Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment

The moment she stepped back into the house, Kai whisked her back to her room.

"I decorated this while you were gone, do you like it?" He smiled gleefully, anticipating her reaction.

"It's... Wow..." she muttered, awestruck. She felt that the wishing star she prayed to every night blessed her so well, that she was so undeserving of what her lucky stars have given her in this new 'life'.

The plain bed was converted with a furry pink blanket with princesses all over, the bolsters and pillows having covers of similar designs as opposed to the plain colours they had worn before.

Pink cupboards lined the right side of the wall, all filled with many many things, some of which she has not even seen, though there were these long sticks (Shiumim called them wands, she thought), and they had magic. She took one out excitedly, only to be disappointed, as the toy wand did not work.  Kai chuckled from behind her, urging her to explore the rest of the room instead.

She even had a huge closet, now magically filled with the clothes Xiumin bought earlier as well as some of their shrunken hand-me-downs. It came with a full body mirror, and she twirled in front of it excitedly, only to lose her balance.

"Ah!" She gasped, squeezing her eyes to brace herself for the impact, but even 5 seconds later, she did not feel pain.

Slowly opening her eyes, she realised that her body was floating in the air.

"How did you do that?" She gasped again, this time in awe, her doe eyes widening even more than before.

Gently waving his wand, he helped her to land lightly on her feet before flashing her a cheeky grin. "Magic." Well technically, he wasn't lying.

Thanking him, she shrugged and decided not to dwell too much on how it works(or she'll have way too much to think of) and decided to discover the left side of the room instead. Besides, they used magic so often, if she started to question everything they did, she'd never be able to sleep.

Moving to the left side, there was a bookshelf and a cosy little seat right next to the window, which overlooked the busy street and the balcony of the second floor. She could see an unfamiliar figure reading a book from her window, and shrunk away from the window.

"Relax, princess. It's just Suho hyung."

Knowing that it was someone that Kai knew eased her. Then again, she could vaguely recall him at the table during lunch just earlier before.

"How about you say hi?" Kai prompted, gesturing towards the window.

She summoned up her courage, and pressing her button nose against the glass, she rapped the window lightly. When he turned to look up, she waved shyly, before retreating into the safety of Kai's arms.

After getting bored of blowing hot air on the glass and writing messages on the condensation, she decided to explore her new window seat more.

As she sat on the cushion covered space with her back pressed against the wall, the window on her left, she noticed that there was a small shelf of books on the wall opposite her. It was filled with childten's classics, and picking one up, she noticed how the book pages were yellowish and the edges of the book were soft, and countless amount of dog ears were left on the pages.

She didn't mind any of those, and was happy to receive books to read.

"That was my favourite book. May I sit here?" He asked, and after she nodded, he sat down beside her.

"I hope you like what we did with your room?"

She nodded in contentment. "Thank you, for all this." she said softly, returning her attention to the book.

He too, whipping out his phone to do some research on child psychology, leaned against bookshelf and read, the two of them in the cosy reading space.

---

After dinner, she headed back to her cosy corner, burying her little nose into yet another book.

It was supposed to be Luhan's turn now (and tomorrow morning), but Kris, who thought it would be awkward having a day to himself, decided that he could just use a few hours with her.

He popped his head through the doorway, only for her to shrink into the corner.

"Can I come in?"

She feels obligated to nod, but doesn't relax, her big brown orbs filled with fear as she bites her lip, trying to concentrate on her book and not his scary face.

It was as if the past day of her opening up didn't happen. She had withdrawn back to her shell, as id realising that she should not have been so open, so trusting. Maybe it was just because he looked intimidating, or maybe because she was generally insecure.

Still, Kris could not exactly figure out the sudden change of temperance, but he was determined to find out. Whipping out his smart phone (muggle tech is too irresistable, the convinience!), he decided to find information on how to approach her.

She sat at the far end of the room, shrinking into her book corner everytime he tried to get closer.

Occasionally, she'd take a peek at him and try to read his emotions, like she usually would with her father, to see if he was displeased or if she was going to get hurt. His eyebrows were furrowed, giving off a very unapproachable vibe, which scared her.

Hugging her squirtle doll closer to her chest with her free hand, she observed him quietly.

---

An hour passed without the two saying a word.

Kris, wanting to stand up to soothe the ache from his legs, failed pathetically, falling back onto his as he tried to stand.

That caused Yeri to giggle softly, and seeing that, he showed off his gummy smile.

Renewed with hope, he stands up successfully, and approaches her cautiously, keeping a good three meters away from her, before plopping down in the middle of her room.

"Hi kid. I'm Kris, I know I look scary, but I promise I don't mean any harm." He introduced himself in a gentle tone, crossing his fingers in hopes that she'll reply.

"H-hi Kris, I'm Yerim. You look scary, and I'm scared of you, but you're funny." She replies, and he can't help but chuckle.

"Alright then. E-erm, d-do you like to draw? Because I'm the best artist in the world!" He swiftly changes the topic ( he thanks Google for the advice), while a board and set of colourful markers come flying her way, stopping right in front of her.

He has an identical set in front of him, and he sits on air, cross legged, as if that was a normal thing.

