly replaced Tae's arm with his, pulling me close. His face remained his neutral emotionless facial expressionbut I knew he didn't like Taeyang's suggestion.

"Look at his face," Taeyang said, pointing at Jiyong. "He looks like he needs to get laid too."

Jiyong turned to face him, glaring.

"You want to join?" Taeyang asked, giving Jiyong his signature joking erted face. Jiyong lifted his arm off of me and reached over to hit Taeyang in the back of the head.

"Ow, getting frisky already?"

Jiyong and I ignored Taeyang until we reached the club. We walked through the entrance, passing the same bouncer from the night before and cutting the line. Inside, there weren't as many people from the night before. Possibly due to the fact
that it was Sunday and people had work in the morning.

We passed the bar and walked through the dance floor to the same VIP section. Top and Taeyang sat down on one side of the booth while I sat in the middle, between Jiyong and Chaerin, on the other. Shot glasses filled with liquor automatically appeared at the table and everyone grabbed one and raised it up.

I looked at Chaerin who was already looking at me. I knew if I didn't drink, Chaerin would find a way to get alcohol in my system. I grabbed a glass, raised it to clink against the others, and drank it.

"Did I just take a shot of Bourbon?" I asked, trying to salivate in order to get rid of the burn. Chaerin grabbed another one, leading the rest to do so. "Again?"

"Yup," She said, nodding her head to the drinks to tell me to grab another one.

Reluctantly, I grabbed one and lifted it to my mouth. Halfway to my lips, Jiyong grabbed the glass out of my hand and downed it himself. That made it his third shot of Bourbon in less than a minute.

"Thanks," I told Jiyong after he finished my drink.

"No problem," he said after clearing his throat, which probably burned. I watched him look past me and his eyebrows lift up, which meant he saw something interesting. I turned my head to see what he was looking at and found my own set of brows going up.

"Sanghyun, what are you doing here?" I asked, shocked. My brother had finished making his way through the crowd to
get to the table. Arriving in front of us, I looked him up and down to make sure I was seeing right. Unfortunately, it was mybrother.

Looking like a Hollister model, Sanghyun was wearing their v neck white tee shirt that had their famous seagull logo on the left peck with tan pants and white vans. With his casual outfit, Sanghyun definitely went overboard cologne that smelled as expensive as the watch on his right wrist.

"Chaerin invited me here for your promotion party." My brother answered, taking a seat next to Chaerin. "Congrats, sis."

"Promotion?" I asked Chaerin. I knew that she knows that I know that there's no promotion party and it was all just to lure my brother to hang out with her.

"Surprise!" She smiled, guilty and not sorry.

I shook my head. Chaerin is a sneaky one. I looked at Jiyong and he just shrugged. Top reached for the last filled shot glass but I snatched it away from him.

"Hey! That was mine." He whined as I downed the drink.

"Bartender, I'm going to need more shots!" I yelled out.

Jiyong

"Whoa, that's a big plane, dude," Sanghyunsaid, slurring his words, "I hope that the pilot isn't as drunk as I am."

Leaning on me and holding my arm for support, Dara giggled, finding what her brother said to be funny. She, too, was
intoxicated. Out of everyone that went to the club with us, Dara managed to drink the most. She even beat the number of drinks
Chaerin drank due to the fact her brother was there.

Speaking of Chaerin, she was leaning on the other side of me and holding my other arm. She didn't want to stay in the car with Taeyang and Top and wanted to tag along as I tried to send
Sanghyun off. Dara came because she didn't want to let go of my hand. Under different circumstances, I would have found that to be cute, but as of now, I needed to get Sanghyun onto that plane.

"No problem man, a family of Dara is a family of mine," I said.

"Literally, cause Dara and Jiyong are going to get married," Chaerin said. She let go of me to clap her hands. Her sudden
movement caused her to lose balance and Chaerin quickly grabbed a hold of me again.

"We are? Aw, we are!" Dara said, smiling big. Again, would have found this cute but the time didn't allow me to. "Congrats!" Sanghyun congratulated, bring us into a big group hug.

I was too sober for this. I sighed and decided to get through this silently. It was only minutes away from Sanghyun stepping onto that plane and going back to California.

"You should get on the plane man," I said, urging him to go as soon as we broke apart.

"Right." He said, he turned and walked to the base of the stairs that led into the plane.

Before he stepped foot on the first step, Chaerin broke away from me and yelled, "You're seriously going to leave without
kissing me?"

