The legend of Iara, or legend of the Mother of the Water, is part of the Brazilian folklore. It is a story of indigenous origin from the Amazon tribes.

Iara or Yara, translated from the Indian language, means "someone who lives in the water". It's a mermaid that inhabits the waters of the Amazon River.

Iara's story says she was a beautiful looking Indian with long black hair and vibrant eyes. The legend says that Iara, besides her exuberant beauty, she was a great warrior and this caused envy in her brothers that because of this, they decided to kill her.

For being a great warrior, Iara ended up reversing the situation and killing her brothers; afraid of the punishment of her father, who was the chief of the tribe, Iara decided to runaway, but her father managed to find her. As punishment for the death of her brothers, her father decides to throw her in the Amazon River.

The fish, with pity for the poor girl, saved her and transformed her into a mermaid. Since then, Iara inhabits the Amazonian rivers, conquering men and then taking them to the bottom of the river, where theydrown to death.

It is believed that if man can escape the charms of Iara he goes mad in a state of torpor and only a shaman can heal him.

"Aunt, I'm not a seven year old boy who believes in these stories anymore!"

Namjoon was never the kind of person who believed in fairy tales or anything the church ladies his father frequented talked about, not that he was a dumb skeptic or simply ignorant; he just liked to question things and always told his friends that it was better to see all sides of a situation than to believe in it, and sometimes his aunts annoyed him only a little because he didn't believe in anything. They used to say that he only believed in himself.

Of course, he didn't tell his parents that he didn't believe in those silly tales, but it was obvious to his aunts and grandparents that he didn't believe it, the boy's bored face as he heard them was clear.

"Hoseok's calling me, bye, aunt." Namjoon said taking his coat and cell phone out of the room as fast as he could.

No, Hoseok wasn't really calling him, Namjoon just wanted to run away from that house anyway.

When he turned the corner of the street from his house, Namjoon took the cell phone from his pocket and dialed Hoseok's number, he would get a reason to his parents for leaving home, after all, he was still eighteen and needed to tell his parents where he was going and what time he was coming back, most of the kids in his class at school did not do that anymore, but Namjoon was still attached to his parents, despite all their craziness.

Hoseok didn't answer the call on the first attempt, nor on the second, but on the third he answered on the second ring.

"For s sake, Namjoon, you didn't had a better time to call, you little ?" Hoseok asked and Namjoon could clearly hear moans coming from the other side of the line.

"Who in the ing hell have at 3 in the afternoon, Jung Hoseok?!"

"When you have a hot boyfriend like mine, whenever he wants to!" Namjoon heard Min Yoongi's raspy voice coming out of the other side of the line, with more loud moans and the sound of something breaking.

Namjoon rolled his eyes and closed the call, leaving his cell phone in his pocket again. His eyes reached the establishment he had opened a few weeks before, it was a cozy-looking coffee shop. Namjoon sighed, trying to get the imagine and the sound of his best friend having with his other friend out of his mind and walked to the front of the coffee shop. The place was not full just like the other times he had been in there, but something caught his eye this time.

Near the ordering desk, there was a small boy with an angry face, Namjoon frowned when he saw him, his neighbourhood wasn't that big so he found it strange that he didn't know the boy at least by sight. He had the darkest hair Namjoon ever seen and his skin seemed to be kissed by the sun. That boy was the definition of the word 'Beautiful'.

“C’mon, Jin, I need this job!” The boy practically begged with a paper on his hands, apparently that was his resumé. “I don't have anything else to do.”

“Jimin, I wish I could help you, but you don't have anything on your resume. Not even a cellphone number or an address. We cannot hire you like this.”

The boy, Jimin, swallowed hard and took a deep breath, crumpling the paper into his little fingers. Not that Namjoon noticed that Jimin had little cute fingers.

“What if I come back here tomorrow with all of this? You can give me the job?”

“I can make an interview for you, but that's all I can do.”

“It's enough for me.” Jimin seemed to have a little smirk on his lips, a s

I am Brazilian and this fanfiction is fully based off a Brazilian legend, so if someone doesn't understand something, can ask me in here or on my twitter @jungthorn. But 90% of this story is original and not part of the legend.
