Kyuhyun sighed for what feels like the tenth time today. His husband, Sungmin, is being distant from him again and he had a guess on why the older is acting like that.

He approached the older who was practically murdering the onions that he's chopping. He hugged Sungmin from behind and nuzzled his nose on the older's neck but the other didn't budged.

"Min?"

He received nothing but silence from the older and he sighed again, "Come on, Min. Talk to me. Please?"

"I'm busy here, Kyuhyun. Stop bothering me," the older said before removing his arms from his waist and continued chopping—murdering—the poor vegetables. Kyuhyun sighed in defeat and moved a few feet from the older just to give him space.

"You've been distant with me since yesterday, Min. Come on. Can you tell me what's wrong?" he asked trying to coax the older guy.

"I'm sure you already know what the problem is," Sungmin said without looking at him.

Kyuhyun closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He knew it. That is the problem, "Is this about what we discussed yesterday?"

The older remained silent which he took as a yes. He sighed and said, "We already talked about that, Min. I told you, it's too early for that."

Sungmin glared at the younger who was looking at him, "We've been married for three years, Kyuhyun. What the hell is too early about that? Or maybe you just don"t want to have a family with me?"

Kyuhyun rubbed his face and took deep calming breaths to avoid showing his irritation. This would end up bad and he doesn't want that at all, "It's not that, Min. Of course I want to have a family with you. I just—maybe..we're both not ready for it? I mean, having a baby is one hard task. Having an adopted one is another story. Maybe we should wait for a few more years?"

Now, you're probably wondering what exactly they are arguing about. A few days before, Sungmin opened the topic of them adopting a kid so that they could finally complete their family but it's obvious that the younger lad is not ready to be a parent yet which brings the both of them in this situation. Sungmin giving Kyuhyun the cold shoulder and Kyuhyun being confused as hell.

"But I'm ready to adopt a baby, Kyu! It has been my dream and you know that. I just don't think I could wait for a few more years. Please, Kyu? At least if we adopt now, you could easily get comfortable with the kid. Besides, I already have someone I could adopt," Sungmin said sheepishly.

Hearing the last line made Kyuhyun's eyes widen in shock. Did he hear it right? Maybe he just misheard it? Sungmin must've been kidding right?

"You didn't even asked for my opinion first?" Kyuhyun asked in disbelief.

Sungmin bit his lip and looked down, "I'm sorry. I was going to tell you if only you agreed to my proposal the first time I talked to you about it but you didn't so I hesitated to tell you. It's not like I purposely went to the orphanage! It was accidental."

Kyuhyun raised an eyebrow at his husband's statement and asked, "And how is that accidental?"

"Remember the time me and Donghae volunteered on this charity project where we visited an orphanage? That was where I saw and met him, Kyu. He's so cute and kind and smart and..he kind of looks like you," Sungmin said while looking at Kyuhyun with his big doe eyes.

Kyuhyun sighed and looked carefully at the older. He could sense Sungmin's desperation to adopt the kid. He really wants to build a family with him already but Kyuhyun's just quite hesitant about it. He's scared. Scared that he might not be the father that the kid wanted and that he might just end up as a disappointment. He grew up without his parents due to the fact that they're always busy because of their work and so Kyuhyun doesn't know how he would take care of their possible child. However, seeing Sungmin like this makes him just want to give in and agree to the older's proposal.

Kyuhyun sighed, "Do you really want to adopt him?"

Sungmin nodded eagerly and it made Kyuhyun smile a little then he nodded, "Okay. If you really want to the I already agree. We'll adopt him."

After hearing his husband, Sungmin squealed and hugged the younger which made him stumble a little. Kyuhyun chuckled and helf the older's waist and hugged him back.

"Thank you. I promise you won't regret adopting him, Kyu."

Kyuhyun smiled and hugged Sungmin tightly. He'd do anything to see his husband happy.

Few days after their discussion about them adopting a kid wherein Kyuhyun agreed(though not really whole heartedly), he found himself in the orphanage where they will adopt the kid that Sungmin has been talking about ever since he agreed to his proposal and instead of getting annoyed, he's actually amused at how enthusiastic his husband is.

They were talking to the head of the orphanage while waiting for the kid to arrive. Sungmin looks happy and excited while Kyuhyun, well, he's nervous. Actually, nervous is an understatement. He's shaking and kept on fidgeting which Sungmin noticed.

"Hey, Kyu," Sungmin said placing his hand on top of Kyuhyun's which made him calm down a bit, "It's going to be okay. Don't be so scared. You'll be a great father to him," Sungmin assured hin with a smile on his face and he couldn't do anything but to breathe in shakily and nod.