Chaerin angrily hobbled her way over to Sanghyun, grabbed his face with her two hands, and shoved her face into his. I looked down at Dara and saw her tearing up, "Aw, my best friend and my brother."

I waited for their moment to be over, unaware that we had crossed the line between reality and a melodramatic movie. Five minutes passed and they didn't break apart from each other. Their drunkenness made the whole make out session messy and uncoordinated. I grew uncomfortable as the view became sloppy and covered Dara's eyes with the palm of my hand from the unpleasantness.

"Chaerin called out to her for her to stop already. I threatened, "Do you want to walk home?"

She pulled apart from Sanghyun, wiped her lips, and said, "Call me when you land."

Dara

The pounding in my head made it harder for me to continue sleeping. My eyes fluttered opened, my blurred vision cleared, and I saw the bare tatted back of Jiyong in my bed. I jolted up and scanned to see where I was at, my apartment.

"Jiyong, get up! What if Sanghyun sees yo-" I stopped midway of my sentence as I remembered what went down last night.

"-Oh my gosh!"

"What?" Jiyong asked, looking over his shoulder to look at me.

I jumped out of bed and ran to the guest room Sanghyun was sleeping in. His stuff was all here. We had sent him back to
California without his passport, his wallet, or his suitcases filled with clothes.

"Don't worry. I had a guy pick your brother up when he landed." Jiyong said, coming from behind me.

"You planned this, didn't you?" I squinted in suspicion.

"I discussed my plan on your tenth shot and you were on board."

"I was drunk." I defended myself.

"You didn't say no." Jiyong rebutted.

The bathroom door next to us swung open and Top stepped out, "Sorry Dara, I had to throw up in the bathtub because Taeyang was hogging the toilet and Chaerin had the sink."

He moved aside to show Chaerin and Taeyang passed out on the floor. The stink that came from inside triggered my gag reflexes and the unsettled liquor in my stomach. I quickly closed the door of the bathroom and ran for the kitchen sink. Jiyong followed behind me and held my hair as bile came up my throat.

"I can't believe you sent off my brother like that," I said, getting my word in while I wasn't hurling. "I need to call him and see if he's okay, hand me my phone."

"Maybe you should finish throwing up."

--

"Your call has gone to voi-" I ended the call and redialed his number for the seventh time.

At the seventh ring, Sanghyun finally picked up.

"Mhh.. hello?"

"Hey, Sanghyun. How are you?" I asked.

"Well... My head hurts.. like really bad."

"Are you home?"

"Oh ! How did I get here?"

I sighed and explained to Sanghyun what had happened last night. Still not processing it, I told him to take some Advil and get more rest before ending the call. I also noticed that Jiyong, too, got off the phone with someone.

"Who was that?" I asked.

"I just called for someone to clean the mess in your bathroom and kitchen," Jiyong answered. "How's your brother?"

"He's at his house with a major headache and jet lag. Sanghyun wants us to send his stuff over as soon as possible."

"I'll get that done for you." He said, going back onto his phone.

"Thanks. Now you have to help me get Chaerin, Taeyang, and Top to the car."

Dara

I laid my head down at my desk, suffering from the hangover. I wanted to take another Advil for my headache but I knew I already took enough to accidentally overdose on. The pounding in my head was absolutely killer.

"How are you feeling over there?" I asked, checking on Chaerin who was sitting on the nearest hospital to me.

"Better. I didn't even know these things exist." Chaerin was talking about the iv bag that Chaerin treating her hangover. "You
don't look so good, maybe you should hook yourself up to one of these too."

I opened my mouth to explain to Chaerin that she was already using the last bag when the door to my office opened. The
force, that pushed the door so hard, had sent it into the adjacent wall.

People rushed in. Somewhere carried by others while other where carrying people. I bolted up from my desk, sending the
wheeled chair back. The sudden motion made me dizzy and I grabbed hold of the desk in front of me.

"Whoa whoa whoa," Chaerin said shocked.

"What happened? June? Suhyun? Chanwoo? Omg, are you okay?"

They were laid down on separate beds and I rushed to their side. All were bleeding out. The white sheets underneath them were fast to soak up the red blood. Blood packets were the only
thing unavailable to me. Stopping the bleeding was crucial.

"Guys, grab a towel in the cabinet and apply pressure to Suhyun and Chanwoo's wounds. I have to work on June first. He's bleeding the most out of the three." I said, telling the people who stayed in the room after carrying the injured.

