Not So Lonely Christmas

Not So Lonely Christmas

A/N : I don’t really know what types of foods are eaten for Christmas dinner in Korea, so I’m making it be a traditional Western one.

--------

Waking up to an empty house on Christmas is not exactly what I was expecting this year. Last year Christmas was so full of magic; both my parents and siblings were here. Now they have all seemingly forgotten about me. I mean I know that they probably haven’t; it’s just that this year they decided to just stay busy rather then being home for the holidays.

Gathering my thoughts I pushed my covers completely off of me, swung my feet off my bed and stood up. Stretching, I grabbed my hoodie off the back of my desk chair and proceeded to walk out my bathroom door. Walking down the empty hallway, I started to feel the effects of being home alone. Not even our maids were there; every single last one had been escorted home so that they could spend the season with their loved ones. I guess to my family I just was not important enough to receive even a simple phone call.

Walking towards the kitchen I spotted the Christmas tree, underneath it I spotted the mountain of presents; just with no one else to be there to open them with it was not the same. Glancing at the fireplace, I slowly ran my fingers down one particular photograph. A photograph from the previous Christmas, where my whole family was there and we could not be happier. I guess a lot can happen in a years time, and a lot can help to tear a family’s spirit apart.

Grabbing a coffee mug from the cabinet, I slowly glanced around. About this time last year, we would have been almost finished unwrapping all of the presents that lay amongst one another, but sadly not one had been touched. Sighing, I ran my hand through my dirty blonde hair as I went to pour some coffee into my mug. Walking back towards the living room, I could not really think of anything to do on this so-called special day.

My mother and father were back in America, due to business. My older sister was away in England with her boyfriend, visiting his family. While my brother was somewhere in Australia; it was a last minute trip he planned with his friends, and I got left here all by myself. Last time I checked all my friends were busy, and I did not have that special someone to spend the holiday with. My only close friends were all busy with their schedules; being famous did not mean you got to relax during the holidays.

And being alone and unwrapping a mountain of presents was slightly lame. It’s all about spending time with the people who mean the most to you, and hearing how excited they got when they unwrap the present you bought them and it was exactly what they wanted. To me, Christmas is not the same without my family, without my friends.

Sitting Indian style in front of my tree, I reached out and lightly grasped the most important gift that I had bought. To: Myungsoo Oppa, it read in my legible cursive. It was not the most expensive present I had bought but to me it was the most important. Kim Myungsoo was the one person that meant the most to me, but the sad part is… yeah you guessed it, he did not know.

I pulled my iPhone4S out of my sweatpants pocket and glanced at the screen; a small smile appeared across my face as I saw that I had seven missed text messages.

After replying to them and wishing them all a Merry Christmas, I stared at my background picture of all eight of us. Slightly smiling, I once again ran my hand through my hair and sipped some of my hot coffee. Inhaling deeply, I stared at the burning fire. For once, it snowed this year yet sadly I had no one to enjoy the cold air with so I just decide it would be best to just relax inside my family’s mansion. Deep in thought, I did not feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I stared off, laying down on my couch as light Christmas music played all around me.

The doorbell rang, as the music continued to play. I glanced towards the door as I began to ponder as to who would be at my door Christmas day. Opening the door, before I could even say anything I was engulfed in a hug. “NOONA!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!”

Laughing I returned the hug to Sungjong and lightly squeezed him as my eyes started to water slightly. As he pulled away, his smile turned to a frown, “Noona, no. Why are you crying?”

“Why are you making my baby girl cry on Christmas pabo?!” Hoya slightly thumped the back of Sungjong’s head. Hoya was my best friend out of the entire group. I mean we have all known each other the same amount; it’s just Hoya and I clicked and had the most in common, and he happens to practically be family. Hoya gazed at me with concern, and that look in his eyes where he knew exactly what was wrong without asking. My voice cracked a little as I spoke, “Oh Hoya.”

He picked me up in his big strong arms, and carried me into the house with the rest of Infinite following behind us. He sat on the couch, as he continued to hold me. I squeezed him with all my might. I felt someone sit beside me and I heard Sunggyu’s voice, “Oskar, please don’t cry.”

Laughing, I left Hoya’s grasp and hugged Sunggyu, “I’m just so happy you guys are here. I thought you guys would be busy with your schedule.” Scratching the back of his head Sunggyu smiled sheepishly before Dongwoo replied.

“Well… we told our manager that we wanted to spend Christmas with our number one fan.” As a large smile spread across my face, I jumped into Dongwoo’s embrace.

“Ah, Ajusshi, you seven totally made my Christmas!” Releasing Dongwoo, I walked over and hugged Woohyun, Sungyeol, and Myungsoo tightly.

“Noona! Open my present that I bought you,” Smiling widely I reached out to grab the present Sungjong was practically throwing at me, “I hope you like it.” Slowly unwrapping the box, the smile on my face remained as my eyes started to glow.

Excitedly throwing my arms around Sungjong’s neck, “Ahh… I love it Jongie!!! How’d you know that I wanted these earrings?” Sungjong just smiled.

“I pay attention when we go shopping noona.”

After almost all of the presents were opened, only a few remained, we took a break to start cooking Christmas dinner. “Hoya oppa!! Stop playing with the turkey!” Laughing as I watched my best friend play with turkey, I continued to help Woohyun fixed the mashed potatoes; a tradition Western Christmas dinner, which was what the boys had asked for.

