1904, where life is desperate in Korea due to the Japanese Oppression. Park Jinyoung's family decided sell Jinyoung as a picture bride to a young, Taiwanese-American business man in the States named Mark Tuan. Mark sent in a picture for the process and Jinyoung's family decided that Mark will be a good fit for Jinyoung despite of not even knowing who the other male is. The picture that Mark sent, he looks like he is around his early twenties. Looking all handsome with his hair groomed back along with a nice clean suit brought out the classiness of the young heir. Sixteen-year-old Jinyoung decided to marry this Mark Tuan so he can escape from the oppression and hopefully bring his family along after he settles in America. After the twenty-three days of this gruesome journey on the ship, Jinyoung departed from his hometown, Jinhae, and has finally arrived to America, the land of promises. However, this Mark Tuan looked nothing like the person in the picture. Sure, there are some resemblances and similarities, but this who he claims to be Mark Tuan seems a lot older. He looks like a man in his late thirties. Jinyoung didn't talk much when Mr. Tuan's driver drove the both of them to Mark's place. This is the first time Jinyoung rode on a car.
