Chapter 7: I Love You
It Might Be You"You want to go back to the company? They might be looking for us," he says, pointing to his car.
"Yeah. Wait, are you going to be my instructor since you're not mad at me anymore?" you ask, getting your hopes up.
Mark frowns, "No, sadly. I talked to the CEO last night and he said we can't."
You slowly nod, feeling really sad that you can't start over again with Mark and that you'll have less time to be with him. He gently opens his car door for you, and you sit down, looking at Mark as he carefully sits down in the driver's seat. He starts to drive and you feel your heart race again. The way he focuses on the road and the way his veins nearly pop out as he grips the wheel so tightly makes you admire him so much. The way his gold Omega watch nearly leaves a mark on his wrist from wearing it too tight and the way he glances at you every now and then just to check if you're alright makes you feel all weird inside, making your heart beat faster and faster. Without saying one single word during the whole car ride, you finally arrive at SM again. He opens your door again and he gives you a sweet smile. You arrive at the entrance and he gives you one last smile before you go in.
"I...I'm glad that we're okay now," he shyly tells you, looking down a bit.
"I'm...glad I...changed you," you quickly reply.
He gives you a cute laugh and says, "Thank you again."
You go back inside and see Jaemin waiting for you. He smiles and right after he sees Mark, his cute grin immediately fades away. Jaemin approaches Mark with his hands in his pockets.
"Why were you with my girlfriend?" Jaemin asks Mark.
"You have nothing to worry about...unless there's something that makes you feel threatened," Mark smirks looking at you.
"Uh, Jaemin! It's fine! I just got some fresh air and it turns out he was outside as well," you assure him.
"Fine, then," he tells you, putting his arm around you.
He drops you off to your dance practice room, giving you a quick peck on the cheek before leaving you alone. You start to contemplate and think about the conversation you and Mark just had. The conversation made you so happy, and you actually feel quite happy with Mark. Though you two might never end up together even though he's no longer in love with Herin, he probably will never even love you back. You two have never even gotten the chance to start over or be friends. All you know is, he has a special place in your heart. He's always had a special place in your heart even though he's been arrogant ever since. You have the urge to protect him and make sure that he's okay although you know it's really none of your business. You want him to be your instructor again and for some reason, you want to find more reasons to spend time with him, even if it's just for a minute. You sigh as you sit down on the couch in the room, thinking about why Mark has such a huge impact in your life, even though he's been so mean most of the time you've known him.
"Aish, Y/N! Stop that! Stop thinking about Mark," you say to yourself, hitting yourself on the head because you can't seem to stop thinking about him.
"You okay?" you hear a voice ask you. You turn around and see Herin behind you.
"Uh, uh. Herin, hello," you stand up and bow 90 degrees.
"You seem like you're in deep thought," she says.
"Um, no! I'm fine! Thank you though," you hesitate.
"Ah, I see. I know I haven't really talked to you. Nice to meet you!" she says, walking out of the room.
"What was that about?" you ask yourself, starting to feel nervous. You wonder why she just walked in like that to ask if you were okay when she really doesn't even care about you. You stop thinking about her and the thought of Mark starts to overtake your brain again. You can't seem to stop smiling about how Mark was so sweet to you and about how you two are finally okay.
//One week later//
"Jaemin-ah, can we talk?" you gently ask Jaemin on the rooftop during your lunch break.
"Of course! What's up?" he smiles, holding your hand.
You let go of his hand and reply, "Jaemin, I can't do this anymore. Let's end this."
"End what?!" Jaemin panics.
"Us. I think we...need to break up. Jaemin, I loved you and I think I still do. It's just that I'm not fully content when I'm with you," you explain, feeling nervous about breaking up with him just like that.
"Why are you not fully content?! Did I do something wrong?!" he yells.
"No. I-I feel a bit empty whenever I'm with you. I'm happy and you make me happy, but there's a feeling of emptiness in my heart still," you quietly tell him.
"I thought you sorted out your thoughts last week. What happened? Did you figure out why you're so sad all the time?" he asks, flooding you with questions.
"I did get things sorted out! I was happy that day!" you reply.
"You were with Mark that day! Don't tell me you've fallen for Mark?" he asks, raising his voice.
"I-I don't know! I really don't. All I know is, I was happy that day.