After a few more minutes of waiting, a knock came to the door and it made Kyuhyun jump a little. The door opened and a boy came in. His breath hitched when he saw the boy walk in.

"Mr. Cho, may I introduce to you Kwak Yi Ahn but you could also call him Ian. He just turned five years old," the head of the orphanage said with a big smile on her face.

Ian bowed shyly at Kyuhyun and Sungmin and the older couldn't help but coo at the kid's cuteness while Kyuhyun was just standing there motionless.

"N-nice to meet you-u, Mr. Cho," Ian said with his small voice.

Sungmin was the first one to react and approach the kid carefully crouching down to match Ian's height, "Nice to meet you too, Ian. I'm Cho Sungmin but you could call me appa if you want," Sungmin said with a sweet smile that made the kid blush and just nod instead of answering him.

Sungmin chuckled and ruffled Ian's hair and looked at his husband who was standing there just looking at them, "Kyuhyun?" he called which made the younger look at him startled.

"W-what?"

"Come here and greet him, Kyu," Sungmin said standing up and motioning the younger to come closer to them.

Kyuhyun opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out. He bit his lip and took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself but his heart wouldn't stop beating too fast. He feels like he's going to have a heart attack at the moment.

Having no other choice, he walked towards the kid who was staring intently at him. He crouched down and looked at him. He swallowed the lump on his throat and spoke, "Nice to m-meet you, I-Ian. M-my name's Cho Kyuhyu-n but you can call me...dad if you w-want."

Ian just blinked at him and smiled. Kyuhyun was taken aback at the kid's reaction. He blushed when Sungmin introduced himself but he smiled at Kyuhyun. What does that mean?

"He finds you funny, Kyu," Sungmin said as if knowing what was going through his head at that time. He sighed and raised his hand up and hesitantly ruffled the kid's hair before standing up and going back to his place.

The head of the orphanage cleared and said, “So, Mr. Cho?” Sungmin looked at her with a smile on his face then to Kyuhyun who looks a little pale. The older approached his husband and laid a hand on his arm, “Hey, Kyu?”

“Hm?” Kyuhyun answered looking at him.

“What do you think of him? Should we sign the adoption papers now?” Sungmin asked quietly.

Kyuhyun looked carefully at his husband. He's happy. He doesn't have the guts to ruin his husband's mood and besides he find Ian adorable and maybe, just maybe, he could be a good father to him, right?

He smiled widely at Sungmin then nodded. The older squealed and hugged him tightly. Kyuhyun laughed and hugged Sungmin back. The other pulled back and turned to the head of the orphanage, “We'll sign the adoption papers.”

The woman beamed and clasped her hands before getting a folder from her desk and handing it to Sungmin. The lad opened it and read a few things before signing and Kyuhyun did the same. After that, the woman instructed Ian to go back to his room and pack the rest of his stuff.

The head of the orphanage told a few things to the couple before letting them out of her office to wait for Ian. After a few minutes, the kid showed up along with one of the orphanage's staff who was carrying his other stuff that has been packed the day before.

“Are you ready to go, Ian?” Sungmin asked smiling at the kid.

Ian nodded and said, “Can I say good bye to my friends first?”

Sungmin smiled sadly and nodded, “Sure you can, honey. We'll wait for you outside, okay?”

The kid nodded and Kyuhyun got his bags so that they could bring it to the car. The two went out of the building along with the head of the orphanage to their car where they waited for Ian. A few moments after, Ian went out of the building as well with kids behind his back yelling good byes at him. Some of them were crying and Ian hugged a few of them.

“Looks like he has a lot of friends,” Sungmin said in which the head of the orphanage nodded in agreement.

“He's a very friendly kid. It saddens me to see him leave his friends,” she said.

“Don't worry. We assure you that we'll let him visit here at least once or twice a month. Right, Kyu?”

“Huh? Y-yeah. We promise you that, Mam,” Kyuhyun said with a smile.

The woman grinned and said, “I'm glad to know that, Mr. Cho.”

Ian walked towards them. His face a little swollen probably from crying too much and Sungmin sighed and crouched down to talk to the kid, “Hey there,” he said before wiping Ian's face, “Don't cry. Me and your Dad promised to let you visit the orphanage and your friends at least once or twice a month. Stop crying now, Ian.”

The kid looked at him with an innocent look on his face, “R-really?”

Sungmin smiled and nodded, “Yes, honey. So please, stop crying now, okay?”

“Thank you,” Ian said before hugging him. Sungmin was shocked at first but he hugged back anyways.