"It hurts like a ," June muttered, clutching the tricep as that injured arm held his side.

"June, language!" His mother said.

"Sorry, ma, it hurts!"The sixteen-year-old reasoned.

"No. You could have said "It's hurting, a lot" instead." For a mother experiencing her son bleeding out on a hospital, she was quite composed.

"Can we not do this right now, mamma? I'm dying here."

"June," I called for his attention from his mother. "What happened?"

"I don't know. It was a quick ambush."

"No, I meant "what happened to your arm and side?""

"I don't know. Uh, everything happened so fast. I think I got shot through the arm and then stabbed at the side. I can't remember, I just know I felt pain and then a lot of blood." June grew sicker
as he spoke. "I think I'm gonna pass out, someone slap me."

"Dio mio!" His mother said, using the Lord's name in vain as she slapped her son's forehead.

"Ow! Mamma!"

"June, stay with me. I'm going to work on your side first and then your arm."

"I can't feel my side. Please work on my arm first, it's killing me."

"Your side has more important organs than your arm. I'm going to have to tend your side first. I'll be quick I promise."

I instructed his mother to squeeze June's arm to minimize anymore bleeding. In which he complained that her grip was
too hard. Fortunately, his stab wound was done in a swiping motion rather a jabbing motion. Developing the body of most menin this mafia, he was still rather lean and barely gained a six-pack.

The knife had cut some serious tissues. As promised, I
worked on his side as quickly as possible.I went to work on his arm and finished him in no time. Whoever injured Suhyun did her dirty. Her tanned face was all scratched up, including her left eye that was bleeding.

I mistook that her cut on her lip was excessively bleeding; however, it was due to her broken ribs that caused her to
cough up blood. Apparently, Suhyun was kicked at her lower left ribcage. As for Chanwoo, it was clear that he got hit on the head with something hard. His temple was bleeding as a bump started to form.

"Was it a rock?" I guessed as I cleaned out his wound.

"Brick." He answered after hissing from the sting of the rubbing alcohol.

I winced at the thought of the pain he must have felt after getting struck by a brick. After I finished cleaning his wound, I wrapped Chanwoo's head securely. I was applying a small piece of tape to hold the bandage when the door to my office
opened hardly, once again. The sound of the doors impact on the adjacent wallcaused me to flinch, in which made me
pressed the tape onto Chanwoo's head rather roughly.

"Ow!" He groaned.

"I'm sorry." I apologized. I looked over my shoulder and saw that Jiyong had just entered the room.

"What happened?" He asked, alert and angry.

Bobby explained, "We were out on lookouts when we spotted a suspicious guy. June, Suhyun, Chanwoo, Jay, and I followed the dude."

"Then we lost him and divided into two groups of two and three. According to them, he led them right into a planned surprise attack." Jay said, finishing Bobby's answer to Jiyong's question.

Jiyong

I walked over to Dara. She had already finished working on June, Suhyun, and Chanwoo and was throwing away used cotton balls, towels, and wrappers away.

"How are they?" I asked her.

"They should be better after a lot of rest. However, we do need an X-ray on Suhyun for her ribs and June might need physical therapy for his arm." Dara informed me, worried.

"I need to make a few phone calls," I said, excusing myself.

"Okay." She nodded, understanding.

I walked out of Dara's office, scanning the contact list of my phone. Bobby, nor Jay, didn't tell me who attacked them, but I
already knew who did it. Right as I found his contact name, I received a call from him.

"Kyesang." I answered.

"Jiyong, Kwon Jiyong." Kyesang replied.

"A foe that yet can turn into my friend once I get what I want to call it even."

"Even?" I asked. "How is that possible if you just attacked three of our people when we never killed yours in the beginning."

"Lies! Don't aggravate me. You've already seen what I've done to your members. I've had my fun but it isn't over."

"What is it that you want from us? Money? Someone to point the finger at since you can't investigate enough to find out the real killers? You have good fighting men but they are, sure as hell, fighting men but they are, sure as hell, dumb."

"I want your best men. You've killed mine and I'll do the same, torturously. If I don't get them by this Friday, I will come for
everyone in YG. Send them to me and we can have peace." Kyesang spewed before hanging up.

His voice that I heard moments ago rang in my head, sending chills down my back. There was no way to convince Kyesang that it wasn't us, he had his grieving heart set on it. He sounded desperate and it was desperation that can cloud one's judgment, one's sanity, and one's will.
