Alright I’ll admit it…I couldn’t bring myself to say what I rehearsed in my head. But you can’t deny I did a good job back there. 

I was so smooth that i surprised myself. How scary. But at least it all worked out in the end.

it took about roughly 10 minutes to reach my house from where we were, reaching the designated apartment, I pulled out my keys to unlock the door for the both of us to enter. 

I couldn’t help but feel extremely giddy that I was finally able to approach the girl i have been admiring for so long, but I didn’t want to look too excited, the last thing i wanted to do was scare her away. God that would be embarrassing, even the thought of it made me die a little inside. 

As we walked in I went straight to my room to grab a towel and spare clothes and returned promptly to the girl, who was waiting and timidly looking around the living room. Gosh she was so cute that it made me smile without me even realizing. But i went back to looking neutral before approaching her.

“Heres a towel and spare clothes for you to change into, the bathroom is through the halls, to your left, feel free to help yourself.” 

Taking the things off my hands the girl bows gratefully before walking towards the said direction. 

While she took her time, I decided to make a warm drink for the both of us. 

Nothing beats drinking hot chocolate on a rainy day. 

After a couple minutes I hear footsteps reaching the living room. Just in time. I took the hot drinks and walked over, holding out a mug for her to take. 

“Thank you..” I heard her mutter softly. Gosh she even looked good wearing my clothes, albeit a bit oversized but good regardless. I hoped really hard that i wasn’t blushing, but the girl wasn’t even looking at me so i guess it wouldn’t have even mattered even if i did. 

I guess I should try to break the ice. 

“I’m Eunbi by the way…Hwang Eunbi.” Finally…she looked at me,

“Yerin….Jung Yerin” she put her head down again….darn it! 

Yerin…What a fitting name for a lovely lady, but of course I didn’t say it out loud and just ended up smiling at her whilst sitting down on the floor, in front her. 

“You feeling alright now?” i asked feeling slightly concerned.

“Y-yeah…I’m sorry…for causing you trouble…” 

I shook my head and smiled, “no not at all. You’re no trouble at all” 

There was silence again…man this is going to be tough. 

“So what brought you out in the rain like that?” I sipped on my hot chocolate. 

Glancing up I notice her become nervous. I guess the question was a bit too personal by the looks of it, not to mention the fact that a random stranger just saw her cry her heart out. 

“Y-you don’t have to tell me if you don't want to….” I hurriedly spoke so that Yerin wouldn’t feel too uncomfortable.

There was silence….Ugh Eunbi you messed up. I mentally scolded myself. 

Until I heard her speak. 

“…I just like the rain…” Yerin used her thumbs to draw small circles against her mug. She was lying, it was very subtle but she sounded like she was trying to convince herself before trying to convince me.

There was a storm of emotions raging inside her, and i could tell without having to look her in the eye. I saw how her face kept contracting with all the different thoughts she was having. For a moment she would be happy….but that happiness would fade into sadness, confusion, anger…and then….nothing….her face would become unreadable and then after awhile she would look so defeated, that it worried me. 

So I acted oblivious…that way she wouldn’t have to force herself to continue through all that turmoil inside her. If only i could stop her from making those expressions, stop her from thinking, even for just a little bit….just enough to help her mind relax.

“I like the rain too” I spoke up. “Well I didn’t before but I started to like it a lot more lately…at one point i actually wished it would rain more.” time for me to ramble on about random things.

I saw the corners of her lips quirk up a little and that was enough to make me continue with my plan. I wonder how she would look if she sincerely smiled.

I started to talk about random things about my life, mostly just funny things. And although she wasn't looking at me I knew Yerin was listening attentively and I swear I saw hints of her lips curving upward! I just wish she would look up. But I guess the pleasure of keeping her thoughts occupied with my mindless chatter will have to do for now.

I don’t know how long I’ve been talking, but never in my life have I ever talked this much in the 20 years that I have been living. It was only when I heard a growling noise that I snapped back to reality! 

Yerin’s stomach was growling and I saw the tip of her left ear becoming red from embarrassment.

I mentally slapped myself for not noticing that it was past dinner time, and for being a completely horrible host. 

I quickly got on my feet, “What would you like to eat Yerin-ssi?” 

“A-anything is fine…” She’s so quiet I almost missed her reply. 

With a nod I walk over to the counter to grab my phone, “I hope you're okay with pizza.” 

I looked at her as she gave her signature nod. 

I punched in the number for a nearby pizza place and ordered, and within a few minutes the food had arrived.

We ate in silence, I was never the one to talk when eating anyway so it didn’t bother me as much.  And as much as I wanted to get to know Yerin, I wasn’t going to pry out on her life if she didn’t want to talk about it. 

I’m just happy that she looks a lot more steady compared to before, and that was good enough for me.

After eating Yerin offered to help me clean up but that was out of the question, so I just told her I won’t take long so she could take a seat and relax.

I cleaned up fairly quick, or so I think I did, but coming back, I notice Yerin had already fallen asleep on the couch.  

She must’ve been really exhausted…i thought, walking over to the couch to see Yerin propped up with her head hanging to the side rather uncomfortably. 

So I slowly laid her down into a more comfortable position making sure that she wouldn’t wake up with a stiff neck in the morning and draped a blanket over her.

I gently brushed away all the stray hair from Yerins face and tucked it behind her ear. This is the first time I’m actually able to see her face so clearly. Her eyes were still swollen from earlier events, I wonder what or who could make her cry like that. I swear if its a person…..

Ahem…anyway aside from that, she looked so peaceful…like all the pain in the world had suddenly vanished in her slumber. 

After watching her for a few minutes I decided that I should retire up to my room. But before I could leave i felt a small tug, causing me to turn around and see her…she was still asleep…while her fingers gripped onto the sleeve of my shirt.  

“d…..don’t….go..” her voice was merely a whisper, but it sounded so vulnerable. 

“..Ple..ase…” 

I don’t know what to do…

I felt my heart beat faster, this is so unfair. I know nothing about her and here I am still falling….for a girl who I met under the embrace of the summer rain.
