I Am In The Future

Description

I know you are surprised to read this, but, please, finish and read carefully what I have written. It’s going to sound ridiculous, unbelievable and like a trick or something, but I need you to believe me. I don’t know how this happened, and why. I only can promise you that I won’t leave you. I’ll do my best to guide you and be there for you. In the worst scenario and when you will feel alone, know that I am by your side. I know that everything is different now., and don’t mean to scare you but don’t trust anyone…except for the one person. But about this later. But first of all, we cannot avoid the obvious problem- you woke up in the future….

Foreword

This sound…it’s too loud. My head is about to explode. I am trying to open my eyes, but feeling like eyelids weight a ton each. This damned sound, my head. Finally I’m opening my eyes slowly, but the light is too bright. It’s getting harder to breath. Where am I? My brain is working more slowly. Trying to remember the last thing happaned, it gives another wave of headache. I’m giving up and trying to understand where I am. The room starts to get shapes. First thing I notice are white walls. It’s a room, clean room. The bright light coming from the left window is still too bright. Eyes are tearing, when I try to sweep them I notice that long line is connected to my hand. What the hell is going on here? I…I…where am i? the sound, the beep speeds up. Door in front suddenly opens. The young woman in nurse suit looks at me surprised. She starts to shout, calling someone? The middle-aged doctor runs into the room. He immediately approaches and flashes the light right into my eyes. I am trying to cover but the line connected to me doesn’t let me. I miss the moment when doctor ask me something. He repeats his question

  • Do you know where you are?

When I try to answer him no sound came from my mouth, and it feels bitter.

  • Don’t tense your throat. If you understand me, just nod- I let several seconds pass before to nod. – Good, do you want to drink? –Another nod. Nurse appeared from nowhere with the glass of water and straw in it. In two sips I finish whole glass. – That’s enough give her more water in half an hour. Patient, do you remember your name?
  • Ti…Tiff…Tiffany Hwang – nurse and doctor look at each other.
  • Do you know why you are here? – I shook my head.
  • It was a car crush. We received you in very bad condition. Our doctors fought several hours for your life. Your heart stopped for whole three minutes and thirty seven seconds. You were in coma for two months. But the worst is in the past.
  • Your husband was so anxious all this time, he was coming every day - the sound came from the nurse. Wait, what? Husband? I don’t’ have a husband. What is she talking… the beep sound sped up again. Doctor gave angry glance on the nurse who looked shrunk, and looked twice smaller.
  • Mrs. Lee please, calm down I looked around looking for this Mrs. they are talking to, but they all looking at me. – Do you know what year is now?

I started to look around in panic. What is going on? Are they crazy?

  • It’s 2017. Your name is Tiffany Lee. You are 28 years old

I looked at him shocked. What ….no. do I look like 28?

  • N…no. You…you are wrong - I barely manage to say. several waves of pain run through my throught, but it couldn't stop me.
  • Please tell me what is the last thing you remember?
  • No, no…NO! You are wrong! My name is Tiffany Hwang. I study psychology in Seoul University. It’s … -my voice broke- it’s 2011…
  • Mrs…Patient, please calm down. Prepare thirty mg of morphine.- the last thing was said to the nurse.

She inserted the liquid to the straw I was connected, while doctor and two other nurses hold me. it's a dream. This thought was running again and again in my mind. The nightmare where everybody attacks you and you can't wake up. It is a dream, it's a dream, it's dream. It cannot be true. WAKE UP, Tiffany, WAKE UP!!!

Room rounds around and silhouettes slowly loose heir  forms. And suddenly everything seems not important anymore. I’m still trying to say that they have no rights to hold against my will, but less hard.

  • She woke up - not a question, but claim comes from the door side. The last thing I managed to hear before everything goes dark.
