“I want you to look for a new secretary.”

It has been a few minutes since she dropped the bomb, and she is now starting to wonder if she would get out of this situation unscathed. Joohyun is still staring at her confused of her sudden request.

“What made you come up with that decision?” Joohyun finally broke the silence and their staring game

“I want to start living my life as Kang  Seulgi” she answered honestly

“And you are not Kang Seulgi when you are working for me? Who are you then?” Joohyun rebutted

She has been thinking about this for the last few months, how her identity is now Secretary Kang - assistant to the Vice Chairman and no one seems to remember who the real Kang Seulgi is.

“I am Secretary Kang when I am working for you. Don’t get me wrong, I am thankful for all the opportunities that you have given me but I want to be able to experience things that I won’t be able to while working for you. ” She answered, giving Joohyun her whole truth

“If that’s what you want” Joohyun finally relented

She bowed in acknowledgement before quickly leaving Joohyun’s office. She figured that she should make herself scarce as fast as possible before her boss changed her mind.

She was still on cloud nine when Joohyun peeked her head out of her office

“My parents invited me to dinner and you are coming with me.” Joohyun said firmly, leaving no room for arguments

“Of course Vice Chairman” she answered, she guessed her plans for tonight can wait another day, after all, soon enough she’ll be leaving her job and start doing whatever she wants

They arrived at the Bae’s house just before dinner is served. To say that this is the most uncomfortable diner she has ever been to would be an understatement. Mrs. Bae just keep on cracking jokes that she can’t even understand while Joohyun and Mr. Bae just keeps talking about the weather over and over again. She almost wanted to stab her eye just so they could have another topic to talk about.

After dinner, she quickly agrees once Mrs. Bae asked her to join her for tea while Joohyun and Mr. Bae stayed in the dining room to talk about business

“My Joohyun, she is not seeing anyone, am I correct?” Mrs. Bae asked while sipping her tea

“She is not” she answered “Although, she has been out a few times with Kim Yeri, daughter of Kim Motors’ CEO” she added as an afterthought

“I believe that it is only for business connections, is it not? Is my Joohyun finally opening up to someone?” Mrs. Bae asked hopefully

“I believe that it is only for business. She doesn’t even take her out aside from the social gatherings that she is required to attend to make connections” now that she thinks about it, she doesn’t think Joohyun has ever been in
