Practice: Day 1

All of the Stars

Waking up at 5 AM wasn't ideally what Whee-in wanted to do. Especially when hidden cameras are on, and they're spying on her, waiting for her to wake up. Whee-in wasn't self-conscious about how she looked when she first woke up. But she felt it was creepy that she was being recorded, why did people want to see her waking up from sleep? Whee-in threw the covers off her own body, the lights flickered on in the room. She squinted from the sudden brightness, the back of her hand shielding her eyes.

"Rise and shiine." Sun-young sang out.

"Good morning, unnie." Whee-in greeted. She glanced around the room, noticing one of the pallets on the floor was empty. Where was Hee-yeon? She wondered to herself. Whee-in didn't say anything as she went onto make her pallet up. She glanced up at the hidden camera, the green light looking back at her. Whee-in tried to hide her disappointment by turning her face around to finish making up her pallet. She heard the sounds of Yong-sun and Yoona talking in the other room. The walls of their dorm being really thin.

Whee-in turned her head towards the bedroom door as Hee-yeon came walking in. Her eyes widened at the fact, that Hee-yeon, had a full face of makeup on already. She had to have woken up early than 5 to put all the makeup on and be fully dressed.

"Good morning." Sun-young greeted Hee-yeon.

"Good morning, unnie." Whee-in said, trying not to gawk at her.

"Good morning.~ Are you guys ready for today?" Hee-yeon replied casually.

"Ah, yes. We need to call our ride if we want to make it to the studio on time."  Sun-young said.

Whee-in got off the floor and moved to her case, which had her clothes. She had no clue on what to wear. She wanted to wear something comfortable- such as sweats or sporty shorts- but Hee-yeon made the younger feel a bit self-conscious. She couldn't just dress in something ratty, especially if cameras were going to follow them all day. Whee-in pulled out a pair of jeans, Hye-jin bought  her, a couple of years ago. They were black and skinny but designer and very fashionable. Whee-in hugged the jeans to her chest as she thought of her best friend. The phone call from last night wasn't enough for Whee-in, she wanted to speak to her friend even more.

Whee-in pushed the thoughts out of her mind as she grabbed a graphic-tee to go with the jeans. She didn't have any designer shirts but she hoped, the jeans would suffice. Whee-in made a bee-line for the restroom but managed to collide into Yong-sun. Both girls yelped out in surprise, Whee-in immediately bowing and apologizing to her leader.

"Ah, I'm sorry." She said in a soft tone.

"It's okay. We can share the bathroom." Yong-sun said.

Whee-in followed her into the bathroom. Her heart racing as she watched how easily Yong-sun got undressed. Whee-in was always shy when it came to changing in front of others. All through her high-school career, Hye-jin had used her own body to guard Whee-in from the other girls' eyes. When Hye-jin wasn't there to guard Whee-in, she had simply waited until everyone else had left the locker room. Whee-in didn't had a problem with her own body, at least she didn't think she did. But she felt it was awkward to be able to strip and hold conversation. It sent Whee-in into a panic, especially because she wore granny , versus what the other girls wore. Although it wasn't a high school locker room, Whee-in felt uneasy about stripping out of her clothes in front of Yong-sun.

"Hurry up. I already called a taxi to pick us up and take us to the company."  Yong-sun said when she noticed Whee-in wasn't moving.

"A-ah, yes."

Whee-in quickly took off her pajamas. She tossed them down on the ground as she rushed to pull a shirt on. She then hurriedly tried to pull on her jeans, they were tight around her calves, she found herself hopping on one foot. Before Whee-in knew it, she found herself falling onto the bathroom floor, her jeans halfway up. Yong-sun's eyes widened as she watched her maknae hit the bathroom floor. Whee-in's face grew warm with embarrassment. She couldn't even look up at Yong-sun as she offered her hand to help her up.

"Are you okay?!" Yong-sun asked.