Sungmin stood up and led Ian to their car. The kid turned around and waved at his friends who waved back at him. The boy entered the car and the couple soon followed after saying good bye to the head of the orphanage. Kyuhyun started the engine and drove off.

They arrived at their house after a few minutes. The drive on the way was quiet but it wasn't uncomfortable either. It was okay actually. At least for Kyuhyun. He remained quiet the whole ride but his husband asked a few questions to Ian like if he was excited and if he was okay in which the boy replied politely.

As soon as they're inside their house, Kyuhyun got Ian's bags and brought it to his room leaving Sungmin and the boy behind. He could feel his husband's glares at him but he just chose to ignore it. Its not like he could do anything anyway. It's still too early for Kyuhyun to be the one who tour Ian around their home. So he had to find an escape and that is bringing the kid's bags to his new room.

Meanwhile, in the living room, Sungmin and Ian stood there. The kid was looking around him observing his new home while Sungmin was just looking at him with pure adoration. Though this was only the second time that he met the kid, he could already feel the bond between them. He's ready to be a father to this five year old kid. He just wish his husband is ready too but from the way Kyuhyun acted earlier, it seems like it would take a long time before he get used to being a father to Ian but that's okay. Like what they always say, it's better late than never, right?

Sungmin cleared his throat making the kid look at him. He smiled and asked, “Do you want me to show you around the house?”

Ian grinned and nodded enthusiastically making the older chuckle, “Okay. Lets go then.”

Their house wasn't that big. Well, for some, it is. Especially when there were only the two of them. The house has two floors. The first floor consists of the spacious living room, a kitchen, a dining room, one comfort room and a guest room. The top floor has four rooms. The master's bedroom, a room that used to be a guest room but was now Ian's new room and Kyuhyun's study room. The master's and Ian's room have their own bathroom inside.

Sungmin insisted to get a smaller house but he and Kyuhyun couldn't do anything since the house was a gift from their parents who told them that it's a house that fits the two of them and it would be convenient when they decided to finally have a kid.

Sungmin showed Ian the rooms and how everything works. He last showed him his room and he was surprised to see Kyuhyun sitting at the bed while looking at something on his phone. He thought the younger would've go somewhere now considering his uncomfortableness when Ian's around.

Kyuhyun looked up and saw them startling him a little. He stood up and said, “Hey uh, I already brought Ian's bag. It just needs to be arranged in his closet and he's already settled.”

Sungmin nodded and smiled, “Okay. Why don't you help him settle in, Kyu?”

“W-what? Me? Why me?” Kyuhyun said, his eyes wide.

“I need to prepare us dinner, Kyuhyun. You help him, okay?” Sungmin said widening his eyes at his husband.

Kyuhyun tried to protest but Sungmin glared at him. He sighed in defeat and nodded. The older smiled and said, “Good. Ian? Your Dad will help you fix your things while I prepare us dinner, okay? Tell me if he's mean.”

“Hey!”

Ian giggled and nodded. Sungmin chuckled and ruffled the kid's hair then walked out of the room but not before giving his husband another pointed look making Kyuhyun pout.

After the older left, they remained silent. Ian looked at Kyuhyun and smiled, “Can we fix my things now? Please?”

Kyuhyun looked at the kid and blinked. Why is he so polite? His politeness reminds him of Sungmin. His husband is too kind and very polite. Which is the reason why his parents like him so much and he couldn't help but remember the first time they met. That was back when they were still in high school. Kyuhyun was being the annoying freshman while Sungmin was the kind and polite sophomore not to mention gorgeous as well.

“Uh..Dad?”

Kyuhyun shook his head, “What?”

Ian giggled again and Kyuhyun find it extremely cute to the point that he wants to squish the kid's cheek but of course he couldn't do that. Yet.

“I'm asking if we could fix my things now?”

“Oh! Uhm. Yeah of course. Lets start now so we could finish it before your appa calls us for dinner,” Kyuhyun smiled at the kid.

They then started fixing Ian's things. They were quiet at first but then Ian started telling him a few things that made Kyuhyun smile and even laugh a few times. The kid is smart for his age. He also found a few resemblance of him and Sungmin to the kid. Ian mentioned how much he love singing and how he wants to learn to play at least one musical instrument wherein Kyuhyun said that he and Sungmin could teach him how to play a few instruments making the boy squeal in excitement. His cuteness reminds him of Sungmin and at that moment, he's already a little comfortable around Ian.

Sungmin finished their dinner just in time and so he went upstairs to check on the two and he already could hear their laughter even when he's still a little far from the room. Wait, laughing? Sungmin raised an eyebrow and walked a little faster.

