The SelectionXX XX 1461
The roads in Joseon were bustling as per usual. People were walking along the streets living their daily lives as they haggled for prices of products with stall owners, casually eating porridge, and children were running around in the streets as they played together. It was just a normal day for the common folk. And all of the sudden, the bustling yet peaceful scene were disturbed by the sound of galloping horses approaching the center of the city.
People began to whisper amongst themselves as they try to guess what were these soldiers doing there. One man who’s riding the horse at the front of the group was taking out a scroll from his sack. Some deduced that the contents of the scroll might be to ask them commonfolk to help capture a suspect from a crime. As the man opened the scroll, the whispers grew louder.
“SILENCE!” The man glared at them, ensuring that silence is maintained. “Heed the decree of your King, Kim Jong Kook. He is holding a selection for his future companion as well as the Queen of the country. Any woman who is born between the year of the Red Fire Dragon and the year of the White Metal Rooster are eligible for the selection.”