"Yah! What's going on in there? I need to get in... Please." Sun-young called from outside the bathroom.

Whee-in hurriedly wiggled around on the ground. She pulled the jeans up over her thighs and bottoms. She quickly hopped off the ground and swung the bathroom door open. She scurried past Sun-young and went back into their room. She grabbed her purse, phone, socks, and toothbrush case. She then slowly sat back on her own pallet as she heard the others go into the bathroom to brush their teeth and get ready. Whee-in wanted to text Hye-jin to share her embarrassing moment but she couldn't. Whee-in didn't have much time to think on her embarrassing moment, she heard Yong-sun calling for them. Whee-in followed Hee-yeon into the now crowded bathroom. There definitely wasn't room for all of them. Whee-in tried to move around, but she finds herself sandwiched, between the toilet and the sink.

"Is everyone ready? The taxi  will be here soon. Don't forget to use the cameras given to use to document your day." Yong-sun said.

"Got it! I'm ready." Hee-yeon said.

"I am too." Yoona said as well.

Whee-in hadn't even noticed that Yoona had a full face of makeup on as well. Hee-yeon and Yoona had both woken up before the cameras so they could be camera ready. Whee-in couldn't help but somewhat admire their dedication to look good. She just hoped that she didn't look like too much of a potato next to her unnies. Yoona and Hee-yeon both already towered over her. "I still have to brush my teeth." She said in a soft voice.

"Do that.~ We have to go soon. Lets go!" Yong-sun said in a cheery tone. She, Yoona, and Hee-yeon all left the bathroom. Whee-in was left with Sun-young who was changing out of her clothes. Whee-in simply moved in front of the sink and went onto brush her teeth and hair.  She then moved out of the way when Sun-young finished getting dressed and prepared to brush her teeth.

"I don't understand how those two can get up earlier than scheduled, just to put make-up on." Sun-young commented.

"Ah, I know." Whee-in simply said.

"Like... I understand, Yoona. She is our visual but to be honest... Between you and me, I think Yong-sun should've been the visual."

Whee-in didn't know what to say. She wasn't the type to engage in gossip. She only listened to whatever Hye-jin had to gossip about with her. Whee-in also feared that talking about her other members would cause tension. She simply nodded at Sun-young and left the bathroom. She rushed back to her room to grab the camera given to her. She then raced to their tiny living room and stood by the front door with the others.

"Sun-young!! Hurry!" Yong-sun called out.

Whee-in watched Yoona and Hee-young, who were using Yoona's camera, to record. They both seemed to be cozy as they talked to the camera. Whee-in tried to get out of their way but she was soon met with the camera.

"Our pretty maknae! How do you feel this morning?" Yoona asked. She had to bend down slightly, so that Whee-in showed up on screen. This was their first time realizing the height differences.

"I feel hungry but excited." Whee-in said, she did her best to throw on a confident smile.

"Ah. I'm hungry, too. I hope there is food at the company." Hee-yeon commented.

"There will be! I made sure of it." Yong-sun said as she peeked into the frame.

"Our leader and maknae.~ They're both so short." Yoona said in a teasing tone.

"Yah! I'm taller than Whee-in, at least!" Yong-sun said defensively

"Nooo!" Whee-in whined out. She blushed softly at how teasing from the unnies suddenly made her whine. Whee-in didn't typically whine in front of others.

"But it's true! You're our small Whee-in." Yoona continued to tease.

"You guys are just giants!" Whee-in said with her arms crossing.

"Giants that will feel our wrath!" Yong-sun said while playfully throwing up fists.

"I'm ready!" Sun-young called as she hurried towards the front door.

"There is our munchkin number three! With that... FLAVOR is ready to go! See you again soon.~" Yoona said.

The five of them left their dorm behind as they climbed into the taxi van and headed for the studio.