What greeted him made him smile from ear to ear. Kyuhyun was sitting on the floor while Ian was sitting on his lap while holding his husband's phone and Kyuhyun was pointing something on his phone and even laughing a few times while Ian groan but laugh as well.

“Hey you two,” Sungmin said while grinning.

The two look at him. It was Kyuhyun who first spoke, “Hi Min. Ian's being defeated by zombies,”

“That's because you're distracting me, Dad,” Ian said with a pout making Sungmin chuckle.

“What? No I'm not! Don't believe him, Min,” Kyuhyun said while looking at him and pouting as well.

Sungmin laughed while looking at the two. He shook his head and said, “ Come on, you two. Dinner's ready.”

Kyuhyun took his phone from Ian and the kid stood up and waited for him. They walked towards Sungmin and Kyuhyun gave his husband a peck on the lips making the older smile sweetly.

“Hey, Ian,” Kyuhyun said crouching down, “What do you think of a piggy back ride?” he asked while smiling widely.

Ian grinned and jumped on Kyuhyun's back, wrapping his arms around his Dad's neck while Kyuhyun hook his arms behind the kid's knees to prevent him from falling before standing up and running carefully down the stairs making Sungmin laugh at his two boys.

Downstairs at the dining room, the two was already sitting next to each other.

“Hurry up, Min! We're already hungry,” Kyuhyun yelled.

Sungmin chuckled and yelled back, “Coming!”

Sungmin sat across Ian who was patiently waiting for them to start. Kyuhyun started serving the two of them which made him look at his husband in shock. The younger looked at him and chuckled, “For a change,” he said.

Sungmin was still surprised but he nodded and waited for Kyuhyun to finish.

“Lets eat!” Kyuhyun said before digging in.

They were quiet during the dinner. Kyuhyun and Sungmin fed Ian a few times which made the kid beam in joy. After a few minutes, they finished eating and the older along with the help of Kyuhyun and Ian cleaned the table.

“Do you want me to wash the dishes?” Kyuhyun offered.

Sungmin shook his head and said, “No, I'll do it. You get Ian ready for bed, yeah?”

Kyuhyun smiled and nodded. The younger gave him a kiss on the lips before calling Ian from the living room and telling him that they should get ready for bed.

Kyuhyun gave Ian a bath. They were having fun. If you're going to look at them, you would think that Kyuhyun is really Ian's father. The younger man thought that it would take a long time for him to be comfortable around the kid but he was obviously wrong. It wasn't hard to love Ian. The kid's cute, smart, polite, kind and just simply lovable. Add to that the fact that he reminds Kyuhyun of him and his husband.

Kyuhyun was tucking Ian on his bed when Sungmin came in. The older approached the bed and sat beside Ian.

“What do you think of going to the mall tomorrow, kiddo?” Kyuhyun asked.

Ian grinned and said, “That would be great, Dad.”

“We'll go to the mall tomorrow then,” Sungmin said smiling at his son.

The kid squealed in delight making the two adults chuckle at their son's cuteness.

“Go to sleep now. Good night, Ian,” Kyuhyun said and leaning down to kiss the kid's forehead.

“And~ good night too,” Sungmin said with a smile and kissed Ian on the cheek making the kid blush again.

Kyuhyun and Sungmin went out of Ian's room and went back to their own room to get ready for bed.

They were just lying down, both of them still wasn't able to sleep. Sungmin's head was laying on Kyuhyun's chest while the younger have his arms wrapped around his husband's waist to keep him closer.

“Kyu?”

“Hm?”

“Thank you,” Sungmin said while looking at his husband.

“For what?” Kyuhyun asked looking at Sungmin confusion written all over his face.

“For accepting Ian. I thought it would take you a very long time to get used to him. Looks like I was wrong.”

Kyuhyun chuckled and sighed in contentment, “I actually thought that too. However, Ian's a really nice kid. It's not hard to love him and besides, he reminds me of you.”

“He's just like you as well,” Sungmin said with a grin.

Kyuhyun chuckled and nodded, “I promise to be a good father to him, Sungmin. I also promise to be a good husband to you. I'll protect the both of you from now on,” the younger said sincerely making the older lad tear up a little.

“I love you, Cho Kyuhyun,” Sungmin said with a sweet smile.

“I love you too, Cho Sungmin,” Kyuhyun replied and kissed him passionately.

Sungmin pulled back and cuddled closer to his husband. He laid there for a few minutes and soon, he felt Kyuhyun's breathing turned to even breaths indicating that he's already asleep. The older smiled and closed his eyes. He fell asleep with a smile on his face thinking how lucky he is to have Ian and Kyuhyun in his life.
