Time Check: 1am.

It was late, and having a headache from all that drinking certainly didn’t help me think straight. While I was physically present at the club, my mind was obviously with Faith – my daughter.  As I entered the apartment, I was greeted with Azura, my babysitter’s smile.

“Ah, I see that your husband is finally back from his business trip!” Azura exclaimed.

I was stunned, I stood there rooted not knowing what to reply; it was a lie I told her when she was enquiring about where the father of my daughter was, and honestly I had forgotten all about it.

“Yeah, thank you for looking over my daughter,” Jiyong answered for me and gave her a smile, which was an indication that she could take her leave.

“Chae, I’ll go now, see you tomorrow!” With that, she left, leaving me and Jiyong standing awkwardly in the middle of my living room, with Faith sleeping soundly in her room.

Azura was my neighbour, and she was a pre-school teacher, until she lost her job, that is. She was always in high spirits until I saw her in the lift one day, holding a box of her belongings, and just as I had expected, she had lost her job. Seeing her in such a state, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for her, and decided to ask her to be my babysitter. After all, I was really having a hard time juggling between Faith and work, work was getting really busy those few days.

“So, Faith huh? That’s her name?”

I sighed, and thought about what happened earlier that landed me in this situation…

Earlier on…

“Ms Lee, would you please prepare the contract for the signing with Choi Enterprises later since you’re in charge of the project? You’ll understand it more than me, and please be present during the signing of the contract,” My boss instructed, and I nodded before going to do what I was told.

Wow, a Korean company… I thought, and couldn’t help but wonder where the father of my child was. I had moved from Korea after that faithful night, and I worked hard for mine and my child’s future, and here I am, I landed myself a job at a top company here in Japan, and with my best friend around me I couldn’t help but be thankful for the chance that was given to me.

Was I too harsh on him? Was my decision to leave him too harsh? I couldn’t help but think about what would possibly happen if I didn’t leave, would we have been a happy family by now?

The meeting with the Choi Enterprises was about to start, and I was almost done with printing with the contract, and as told, I brought the contract and headed towards the meeting room, and that’s when I stopped at my feet upon opening the door.

Jiyong’s POV

“Mr Kwon, I’m really glad that you’re here, I’ll get Ms Lee to go through the contract with you, she will be in charge of it. Mr Park, a partner of Choi enterprises explained as I stepped into their meeting room.

Ms Lee? The name instantly rang a bell in my head, I couldn’t help but think about the foolish thing that I did 3 years ago… Ah, how stupid I was, thinking that I wanted something more, something apart from whatever I had, Lee Chaerin…

When will I ever, ever get to see her again? Thinking about her just make my heart ache. She kept our baby right? Both of them are safe and sound, right?

“Mr Park, I’m here.” A familiar voiced broke me out of my thoughts and I looked up, seeing the woman that I was longing for, ever since she left.

“Ah, thanks Ms Lee. This is Mr Kwon, a representative from Choi Enteprises.” Her boss introduced us.

My eyes never left hers while she walked towards me, shook my hand and also started explaining the contract and project to me. I looked like I was star struck; I obviously was more than that, with the woman I loved, wait scratch that, love, in front of me looking absolutely stunning with her blonde hair in a neat bun, and that red lipstick and that tight skirt that wrapped her thighs and perfectly.

What a goddess, my goddess.

The signing of the contract went smoothly, she avoided all eye contact with me and collected the documents and excused herself before I could say anything, or even reach out to her. Seeing her reluctance to talk to me, I used my last resort – to request that she was present at the party that was organised to celebrate the partnership between these two companies and of course, I got my way.

Chaerin:

 I stepped out of the meeting room, I didn’t realise that I was holding in my breath until I heaved a sigh of relief before proceeding back to my office. However, I suppose good moments don’t last. I thought that it’ll be the last time seeing him since he was only representing his boss to sign the contract. To my dismay, right after I witness him leaving our company, my boss sent me a message.

‘I’m expecting you at the party tonight. Don’t disappoint me.’ – Mr Park

I frowned at the message. Was he the one who requested for me to be there? I mean, I am in charge of the project but that doesn’t mean I need to be celebrating right? All I wanted to do was get my job done.