Once at the studio, the five of them were greeted by their manager, Jo Ki-bum. He immediately made sure everyone got to eat breakfast and then sent them off to the studio to hear their debut song. Whee-in felt ecstatic, this was it. She was going to hear their debut song. She had worked so hard for this day to come and she couldn't help but feel as if she was floating. She wasn't the only one feeling this. Her unnies were buzzing with excitement as well, their excitement spreading among them. They entered the studio all together and instantly bowed to the producer.

"Hello, I'm producer Sam Chi-Won. Have a seat and tell me what you think of the song." He said.

All of them instantly listened to the older male. They all sat down on the leather black sectional in the studio. Whee-in couldn't help but gaze around the room. Their were multiple awards in a case from his producing. Whee-in recalled that he produced a hit-songs for very popular and famous groups. It felt like a bit of an honor for Whee-in. For the company to invest such a good producer for their group. Whee-in felt Sun-young's hands grip onto hers as the producer pressed play for their debut song. They all listened as the song started. They all smiled ear to ear as they heard how the song sounded, it had a slow intro with the sound of the slow drum kick, claps, and synthesizers but the chorus turned into something with a catchy drum beat along with hand claps and synthesizers. Whee-in hadn't expected their debut song to sound so mature yet kind of playful.

"I love it." Yoona squealed out once the song ended.

"Great! Lets start with the lyrics and how we will be splitting it." The producer commented. The girls all glanced at each other with surprise, they were really doing this. They were really going to get into their debut song and record it. They all stood up as the door to the studio opened, they watched as the vocal engineer and directed entered. They were immediately handed their lyrics sheet.

"C'est La Vie." Yong-sun read out in a soft tone.

"That is your title track." One of the men commented.

Whee-in gazed down at the lyrics as she carefully read them under her breath.

C’est La C’est La Vie
La La La La La La La La Vie X 2

The more I walk, the more complicated the maze
That’s life

(Sometimes) is it alright?
(Keep tryin’) don’t doubt
(Rise) Face the mystery in front of you

You are the one and only, you’re the only one
Be yourself and live out your dreams every day
Every moment is beautiful
That’s LIFE! C’est La la Vie

You are the one and only, you’re the only one
Be yourself and live out your dreams every day
Fill each moment with you, That’s LIFE!
C’est La la Vie C’est La la Vie

After you look back, time is short
So fill it up, one by one

(Sometimes) is it alright?
(Keep tryin’) keep walking
(Rise) Face the world in you

You are the one and only, you’re the only one
Be yourself and live out your dreams every day
Every moment is beautiful
That’s LIFE! C’est La la Vie

Walk freely, your walk is dazzling
All your dreams will come true at the tip of your fingers

You are the one and only, you’re the only one
Be yourself and live out your dreams every day
Every moment is beautiful
That’s LIFE! C’est La la Vie

"Who is the lead vocalist?" The vocal director asked.

"I am." Yong-sun commented.

"We want you to open the song and sing the La La La- Vie with the main vocalist."

Soon enough the song was being split up with who was getting what lines. Whee-in worried a bit about how the rap was going to be incorporated but soon enough everyone had their parts and their own colors high-lighted so they knew where they had to come in at. Whee-in could barely contain her excitement as they were being sent into the recording booth all together.

The five of them went at the recording for a few times until, they got the product that they all wanted. They now had to leave the rest up to the producer and studio engineers. The five of them left the recording studio, buzzing with excitement. Whee-in couldn't even control herself as she saw the camera team waiting for them down the hall. She raced to the camera and tossed her arms up in the air.

"We did it!" She cheered out. Sun-young and Yoona ran up behind their maknae, throwing their arms around her. Yong-sun and Hee-yeon joining them in hugging Whee-in close and tight. They all chattered to the cameras before the crew got the footage they wanted and walked off. Manager Ki-bum soon was in front of the five excited girls.

"I heard the session went well. That's what I like to hear. Now, we have to get you girls into the dance studio with the choreographer." Ki-bum said.

