They stood there, at the crowd, hands readying if needed to summon their gifts. The man in front of them was a local bodyguard who served the Central City Office. He remembered the man quite well. He was always polite to him, even though he never really bothered to talk to him. A year ago, he quit his job upon the death of his only daughter and was never found. Until today.

He looked different from before, not like the kind man who never forgot to smile at him. It was as if he was hollow and the only thing that kept him from falling on his knees was the power he held in his hands, a detonator. One click was all it took for him to blow up the statue of White Fox and the 10 people he held hostage.

“Kill me if you have to kill me” He said loud enough for everyone to hear him. “All I ask is one thing and one thing only”

He paused and looked at the 10 people he bound to the statue. He then pointed at the head of the golden sculpture, the tight smile on White Fox’s face shined under the moonlight.

“A year ago, there was a fight that broke out within these grounds. News reporters flocked everywhere, saying that it was the fight of the century between the famous White Fox and Inferno. What a fight it had been to have shaken the earth and sky. To have injured 10 innocent people and killed my only daughter” He breathed so hard it must’ve hurt his lungs as he did “Strip him of his title and demand JUSTICE on his crimes! Those are my terms!”

The man was screaming so hard, he could’ve been heard by the whole world. Bystanders were watching him, silent as his words rang out. What foolishness he had, accusing the great White Fox of murder when he was only protecting the people.

And yet, he was right. He remembered the reports; saw how the media hid that one little detail. Out of the 10 people injured, one little girl lost her life in the crossfire. He was there after all, watching White Fox from a distance.

It was then, a shot was heard and bullet whizzed through the air as fast as lightning. The man screamed as it pierced his flesh, arm bleeding as the remote bounced off his hands. Twenty men on standby mauled him as if he was a threat to the universe, a man so thin that only his bones kept him upright.

“YOU AND YOUR HEROES!” He screamed despite being tackled by men twice his size “HEROES WHO LIVE ON FAME AND MONEY AND LEECH OFF OF SOCIETY! WHAT ABOUT US NORMAL ONES?! WHAT ABOUT US POWERLESS?! WHERE IS YOUR SO-CALLED JUSTICE?!”

The crowd screamed, only to throw insults at the old man. They were a mass of chaos, wild and unforgiving.

It wasn’t right. What he did wasn’t right.

But he wasn’t wrong either.

He threatened the lives of 10 innocent people!

He lost his child!

He accused the great hero, White Fox and desecrated his statue!

He lost his child!

He was threatening the lives of innocent people!

He was a good man! A good father! And his child was killed!

“What do you see?” Like a shadow, she whispered so eerily. She was beside him, quiet like she always had been but something dangerous lingered in the air around her.

“You first” He said, trying his best to contain the frost in his veins. He deserves to be heard, deserves justice.

“I see a man” She paused, turning away. “I see a father mourning for his child”

He couldn’t help but turn away too, his heart tight in his chest. They didn't need them here.

“I see that too”
