Prologue: Him
The SelectionXX XX 1461
In one of the many rooms in the castle where there's hardly any decorations other than piles of scrolls and one painting forcefully put by the Queen Dowager, Kim Jong Kook was skimming through and finishing up some documents and reports concerning the recent lack of harvests in Joseon at his table. He yawned after doing an all-nighter and due to how tired he was trying to motivate the people after he knew that they were demotivated due to the dry spell.
He then stood up and briskly organized the documents, not wanting to be late to the assembly concerning national issues with his ministers. Jong Kook knew that if he didn't put on the King's full attire, he would get severely lectured by his mother, the Queen Dowager and the ministers and at that time he didn't feel like dealing with them so he swiftly put it on and immediately headed towards the throne room.
As he treaded on the Bacote floors on the way there, palace attendants bowed down to show their respect. However, Jong Kook felt that something was off as he heard some murmurs of words that he hated to hear the most along with his name; marriage.
"Jeonha, you're finally here." Yoo Jae Suk, his prime minister bowed at the presence of Jong Kook. "Daebimama is also here mama."
"Your presence here is a pleasant surprise Eobamama. What has brought you here today to the daily assembly mama?" Jong Kook sat on the golden embellished throne as he glanced at his mother. "You hardly come here."