"Ah, but we don't have the final product for our song." Yong-sun said slightly worried.

"We have the rough version, our choreographer can work off of it." Ki-bum reassured them.

They all followed Ki-bum to their dance practice studio. The room was pretty spacious with mirrors on the walls and a large stereo system in the corner. Whee-in didn't recognize the choreographer, but she could tell by her face, she was a serious one. The woman had her hair up in a tight bun and her clothes were a tank-top and yoga pants. Whee-in suddenly felt foolish for dressing up so much and wished she followed Sun-young and Yong-sun's lead in wearing sweats.

"Lets get it started." The woman said in a strict no-nonsense tone.

Whee-in simply nodded and pulled her long hair up into a ponytail as they begun to learn their choreography. Whee-in had no problems keeping up, Sun-young and her actually managed to learn the dance in one run. The dance was more involved with hand and arm motions, they also did a few ground moves, where they were pulled up by the other members. Whee-in really enjoyed the dance and liked the fact, she got to shine through a bit with her dancing skills. She wasn't even shy as the cameras came in to record some of their process. She continued to move freely and follow along to the rhythm of the beat, her body easily falling to the floor and coming back up when Yong-sun grabbed her hand. Nothing could stop the force of dancing Whee-in as the day dragged on.

~

Meanwhile Hye-jin had found herself at the studio in discomfort. She woke up to the unpleasant surprise of her period. She just wanted to curl up in bed and not leave the dorm for the day. But Hyuna had forced her out of bed. She could've slapped her leader if she hadn't enjoyed her so much. Ju-hyun had luckily had cramp medicine and gave it to Hye-jin to use for her pain. She had made it out of their dorm and to the studio, cramp free. She sat on the couch in the studio with her unnies as they were handed their lyric sheets for the song, they were going to debut with. Hye-jin carefully tried to focus on the lyrics but she felt her stomach cramping up once again. She leaned on Byul-yi for support, Byul-yi easily returned the gesture with an arm going over Hye-jin's shoulders.

"These lyrics are quite powerful for our debut." Ju-hyun commmented.

"They are but I like them." Seul-gi mumbled softly.

"The instrumental is all over the place. I don't know." Hyuna commented with a look of doubt.

"I know this sounds choppy and all over the place... But trust me, it will be good once we have the vocals for it." The producer said with a kind smile.

"Is it okay for us to debut with something this strong?" Hyuna asked.

"Unnie, I think... I think they know what their doing." Byul-yi commented.

"If you're doubting this then... We can push back the debut but I don't think my bosses would like that." The producer commented.

"Yah! No! We are doing it! We are HERSTORY and we are here to make history!" Hye-jin said. She couldn't imagine not debuting just because some of her unnies were scared of the message. Hye-jin stood up, her period pain seemingly gone. She wanted to do the song, no matter what the others thought. She marched towards the recording booth, pulling the door open. "We are doing this." She said.

"I agree." Byul-yi said as she stood up.

"That is the spirit. Give me 10 minutes, we need the other engineers and vocal director to come in." The producer commented.

The girls stood off to the side of the studio as they waited for the proper people to come in. Hye-jin held onto Byul-yi's arm as she felt her cramps kicking up once again. Hye-jin tried to hide her pain as she listened Hyuna fret about the song.

"I just hope that it comes out well for us." She commented.

"We came too far to push our debut back. Yah! If you're scared of this song then I'll be leader." Hye-jin commented, her arms crossing across her own chest.

Seul-gi, Ju-hyun, and Byul-yi looked at their fiery maknae with shock.

Hyuna crossed her arms over her own chest as well but didn't say anything. She simply gave a head nod to Hye-jin and Hye-jin dropped her arms at her own sides. She realized how rude she might've sounded so she quickly bowed to Hyuna and gave a quick apology. But to everyone's surprise, Hyuna simply laughed it off and agreed with Hye-jin's words. Soon enough all of them had their lyrics color coded on who was going to sing what. Hye-jin stared down at the lyric sheet as she pulled the headphones on her head. She was ready for this.