As we all were cooking I noticed that one person in particular wasn't in the room with everyone else. Silently slipping away from the others, I walked towards the living room and glanced around. No sign of him anywhere, puffing out my cheeks I walked towards the balcony; the one place he often went to when he was over.

Cautiously glancing around the door frame that lead to my balcony, I spotted him casually leaning against the railing as he glanced out towards the tree line in my backyard. Grabbing his jacket that was placed on the back of the couch I slowly walked up to him. Extending my arm out as I carefully grasped his upper arm, "Oppa, what are you doing out here? It's cold." Handing him his jacket, I smiled as he put it on, "Merry Christmas Myungsoo Oppa."

He smiled at me as he replied, "Merry Christmas Oskar." It seemed as if he was wanting to say something but he held back, I just smiled and widened my eyes as I remembered something. Running quickly back inside towards the Christmas tree, I grabbed his present before returning to his side. Extending it out towards him I shyly smiled.

"It's nothing special like what you guys all got me, but I-"

"I'll love it Oskar, it's from you." Smiling at his sweetness, I felt my cheeks heating up. As he carefully took of the wrapping paper, I grew more nervous when I saw his reaction.

"If you don't like it, it's okay. I can always return-" When his face broke out into that rare handsome smile, I couldn't help but practically melt, "Oppa?" All he did was smile at me and pull me in for a hug. I didn’t know what else to do so I just smiled, even though I knew he couldn’t see. I just enjoyed being wrapped in his strong embrace as I squeezed him back affectionately.

“It’s the best Christmas present ever.” He continued to squeeze me lightly. After a minute he pulled away while still keeping his arms around my body, “Komawoyo Oskar.” To my surprise I felt his lips on my forehead.

Savoring the moment, I closed my eyes and breathlessly replied, “You’re welcome oppa.” Myungsoo had just kissed me, it was on the forehead but nonetheless. That was the first time he ever had, sure Hoya, and Woohyun had before but Myungsoo never did. I was so busy in my thoughts that I didn’t hear Myungsoo when he first spoke.

“Oskar…Oskar.”

“Huh?” Looking up towards Myungsoo’s face I saw that he was holding out a small box. Grasping it lightly in my hands, I stared at the pretty red box. Opening it slowly, my mouth opened at the beautiful silver bracelet that laid in front of my eyes. “Oppa..” Without even saying it Myungsoo knew that I loved it. I grasped it tightly and threw my arms once more around his waist, “Thank you.”

Before anything else could be said we both heard Sungyeol yell, “Food’s ready!” Smiling one last time at him, I walked back inside to the warmth, and made my way to the table. Sitting at the table, I looked across at Hoya who gave me his all-knowing smile.

“Oppas..” My voice cut them all off from what they were previously saying, “um.. I just,” Glancing around at each of them I continued, “I just wanted you all to know that I love you. You all mean so much to me, and I couldn’t be happier that you are here with me.” All the boys just smiled at me, and then Sungjong attacked me with a hug.

-----

After dinner, I told the boys to go to the living room while I cleaned up all the dishes. “Need some help?” Turning towards the voice I saw my best friend smiling at me as he pushed off of the doorframe and made his way over to me.

“Hoya why do you know me so well?” Laughing slightly at my comment he shook his head.

“I’m your best friend Oskar, you’re my baby sister basically. And I pay attention to you, and I care about you. So listen when I tell you to just go for it.”

“Go for it?” He just nodded his head, before kissing me gently on the temple and walking away drying his hands in the process.

“OSKAR! Come finish opening presents with us.”

“Coming Sunggyu oppa.” Laughing I dried my hands off and walked towards the guys. After we finished opening the last of the presents I picked up all of the wrapping paper and went to throw it away outside in the trash can so I wouldn’t have to take it out later. As I went to lift up the lid, someone bet me to it. “Oh Myungsoo Oppa.”

“Let me help you.” Smiling at his handsome façade, I just couldn’t help but think back to what Hoya told me earlier in the kitchen. ‘Go for it’ was all he had said, but somewhere deep inside Oskar knew exactly what he was talking about, Myungsoo.

Just as I started to say his name he said mine as well. “Um, you go first oppa.” I saw him shake his head, the bright moonlight reflecting off of his handsome face. Glancing at his eyes, and then trailing down to his lips I felt my heartbeat rapidly speed up. Seeing our breaths due to the coldness I saw him look at the ground before glancing back at me, biting his lip as if he wanted to say something yet holding back.

I couldn’t take it anymore; I did what Hoya told me to. I went for it; I grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him towards me. As soon as I felt his lips on mine, I couldn’t believe that I had actually done it. Nineteen years I’ve known these boys, eight years of crushing on this boy and finally I’m doing what I’ve always wanted too; kissing him. What surprised me more was the fact that I felt him place his hand on the back of my head pulling my head closers to his, if that was even possible.

I felt my heart increase ten times the speed it was previously going as we continued to kiss under the moonlight. Pulling away, I bit my lip as I slowly looked into his eyes. Not really being able to read his emotions, I glanced down at the snow-covered ground as I waited. Myungsoo placed his hand under my chin and made me look at him, before he leaned down and once more placed his lips on mine. This definitely turned out to be a not so lonely Christmas