She smiled as she thanked him for the items, and decided to busy herself with drawing instead of thinking too much.

He, on the other hand, analyses her facial features, and using his marker as a reference, he measures her face and such, positive that he will come up with a master piece.

---

"Doesn't this look lovely? Guess who it is?" He says, after a long moment of intensive drawing.

His words catch her attention, and those big brown eyes settled onto his drawing board.

After staring at it for a whole minute, she could not decide if the picture was a deformed cookie or an overweight hamster. She cocked her head sideways in confusion, looking back at him for an explanation.

"It's you, kid."

Immediately, she wrinkles her nose in disgust. "No way! I don't look that ugly!" Then she realises what she has done, and she bursts into strings of apologies "S-sorry I didn't m-mean it that way! I mean it was nice please don't hurt-"

"It's okay Yerim, you don't have to hide what you feel." He interjects, quick to reassure the tiny girl.

"N-no, I'm sorry please don't disown me-"

"Yerim. It's alright sweetie, I-We wouldn't hurt you. I promise. It isn't even that big of an issue, don't worry, kid." He hesitates, but eventually scoots closer to her to attempt to rub her back gently to calm her down.

She flinched as he came closer, but slowly relaxed as he soothes her. That was not the outcome she had expected, and she likes it.

She likes it very much.

After their little drawing session, he insists on tucking her in. She was slightly reluctant, since beds reminded her of when she last saw her mother (besides in dreams), and the blanket could feel suffocating, but she could not explain how it all felt so warm, so comforting.

He smoothes the blanket out, pulling it up to just below her chin. He couldn't help but notice that she didn't look very comfortable. "Your arms are supposed to be outside." He says, and she puts her arms outside the blanket, looking much more at ease. "Just in case you need to fight any monsters, your hands are here!" He pats them lightly, and she chuckles at his attempt to lift her spirits.

"Do you want me to keep you company?" He asks, and she nods in response. "Yes please."

He pulls out his wand to extend the bed, but she grabs onto his hand before he could cast a spell. "It's okay, we can squeeze!" She offers.

"Alright then, kid."

He lifts the blanket so that he is tucked underneath it comfortably as well (except for his feet, they couldn't fit underneath the regular sized blankets because this guy is irregularly tall).

He knew she wouldn't be too happy if he used his wand again, so he messages Xiumin yo come up and help him out.

Xiumin appears with a snowy white 'poof!', chuckling at the sight of his feet sticking out of the blankets and helps him to add a tiny extension for his feet.

"Good night Myemim, good night Yifan." He tucks the both of them in because he can.

"Night." They chorused.

Sleeping beside Yifan felt completely different because he was way taller than her mom, though she subconsciously snuggled closer to his side as the night deepened, dreaming of her past moments with her mother.

Status: unedited

I'm not sure if this was good because yerim has a pretty confusing character  (since she's a kid, and has some form of trauma) so I'm not sure if I kept her character constant ekkkk (but then again, kids are very unpredictable so she isn't really very constant either aldjjfkskdk)

I just wanted to put this chapter up because I feel like her development with Kris is something so fluffyyyy and I like it even though my lack of good vocab really doesn't do the scene I had in mind justice >.<

Ill edit it soon,hopefully

Thanks for reading ~ please comment if ya liked it/ any improvements that can be made! Thank you ~

Until next time~

Chapter 6: Oh my god, I just love how Luhan just understands she needs reassuration of even the smallest things like going down a slide properly. His little 'good job' made my heart so warm. Poor little Yerim, she must've paid for every little mistake she ever did in her short life to react like that

Chapter 5: Yeeees an update! I loved it! I think you made good points in this one, and I'm glad that Yifan's awkwardness and clumsy self got her to relax in the end. He's a warm giant that means good after all. I loved the tucking in scene where Kris was like oh, uhh, okay, um, help? And Xiumin arrived in a white poof. So cute.

Chapter 4: I ALMOST CHOKED WHEN I SAW HER TEASER. LIKE, WHO GAVE YOU A PERMISSION TO LOOK THAT DAMN GOOD, MISS? But it got me so excited for the comeback! I hope she's feeling better already. Being busy could really help to get her mind off of things.

Anyway, as for the story, it's progressing quite fast. The relationship between her and the members, I mean. The boys are excited to take care of her, of course they are, they know her story, and they are adults, so being affectionate with her shouldn't be a problem. But Yeri is surprisingly open to them too. I thought she'd be a bit more shy and all after her experience but it's good I guess. All hope isn't lost and maybe having a mother that cared at least a bit helped here. And man, she's knowledge thirsty too, but I guess that's one of the only things she had when she was still back at home. Understandable. I just don't see her being all sweet and happy with no worries with all of them at the first sight. And also asking things. I thought she wouldn't dare to ask things before with her dad. But at least she's enjoying the moment now. But favorites, she would have some favorites from all the members that she'd seek comfort and security from, right? Since she seems to be especially scared of Kris. You know, the kind of trust bond a young kid has with that one adult who they count on in parties and such, hiding behind them and seeking comfort. But yeah. Glad to see you alive x) hope I made at least some sense