Ay- Wait a minute, follow the rules of the jungle
The weak will get eaten

They just push me forward, yeah push me forward
Nah you’ll get stepped on if you lose focus

Ay- Ay- It’s a red light, light
This is real life,
don’t even know what’s wrong

Ay- Ay- It’s a red light, light
Listen to the person
who’s warning you, red light

Breathe for a moment eh- oh- eh- oh-
This isn’t a war

Open your eyes wide,
you’re about to crash, stop the speeding

Be the witness of change
When everyone is being quiet
In front of the rough caterpillar that is being pushed

It turns on, red light
The clear red light
Turns on by itself, red light

Boy your excuses of trying your best
are just filled with doubts to me

[HY/BY]True love might just be
[HY/BY] a very slow wave (a very slow wave)

Ay- Ay- It’s a red light, light
Let’s look for the special emergency exit
filled with light in each other

Ay ay, think about it,
what was it that made
us stop? Red light

Turn around just once eh- oh- eh- oh-
Look for the precious things

Open your eyes wide,
you’re about to crash, stop the speeding

Be the witness of change
When everyone is being quiet
In front of the rough caterpillar that is being pushed

It turns on, red light
The clear red light
Turns on by itself, red light
It turns on, red light
Two of the red lights
In front of the hot sun and you is the red light

A miracle is coming
although it took so long
We’re waiting for and wanting the green light

Stop the speeding
(this is real life, listen to the voice)
Open your eyes wide
(yeah, look at the world before you)
They push me forward
(about to crash, you’re being pushed)
Caterpillar, that’s madness

It turns on, red light
The clear red light
Turns on by itself, red light
It turns on, red light
Two of the red lights
In front of the hot sun and you is the red light

(Ay- Wait a minute,
follow the rules of the jungle, the weak will get eaten

They just push me forward, yeah push me forward
Nah you’ll get stepped on if you lose focus

Caterpillar caterpillar,
when everyone was silent,

it , )

After the recording of the song, Hye-jin wanted to just curl up in a ball and sleep; But to her unfortunate luck, they were ushered to the dance practice room once again. They had met with the choreographer earlier that morning to go over the dance even before the lyrics. They found themselves being pushed to do the intense choreography once again. Hye-jin tried her best to ignore the cramps in her stomach as they danced to the music. Her body feeling upset as she walked in the circle as apart of their dance. Hye-jin hid her pain as she worked through the dance with the girls. There was no use in complaining because they had to get this down before the choreographer left for the day.

Whee-in and Hye-jin had both spent their day practicing their dances with their groups. There wasn't a moment that went by where the two didn't think of each other. Especially for Hye-jin as she worked hard through her pain. Whee-in had always knew how to get rid of Hye-jin's cramps. If she couldn't relieve Hye-jin of her annoying cramps, then she was always a good distraction for her best friend. Hye-jin just wanted to run into her best friend's arms and have a laugh about their day as it went on. Whee-in wanted to call her best friend and tell her everything about her day. They both craved for each other but they had to put each other away in the back of their minds, if they both desired to successfully debut.

They both wanted to debut for each other. It was kind of funny how they were each other's biggest motivators; yet, they were also each other's biggest distraction.

C'est La Vie by FLAVOR

Red Light by HERSTORY

(A/N: I apologize for this chapter being a little shorter.~ I hope you check out the songs I picked out for each group, I unfortunately know nothing about editing or I would've made a video to show off who is singing what. Which song would you have loved if this was a real debut with these girls? I personally would have to pick C'est La Vie myself. I hope you're enjoying reading this as much as I love writing it! Please do realize I am not an expert in music so if things seem weird/wrong, please let me know! Thank you for reading!)
