part 6
꽃길 / gift"Eunbi!" Sojung calls out. "Eunbi yah!" Her eyes tremble in panic as she scans through high and low around the playground.
She releases a sigh. Still fretful, she tries to look around for signs of the child and spots a young girl running towards her.
She squats down before the girl. "Annyeong," she says, placing a hand on her shoulder, "Where are your parents?"
"You called me," the girl plainly states.
Sojung tilts her head in confusion, completely clueless of the situation.
"You called me," she states again, "I'm Eunbi."
As she finally seems to realise the situation Sojung's hand lifelessly drops from the girl's shoulder, stunned and puzzled about what she should do next.
"Eunbi," she slowly starts, "Where are your parents?"
The girl stares blankly at her and does not answer.
"I'm sorry, this girl is with us," she turns to see an adult, most possibly a social worker, running in their direction. She sees the logo printed on the woman's shirt and recognises its belonging to the orphanage just down the road. She immediately understands.
"Eunbi, let's go," Sojung watches as the social worker holds onto the girl's hand and lightly pulls her, but she does not move. Instead, her eyes stay still on Sojung.
The girl also named Eunbi finally moves after multiple tugs on her arm, but as she walks away she seems to be unable to take her eyes off Sojung. Sojung decides to put the matter aside despite her puzzlement, remembering the urgent thing she has yet to do.
"Jung Eunbi! Eunbi yah!" she shouts and runs around the play
